    The thing with Traction Control most people don't get is that it requires consistent throttle when the wheel is starting to spin to engage it particularly older systems. Everyone (D3 onwards) used to go off the power right when it was starting to do it's thing. Just got to learn the way each system performs to get the best out of them. It's amazing how slow you can tackle things with it.

      Yes it certainly performs well when it's all working well and driven well.

    From looking at it the auto does a much better job and seems to make it look easier the manual still does every obstacle but not as easy great video.

      Thanks mate! We tend to agree, the auto seems to keep the traction control in that happy spot. Occasionally I try a bit more revs with the auto and it seems to make the traction control let go.
      Next time Ill put the 275/70R18 back on for a fairer comparison.

    I have read somewhere, actually many places that the D2's prior to 2002 has more sensitive traction control as it was not using the CDL, mine is a 2003 TD5. I've found I have to floor it to make it work. Ive since put lockers (e-locker rear and air in the front) interestingly since having the rear locker, I barely ever have to engage the front. I don't work the vehicle that hard anymore. Mine looks exactly the same as the silver V8. Nice Video

    • @dustydisco2906
      @dustydisco2906  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting, it would be great to confirm that somehow. The traction controls performance on my silver disco seems to have slowly worsened. I suspect that something is not working correctly but not to the extent of triggering a malfunction warning from the SLABS. Maybe, yours is the same. Have you had it long? Generally, I never even have to use my rear locker.

      @@dustydisco2906 I’ve had my car 6 years now. When I first got it I would charge up hills so momentum would typically get me up. I drive it slower and try and crawl up, but with the sway bar still connected I would not flex enough. I feel like my TC engages still better than yours but less than the blue disco

      Slabs units in the modern units are suposed to have a faster response compared to the old ones...mine is a 2000 and it works great tho. Love to see how good the old girls still are. My 2.5 tdi's gearbox is on the way out so I've ordered a Winchester Gears R380 stage 2 gearbox and stage 2 transfer box. I have no intention of getting rid of the old girl and reckon it's a fair investment as the gearbox and transfer box are the weak points in my humble opinion. Look them up, expensive but cheaper than been stranded with a dead box in the middle of nowhere. Probably going to go for some Gwyn Lewis heavy duty propshafts as well. Mega Squirt has a ton of info on uprated differentials too. Hope some of that's interesting. Got my body protection from Dirt Monkey Offroad. All the best guys.

      Hi mate thanks for the comment- I agree, sometimes I thought it wasn't working at all. You can see the wheel "jerking" sometimes as drive is being sent to it, but its not enough to either make that wheel spin or make the vehicle move. I suspect the shuttle valve or the earth for it is on its way out.

    I hate when CeCe makes you want to flip. The area I live all the trails are super dry and Rocky with really steep sections bumpy like 35 degree angles so any slip with TC suddenly kicking makes you want to flip backwards. I need a rear Locker so bad. I get the old Landrover guys on Facebook that only drive into UK telling me I just don't know how to drive it properly or pick the right line and I'm like dude you don't know what the trails are here in Southern Arizona some of the hardest Jeep trails. Traction control just makes you want to flip oftentimes. Unless you have a brand new Rover where the TC Works immediately. I want to experiment with some left-foot braking even though I have traction control just ride the brake and the throttle pretend like I don't have it see what happens haha I don't mind getting the wheel in they are but some of it is way inappropriate and dangerous

    • @dustydisco2906
      @dustydisco2906  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're Auto, definitely. At the very least keep your foot there for when it does kick and use the brake to control it. would you rather too much traction from TC trying to kick you or none because you have two wheels spinning :D

    what did you do to prevent the 33" tires from rubbing with just 2" lift?

    • @dustydisco2906
      @dustydisco2906  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On the silver one I had factory 18" Westminster rims (in our first video) with 275/70R18 and I had to cut the bull bar and the plastic rocker/sill trims on the front but still get the occasional rubbing.
      on the rear, it rubs on the back of the actual Quarter panel. It would need cutting eventually.
      I removed all of the exterior plastic on the panels too.
      As for the blue one, they're a narrow tyre so they don't rub too much but a little bit had to be cut with a grinder too!
