Yes, you read it correctly. Caddy pushed the Nintendo Switch Lite to breaking point. I tested out every aspect of Nintendo’s brand new Nintendo Switch Lite - the thinner, smaller and lighter version of the original Nintendo Switch. This video is a comparison - a Switch vs Switch Lite (or Switch Lite vs Switch) video, if you will. I test out the system alongside the original Switch with it out of the dock, since the Switch Lite can’t connect to TV’s, and managed to get around to a performance comparison, speed comparison, charge comparison, sleep comparison, sound comparison, battery life comparison - all the pros and cons. Should I buy the Nintendo Switch Lite? Hopefully this video will answer that for you. That’s not all though - along with a Switch Lite review, there’s also an Untitled Goose Game review AND a Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening review. The Link’s Awakening remake, that is. For the Switch. Yeah. So this Caddicarus is more or less a 3-in-one. Hope you like it. I also wear a goose mask and ruin my dog’s day.

You did so, thumbs up and educate the world one pedantic fact at a time.
Though even Caddie with only few years less of life than I must be amazed how far small speaker technology has come with the screens. Unlike screens we keep thinking that rich sound cannot be recreated without big elements and forget you can acoustically go around some practial problems of sound quality, which switch lite does as it has acoustic channeling as part of it's internal speaker elements.

It seems like the last two Nintendo handhelds lost their name sake with their more economic options. 3DS economic solution? The 2ds, no stereoscopic, glasses free 3D. The Switch's economic solution? The Switch Lite. No switching between handheld and console, just handheld mode.

@WhiteFlagsFly YT That's fair. I don't use it much myself unless I get a new game, and I want to know what it looks like with the 3D on. Other than that, the only time I use it more so is on the GB, and GBC virtual console games, so you get that look, where the screen appears indented.
Imagine if that applied further back in time. In 2006, the Nintendo SS! It stands for single screen.
@WhiteFlagsFly YT Honestly, it depends of the game for me. Some games barely use it, and then once in a while, you'd get a game that actually really utilized it to its fullest. Kingdom Hearts 3D comes to mind.

There's something hilariously enchanting hearing "The Fast and the Furious" directly followed by Mario's comically oversized smiling head superimposed onto Vin Diesel's body.
I like the new thumbnails, sure I'll miss the full on cartoon Caddy, but the mix of a cartoony picture with Daddy Caddy's actual head, it's perfect for Caddy's style of videos.
Also I'm glad that the MONTH OF TERAAAAAAAA......(aaaar) is back.

Love how Caddy showed the bottom air vents of the Switch when talking about the speakers (which is on the front, if he's reading this, while the Switch Lite's speakers are on the bottom, hense why they sound different).
Also Caddy owns an old Switch, which lasts for around 3-6 hours. The Switch has got a recent refresh with a more power efficient chipset, causing it to get 6-9 hours of battery.
Hope those interested are informed!

When was that switch refresh? I have the special Smash edition which was relatively new and mine tends to last the 3-4 hours.

The refresh has happened for a month or two now. You acn tell if your Switch is the refreshed model on if the box is red on the front, while the old one is white.
It's unclear of the special edition Switch consoles got the refresh treatment. Regardless on if they have, your model is the old version. It's no biggy, as long as you have a battery bank on you it should be fine.

There has been a revision of the regular Switch that has theoretically extended the battery life past the Switch Lite and also slightly improved the screen brightness, plus a few other things.
Just thought you should know.

Those grates at 17:49 aren't speakers, they're vents for the Switch's cooling system. On the full-sized Switch, the speakers are the slits either side of the screen pointing at the user while on the Switch Lite the speakers are either side of the bottom edge, pointing downwards from the user. The reason why the Switch Lite speakers may sound muffled is because sometimes they get covered by the user's hands while in handheld mode.
If the audio samples in the video were recorded with the Switch consoles placed on a stand, it would also explain why the Switch Lite's audio sounded unclear, since it points in a different direction to the full-sized Switch.
Just wait until the switch lite breaks itself with the joycon drift.

@@thefreelancequeen No, but it's especially bad in this game's case. Same for frame rate. It's improved downloaded. The game was very very poorly optimized for switch. I'm willing to bet it's actually a 3ds game that they ported to switch because the 3ds was failing.

16:00 VERY important thing to note here - The load times in Link's Awakening are very much dependent on whether or not a file was loaded within the same play session. In other words, loading a file after quitting from a game over would achieve different results compared to loading a file upon startup. The extent of the change isn't very concrete, but it can make a difference here and can be a potential factor in the load-time comparison.

I originally wanted a Switch, but the thing seemed to pricey for my taste since I’d mostly use it in portable mode. So this seems like a great thing!

A thing to note Caddy; You likely bought a Switch 1.0, newer Switches on the market now (though they don't say so) are a slightly upgraded 2.0 model. The battery (and overheating I believe) were two issues addressed by this revision. (The Switch 2.0 still has lower battery life than the lite, but not by half, only by an hour on average.)
