I do like that XBOX gives you the option to choose which you rather like. But I think with the amount we pay for the console, it should come with a play and charge battery and cable and then if you wanted, you can use regular or rechargeable batteries instead.
I am neither team disposable or team rechargeable - I am team CHOICE, which is why I love the way Microsoft implement their wireless controllers. With Sony controllers once the rechargeable battery is flat you are forced to use another controller, or tether the controller with a charge cable. Also, when the internal battery dies you are forced to either throw away the controller, or find a replacement battery online and then do controller surgery - not fun. With Microsoft controllers you can use disposable batteries, rechargeable batteries or a rechargeable battery pack - you have the choice of three options. When the controller is flat, you can throw in a couple of disposable AA's whilst your battery pack recharges, or tether the cable, or change rechargeable battery packs - choice. Oh, and the best part is Microsoft controllers are not disposable like Sony controllers - once the disposable or rechargeable batteries or the rechargeable battery pack are dead, you just swap them out. So whilst Sony has made many improvements with the Dualsense (their best controller to date), it still feels inferior to the Xbox controller and still has this stupid system of non-user replaceable internal battery. Disposable batteries vs disposable controller? I think I will go with disposable batteries. ;)
Yeah I never got how this is an argument. If you want rechargeable batteries you can just buy a pack or the Xbox specific one (and even that is just 20 bucks). I find it very sad that people hate having options. With Xbox I can play with no batteries (just a wired cord), rechargeable batteries, random batteries I still have lying around, or a rechargeable battery pack.

Not really because you can get rechargeables with a charging dock for $30 or less and a 50 pack of AA’s for about the same price and each last up to 30-40 hrs straight

A 30$ charge a week after purchase versus a potential 30-70$ charge a few years down the road is going to sit differently with everyone, but I don't think 30$ is all that bad, especially since you can buy a set of rechargeable AA's that can be used on multiple devices
How so? The Xbox controller is much cheaper than the PS5 controller and you can get like 4 batteries and a charger on amazon for around 10 bucks and it's still cheaper plus the batteries last much longer.

The fact is that me when I play on my PlayStation 4 Pro I always play near my console and the wire is 2 meters long so it’s not a problem and my chair is comfortable. So I could always play plugged in any time I want. But I always hated that Xbox controller always have batteries like the Apple mouse because when it stopped working I have to stop playing for a while and I ran out of batteries in the shelf.
My favourite option for charging is the Xbox Elite Series 2 that has an internal 2050mah battery, it lasts 40 hours and the charging dock is so simple to use you just drop it on there and never have to think about charging.
Disposable batteries are the best, as it gives the controller a way longer lifespan. Also, it is so much more convenient to change a set of disposable batteries in maximum 1 minute when the controller dies, as opposed to the inconvenience of having to charge the controller for 2-4 hours until it becomes usable again, for the internal rechargeable ones. I can't thank Microsoft enough for their incredibly thoughtful decision!

Stand alone Rechargeables duh. Buy eneloops and they last you a decade for $40, hell I still got eneloops from 2008 but they only last about 10 hours now without using vibration though.
Uhm i have 2 diff brands and they dont work so try again. Ps has had rechargeable controllers since ps3. Xbox hasnt had a rechargeable controller until the elite came out. 2 ps5 controllers are cheaper than one elite

It might still work but the battery has a life span and over time you can only charge it up so much and even now it probably won't get a full charge even if it says its fully charged.

If you know how batteries work, they slowly lose charge and are unable to be charged to 100% even if it shows them at 100% and it's the same with phones as well, that's why some phones have an option to only charge them to 85%... of course the exception is if you don't game as much then they will have a longer life span but on genral they last around 7 year or so.
Charge a controller daily is far from being a problem… back in the Ps1, Ps2 days everything was wired and we didn’t had a problem with it. You can still play while is being charged and it’s a much better alternative than freaking disposable double A batteries in the 2020’s.
I have a PS5 and use an Xbox controller for PC. I prefer rechargeable AA batteries, but it's not like I hate the built-in battery especially because I have 2 DualSense controllers and can just rotate them. I always have a full bank of AA batteries ready to go and I can use them for other things like my keyboard, mouse, daughter's toys...whatever. Never having to charge my controller is extremely convenient.
I personally, like Sony's and Xbox controllers. I think it really depends on how much you play but I have always liked Sony's wireless controllers. I don't think Microsoft should charge the same for their controller that doesn't have rechargeable battery. As far as replacing the battery on Sony's controller I would think by the time that happens the controller is pretty shot anyway. I haven't had much luck with the rechargeable batteries for Xbox controllers but that might depend on the person using them and the brand that you buy. Kids aren't always responsible for taking care of controllers and extra accessories. In that case disposable batteries are probably a good option.
I bought a pack of 8 rechargeable AAs for 20 bucks and a charger for 20 bucks. That was 10 years ago. I'm still using the same batteries and get 70-80 hours of battery life on my Steam controller. There is no good reason for controllers to have non-removable batteries.
At moments when you forget to charge your controllers the option of having disposable batteries makes a lot of sense, and besides you can get the rechargeable batteries to work with so it's the best of both worlds.

I bought one of those battery packs with a charge port on it. It fits flush on the back of the xbox controller and emulates a regular charge up controller. I have two of them so if one needs to charge I can just swap it out for another. And the drained one charges as I play with the other one.

They really need to include the battery pack as standard, not the AA. You could still choose to use AA if that was your thing. You shouldn’t have to pay extra for the MS official battery.
I have a bunch of rechargeable AA batteries for all stuff in the house. So much easier to swap out batteries rather than plug it in to charge while playing. Problem solved
20 years from now, when the PS4/5 and Xbox 360/One/Series X are all 'retro', it'll be incredibly difficult to find a working Playstation controller, whereas the issue of dead integrated batteries won't be an issue for Xbox. The same will probably be true for handhelds like 3DS, etc.
Not to mention your controller will not have battery issue after 5 years, my Xbox controller still playing nice since 2017 while my PS4 one bought in 2018.... Well not so much
I actually like having different choices when it comes to battery packs from Power A , Microsoft, PDP Gaming. I never tried rechargeable AA batteries but have used Duracell batteries for my Xbox controller and they are decent for 40 hours give or take.
Buy 4 rechargeable batteries , charger, keep one pair fully charged in drawer and when batteries in controller are empty i just put new ones in in less then 15 seconds and put old in charger . Like this you can never run out of juice . But i get it that someone like just plug in and charge
I'm team choice. You can use disposable or you can use rechargeable. Xbox leaves it up to the user. I use 2 rechargeable batteries. That way I have fresh rechargeable battery ready when I need them.
I don’t like those third party docks with low capacity batteries, those cheap batteries degrade quickly so don’t last many years. Plus I buy the fancy limited edition controllers, so I’m not using an ugly black or white replacement battery cover that ruins the design of the controller.
The batteries in PS4 controllers last like 4 maybe 5 hours at best. And its annoying as hell that they only included like a foot and a half cable. So if your controller died you either have to stop your game while it charges or else have to sit right up on top of the screen. Neither of which is fun and practical. The batteries Microsoft includes last forever and when they do finally die its like a 2 minute process, assuming you have some on hand, to swap them out and immediately get back to gaming. I 100% prefer batteries. I do use rechargeables but the long life ones and I know it will be annoying if it dies i will have to be plugged into the wall for a bit.
Honestly this is one of the biggest things I love about Xbox controllers over PlayStation. In my opinion the PS5 controller feels better, but eventually that battery will degrade and I will have to go through an annoying repair process or drop 70 bucks on a new controller. I use rechargeable AA's for my Xbox controllers. When they start going bad, I'll drop 10 bucks to get two new ones. Because of this my Xbox controller will essentially last me until there's some sort of mechanical failure. I only just recently had to replace my Xbox One controller that I got back when the Xbox One launched because the rubber on the sticks was completely worn off and the triggers were starting to get sticky. I have no doubt that my new Xbox One X controller Will last me much longer than my PS5 controllers, and possibly longer than the PS5 console itself. 😂
2:38 - 1000mAh @3.7V.. VS 2000 or 3000mAh @1.2V.. There is a difference, but it's not THAT crazy 3.7Wh VS ~6Wh ALSO.. with high power drain, the total capacity of some batteries scales down better, Li-Ion cells are much better at giving nominal capacity at higher drain than Ni-Mh's for ex. Even more so than Alkaline AA's should you ever compare to or want to use those.
You can’t get good quality 3000man triple a batteries, I don’t know where you got that nugget from. Good quality double a max out at around 2600mah, you can get higher ones say 2800mah but these sacrifice charge cycles and are usually from dubious no brand sources, not worth buying for a piddly extra 200mah over high quality Energizer, Duracell or Eneloop. Actual Battery packs max out at 2050mah, that’s the one that’s inside the Elite series 2 so we can’t use that for a regular series controller. So we are left with the MS official battery pack at 1400mah, which still lasts 30hours. There’s a million low capacity third party packs available, but I’ve never seen one that fits in the actual battery compartment at a higher capacity.

That’s why I am planning to buy Xbox controller instead of PS4/PS5 controller. I’ll buy recharge batteries and when they degrade I’ll buy new ones and I don’t need to tear controller apart for stupid battery change.

I’ve never had a Sony battery fail on me, so I think the quality is decent, it’s very likely that you will have some other issues with the controller long before the battery has degraded to unusable status. Most commonly the dreaded stick drift will get you.
Team Xbox cause their controllers are always on sale for $40 plus a rechargeable battery pack for around $15 that usually has 2 batteries is still cheaper than a $70 PS controller that rarely goes on sale. 2 Xbox controllers for $80 plus a $15 battery pack is still a better deal than $140 for 2 PS controllers.

Xbox should give their Plug and Charge Kit bundled with the controller. If the battery degrades we can buy a new kit or use AAs The current pricing is flawed. Ideal case, price of (PS5 controller) = price of (Xbox Series Controller + Plug and Play)

I have a bunch of rechargeable AA batteries for all stuff in the house. So much easier to swap out batteries rather than plug it in to charge while playing. Problem solved
20 years from now, when the PS4/5 and Xbox 360/One/Series X are all 'retro', it'll be incredibly difficult to find a working Playstation controller, whereas the issue of dead integrated batteries won't be an issue for Xbox. The same will probably be true for handhelds like 3DS, etc.
Not to mention your controller will not have battery issue after 5 years, my Xbox controller still playing nice since 2017 while my PS4 one bought in 2018.... Well not so much
I have battery packs from a third-party. Thry plug into a USB port on the Xbox, so I'm always ready.

I actually like having different choices when it comes to battery packs from Power A , Microsoft, PDP Gaming. I never tried rechargeable AA batteries but have used Duracell batteries for my Xbox controller and they are decent for 40 hours give or take.
Buy 4 rechargeable batteries , charger, keep one pair fully charged in drawer and when batteries in controller are empty i just put new ones in in less then 15 seconds and put old in charger . Like this you can never run out of juice . But i get it that someone like just plug in and charge

I'm team choice. You can use disposable or you can use rechargeable. Xbox leaves it up to the user. I use 2 rechargeable batteries. That way I have fresh rechargeable battery ready when I need them.
The thumbsticks always go before anything else, so the battery argument is pointless.

I don’t like those third party docks with low capacity batteries, those cheap batteries degrade quickly so don’t last many years. Plus I buy the fancy limited edition controllers, so I’m not using an ugly black or white replacement battery cover that ruins the design of the controller.
I would rather pick up disposable batteries tell the end of time, and will do so.
The batteries in PS4 controllers last like 4 maybe 5 hours at best. And its annoying as hell that they only included like a foot and a half cable. So if your controller died you either have to stop your game while it charges or else have to sit right up on top of the screen. Neither of which is fun and practical. The batteries Microsoft includes last forever and when they do finally die its like a 2 minute process, assuming you have some on hand, to swap them out and immediately get back to gaming. I 100% prefer batteries. I do use rechargeables but the long life ones and I know it will be annoying if it dies i will have to be plugged into the wall for a bit.

Honestly this is one of the biggest things I love about Xbox controllers over PlayStation. In my opinion the PS5 controller feels better, but eventually that battery will degrade and I will have to go through an annoying repair process or drop 70 bucks on a new controller. I use rechargeable AA's for my Xbox controllers. When they start going bad, I'll drop 10 bucks to get two new ones. Because of this my Xbox controller will essentially last me until there's some sort of mechanical failure. I only just recently had to replace my Xbox One controller that I got back when the Xbox One launched because the rubber on the sticks was completely worn off and the triggers were starting to get sticky. I have no doubt that my new Xbox One X controller Will last me much longer than my PS5 controllers, and possibly longer than the PS5 console itself. 😂

ALSO.. with high power drain, the total capacity of some batteries scales down better, Li-Ion cells are much better at giving nominal capacity at higher drain than Ni-Mh's for ex. Even more so than Alkaline AA's should you ever compare to or want to use those.
The xbox needs 2 AA 1.5 volts so not any rechargeable battery will not work

You can’t get good quality 3000man triple a batteries, I don’t know where you got that nugget from. Good quality double a max out at around 2600mah, you can get higher ones say 2800mah but these sacrifice charge cycles and are usually from dubious no brand sources, not worth buying for a piddly extra 200mah over high quality Energizer, Duracell or Eneloop. Actual Battery packs max out at 2050mah, that’s the one that’s inside the Elite series 2 so we can’t use that for a regular series controller. So we are left with the MS official battery pack at 1400mah, which still lasts 30hours. There’s a million low capacity third party packs available, but I’ve never seen one that fits in the actual battery compartment at a higher capacity.

The ps5 controller is way better than the ps4 controller in terms of battery life,I don’t charge mine as much as I did on ps4 but that’s just my experience

That’s why I am planning to buy Xbox controller instead of PS4/PS5 controller. I’ll buy recharge batteries and when they degrade I’ll buy new ones and I don’t need to tear controller apart for stupid battery change.
@@Nameisnotimportant yea my ps4 controllers got like 3 hours of power in them after not that long and takes 1 hour to recharge lmao, cheapest possible AAs last 35-40 hours in the xbox controller and then you have like eneloop pro rechargeables etc which will hold good battery time for years and years

I’ve never had a Sony battery fail on me, so I think the quality is decent, it’s very likely that you will have some other issues with the controller long before the battery has degraded to unusable status. Most commonly the dreaded stick drift will get you.
Team Xbox cause their controllers are always on sale for $40 plus a rechargeable battery pack for around $15 that usually has 2 batteries is still cheaper than a $70 PS controller that rarely goes on sale.
2 Xbox controllers for $80 plus a $15 battery pack is still a better deal than $140 for 2 PS controllers.

I still own a ps3 controller 1st opened in 2010
And it still charged moderately well when compared to its age
I've gone through a few ps3 and 4 controllers and they lose their charge over time and you can't fully charge them.
