Looks like the first Disco's traction control doesn't work correctly, it should have braked the front left wheel to help the opposite one to rotate. Anyway, having an axle diff lock is the way to go in these conditions.

I also thought TC doesn't work for the first car but I looked over and over and in the end I realized that it does work. At the beginning you can see the front wheel being slow down by the TC. With the second attempt you can hear engine speed increasing and also the wheel speed increasing and from that point you can't see in any car how TC apply brake force to the wheels. If TC didn't work and assuming it has CDL then all the power goes to front left and rear right wheels which are off the ground BUT in the end the car manages to pass.

Yeah the TC on my disco works way stronger

@@ronaldrrootiii6040 From my experience with the TC on the Disco 2's, the bigger the tyres are, the less effective it becomes. Once you go bigger than 32" tyres lockers become essential. The TC on the disco 2 is calibrated to work with 29" tyres which is standard size, and when you go bigger tyres the wheel speed and the engine speed change and it gets harder for the ECU to calculate

Everybody wants to add rear diff lock first in their cars, but my personal experience is that rear open and front locked does not affect turnbing radius much and is much more effective in most scenarios as far as traction is concerned. Of course you need cv joints and halfshafts that can handle the extra traction and binding forces, but nowadays there are several heavy duty axle components to choose from.

    Hi man, i love your D2 💪
Has the first discovery only TC and yours discovery has TC + ATB aschcroft difflok ?? Becouse i wont to make the same upgrade (rear and maybe front axles) with my discovery 2 that has CDL and TC. In the video i see a nice difference. Did you feel a big difference now with the ATB on the rear?
And you have stock axles and trasmission or HD (like ashcroft) ??
    Thanks so much 👍

Hi. It has stock transmission and rear diff locker. That locker made a big improvement.
ATB it’s not the same with a diff locker. ATB = automatic torque biasing and it’s a limited slip differential.
At some point I fitted a rear ATB diff on that car but in my opinion it was useless.
Ashcroft has both type of differentials but I went for a different brand as I had a lot of unpleasant situations with Ashcroft.

Defo a rear locker it's the thing when off roading.

Good Video, now to the inevitable Questions; Was TracktionControll deactivated? Was Transfercase Center Diff Lock engaged?? & Which rear locker was indeed fittet to the silver D2? Thank You for posting🚙😎

Both cars have working TC and center diff locked. The silver one has the rear diff locked.
The green one had the tow bar deep in the ground and that made it harder for it to cross the ditch but eventually TC managed to get the car moving. Maybe it looks like TC doesn’t work but at that wheel speed you can’t notice how it works but it’s there and it’s doing it’s job

@@lowrange1486 Good, tapping the footbrake helps to "get the TC going" as I assume U know. So which locker has been fitted to the silver D2? Krgds from🇳🇴👍

@@peters2860 if you tap the brake TC stops automatically. Tried that before and that was the result.
The silver one has TRE air locker. (www.tre4x4.com)
Before that I had an Ashcroft ATB but it was useless in off road so I fitted this air locker and now when TC can’t do the job I use the air locker.

@@lowrange1486 Thank You for taking time to revert. We seem to have different experience reg the TC....unsure why... I agree that the "Arsecroft" LSD does not cut the cheese. I'll look into the option U suggest 👍😎

Left front wheel sensor is broken

    • @ronaldrrootiii6040
      @ronaldrrootiii6040 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Actually we don't know what is broken but the traction control is definitely not working. It doesn't take the front left one to make the front left one not work. Any part of the ABS system can be at fault and make all of it not work not just one corner
