Played on switch since launch and tbh it really only ran well till the end of season 4. I had to make the change to a series X cause I couldn’t take the bad performance much longer after so many years of issues.
I hate how they always talk about the switch performance being stuck where it is, meanwhile they have shadows and high render distance. If they really wanted to, they could absolutely squeeze 60 fps out of the switch.
My only complain is that PC players are sharing lobbies with console players. They should be in their own lobbies bc they have more precise shots and quicker response
I started fortnite on the switch day 1 of release and moved to Xbox around season 9 because I wanted to play stw and they also temporarily removed physics on skins
Having been playing fortnite exclusively on the switch since 2018 because it runs better than on my laptop, not including the early days on the switch, the start of chapter 2 and the UE5 change I feel were the biggest bumps with performance issues and frame rates In terms of controls, I used to play with joycons with my hands crossed although I do now use a power a controller but I do feel the joycon's sticks and odd shape didn't make it much harder for me I will say, I hope the "switch 2" has better performance since I don't think fornite will get easier to run over time
iv been playing fortnite on switch since the most feared skin was an omega that wasnt red iv seen this game rise and fall more times then i can count its fine, some people like to really over react about the switch not rendering out every single blade of grass for some reason, but i can still dominate all the same on my home ground.
switch player here, i play with a pro controller with a monitor and its really fun. only complaint is the low fps, if im too close fighting someone (like right in there face) than most of the time the fps drops a lot and you cant fight back but if you keep a reasonable distance it should be fine. (note: if you try trading damage with an AR from medium range 80% of the time you will get lasered).
Hola sólo hablo un poco de español los siento but google translator falled at translating your comment it took it down to like three words and that was I own a Nintendo Switch and a Xbox series x
@@jeremybeaverson7167 don't worry i got ya, "i have a nintendo switch and i also bought the xbox series x, its obvious that its not comparable but its still suprises me that this little console is able to run so heavy games, even on a gamecard of around 32 gb depending on the game, simply incredible"
I remember playing Fortnite back in Chapter One Season 6, and let me tell you, it was WAY better than the current experience. Back then it would technically remain at 30, now it can barely hit that threshold. The shadows still look the same compared then to now, and the textures look MUCH worse.
I wish there was a mod available to the switch that you can hand in to distributors and they'll upgrade the performance of the switch for you. Technology has progressed so far within the switch's life that it is probably doable and it needs a performance upgrade badly. I wouldn't mind if the switch got a little bulkier for cooling if needed. There is also static coolers that are very thin and are pretty effective, I'd say that's the best bet for cooling.
I loved playing fortnite on my switch so much as a kid to the point where I made it my main console with an off brand pro controller, today I would never use my switch over my xbox or pc for FORTNITE. even though I never use the double helix skin, it's still a great skin.
I honestly play on my switch a lot even today and I jump back and forth between my switch and my series X personally I don’t mind the graphical downgrade and even the drop to 30 fps and I love playing it on my switch in handheld (nowadays in my nitro deck love that accessory so shout out) even playing with some friends on pc and helping get some dubs so I’m an odd case I guess but I love it on my switch
Great video, and it's awesome to see how the Switch version developed over the years. No mention of the physics getting disabled in patch 9.30, only to be re-enabled in patch 14.20, 5 seasons later, and still not working correctly in patch 31.30 (now) in its 31st season. Also, performance from chapter 4 season 2 until now has been an absolute horror show to behold. It's basically unplayable right now. Looks the part though. Again, great video, not too many people revisit Fortnite on the Switch.
What are you talking about ???😂😂😂 Fortnite on Switch is so good, it's smooth 30fps & looks sharp enough for handheld. I'm played already 500 hours Fortnite on my Switch Lite that I bought it in February this year ❤❤❤
Yeah you bought it that year because older switches from say 2017 or 2018 have loads of dust in so it makes the switch go really really really really really really really performance mode and goes 14fps on average with no textures loading in up until 5minutes in the match I can tell you that from experience
Strongly disagree. Fortnite looks pretty good as a Nintendo Switch game, but all issues come down mostly to lack of RAM on the system. The fact that it can RUN on Switch even now with the UE5 is REALLY impressive! And grass aside, looks pretty good.
I actually use my switch to play Fortnite a decent amount. I have a lot of trips for work and it’s a pretty cost effective way to play. Obviously would be better with different hardware but it works when you’re bored in a hotel room
Fortnite on switch is trash. Nintendo is great for their first party titles only, everything else and even some of their first party titles can’t even keep a stable 30fps 😂
This was a cool look back at how I used to play the game! Up until the end of 2021 I mainly played on Switch and it was fun but always had it's issues. I play on PC now but I always had a fondness for this version, thankfully I have tons of other games I can play on my Switch in it's place.
My first experience with Fortnite was on my Switch my bro loved Fortnite and hated my switch so he bought a ps4 loved the cross play so I created a second account so i can play with my bro
I mainly play Fortnite on PC, but I do have it on switch, mostly for easier acess to buying those physical skin bundles they sell in stores and for the occasional month of Fortnite Crew, it's just easier to make some purchaces through console and this one is most convenient for me
This graphics changing and becoming more powerful is one of the main reasons that i switched to pc from nintendo switch but it always hold a special place in my heart. From season 5 with the weird ui to having the modern day unreal engine 5 not working as well on the switch i thank nintendo for allowing fortnite on the switch
Considering that ive been playing fn on the switch since c1 season 4, this video was a fun way to reminisce on both the game and improvements over the years
buying a Nintendo switch is what basically got me into Fortnite because I was just looking for free games, and I think almost anyone with a switch can relate to this. I'm thankful for the joy Nintendo switch has gave us, and I think it's time for a refresh for Nintendo switch. When they release a new switch with better performance I'm buying it right off the bat lol
the current season realy shows how bat it has gotten again...constant lags...freeze frames mostly while flying and a lot of visual glitches and stuf...i dont even play br anymore (only reload and creative atm) bc the current big map makes my game lag a lot and its hard to see players that are a bit further away when you dont have a scope on any weapon bc its just all blury after about 200 meters
7:04 actually, the deep freeze bundle wasn’t the first physical release, it was actually a physical version of save the world, they released before br even released, those things are so rare nowadays, no one knows about it
9:28 arent the graphics on the "Medium" setting equivalent? if yes, how about turning them to Low and improve the frame rate? looks like in chapter 2 they changed quality and res
One thing i do appreciate is how many budget entries to gaming there is now. Back in the day, u either had a console/pc or u didnt play ur fav games, nowadays we can play full fortnite on a switch!? I dont even play br as much, but i do occasionally grab it to play custom gamemodes and they run as good as they could on switch, ofc it is no ps5, but im glad younger ppl or ppl with a lower budget can drop $200 on a switch lite and get a pretty good gaming experience
13:02 The Japanese version of PSO2 had a Link BotW outfit (including a female version) only obtainable on switch, Toro, Kuro (Toro and Kuro are Playstation Mascots) and Polytan (mascot of Dengeki, a Playstation magazine) NPC partner characters (Toro and Kuro were only available on PlayStation platforms which included PS3 and Vita which have since been dropped, PSO2 still has no cross-play for PS4 and PS5 BTW in spite of once being the biggest online RPG in Japan), the Sega Hard [ware] Girls in their chibi forms as little accessories that go on your head and shoulders (but I always used the acessory edit feature to have them float above me) as well as countless other video game and anime collab items. The global release also added a Gordon freeman costume, Pyro's mask, Heavy's minigun as a launcher weapon skin (should have been a rifle skin frankly as they're fully automatic while launchers work like rocket launchers) and IIRC, there was a Wheatly cosmetic too but I forget if there was or what it was. The Epic Games and Windows 10/Xbox releases had no cosmetics IIRC, though there were a couple of items you could get with Game Pass, including an Xbox controller.
Went home for christmas and took the Switch, the only match that I played, I hid in a bush until there were 2 because of how bad the input delay was. It was a nice detox.
I play Fortnite on Nintendo Switch. The only thing is the graphics speed. Like your skin loads in 5 seconds after you appear on the island. And the FPS is lower than anywhere (like phone can do better), but it is still very comfortable to play
Was playing Fortnite on Nintendo switch since day one. I loved and preferred the switch port of the game for a while. Even though I don’t play Fortnite anymore, I still have great memories playing the game on switch.
FN looks fire, although as a switch player this is very intresting, tbh id like a "lower graphical quality" option, which is low meshes, no shadows and medium textures, a lower quality for consistancy (and a smidge of extra resolution)
Also during the time it was coming out physically, there was people spring misleading information about companies like GameStop selling a free-to-play game🤦 Awesome video👍
I think Fortnite on switch is actually better than ever. Everything before chapter5 was horrendous. But my bro was playing on the seitch for a few matches and I never heard him say a single thing about lag. There wasn’t any of it, unlike before. Switch is looking like a viable option for Fortnite now(so far).
I had the Helix skin on my switch. It was my first time getting a switch, and it was a birthday present in October 2018 by my mom and grandmother. I didn't want the fortnite version, i didn't really care for fortnite, but they said it was the same price as a normal one and they didn't have any other ones, so my family just got it for me. I ended up using it on my account and played with my friends, it was one of the rarest skins and my friends thought it was dumb i had my own switch skin. I'm pretty sure i lost that skin, because my old switch broke like 2 years ago. And that epic account that i had it on, i don't use anymore. It's just kind of nostalgic looking back at that point in my life. I remember just turning 14 years old, i was in junior high, life was simple and i was safe, no worries in sight for a long time.
to correct your statement on STW, the reason it never made it to the Switch is due to how intense STW is in general. The Switch already deals with performance hikes all the time and one issue with STW is that it utilizes so many effects to a higher degree than BR does (that even the PS4 version struggles to get 60FPS)
by effects, i’m referencing the storm, lightning, etc. Also STW sold 1 million copies in 2017 so it definitely wasn’t a failure. sure BR got more attention but STW also had millions in sales within the 1st month or so
I played it recently in switch (my nephew plays on switch ) and I think it's fine. Maybe not the prettiest, but it performs well enough for the average joe. I'm surprised that it runs as well as it does. Sure, my phone dominates over it but still. Not bad for an 8 year old chipset!
So I have played on switch since I have started (Chapter 2 Season 5) and it has always been mid but I have never had the opportunity to play on a different platform! I still think I am pretty good as im diamond 1 in build and plat 2 in no build
I played on only Switch until middle of chapter 2 when I got a ps4 And it honestly ran and looked surprisingly well until around Season 8 then it got way better again c2s1 until just getting worse again I think UE5 was the final nail in the coffin
It's frankly amazing how much optimisation has allowed the switch to run so well for so long. It's got to be running out of time but damn it's punching for what's basically an android tablet
Tbh, the only reason I have Fortnite on my Switch is portability, and if the graphics are the price i need to pay, so be it ! It's super useful to be able to take it to a friend's house and each play on their own console easily or just to be able to lay down in bed and play instead of my usual PC setup which can get a bit uncomfy when it comes to extended play sessions
samus was supposed to come to the game during chapter 2 season 5 but was cut due to nintendo asking epic to only make her visibile to nintendo switch players
I'm forced to play Fortnite on Nintendo Switch since my network can't support cloud gaming and I can't play on my Mac since Fortnite isn't developed for Apple computers anymore. Even after Fortnite pulled itself from the App Store on IOS, Fortnite it could still be available on Mac. You can run any program from the internet. Fortnite could totally develop the game for Mac again but I don't know why they're not.
I recently got back into Fortnite and I only have a switch to play it. There isn't much I have to complain about, but there are issues still there. Seeing other people's cosmetics would be nice instead of having a bunch of defaults running around. Sometimes my friend will go up to to a player and say they think the skin is cool, only for them to be met with my confusion, as I cannot see the skin. Loading in is also an issue I've run into. I do wish I could load in on spawn island and run around with my friends before a match instead of me being stuck on the loading screen. I've also had a few times where I will load in on the battle bus well after the bus has begun flying and my teammates will already be landing on the ground while I'm just then getting into the match with the bus already having traveled halfway across the island.
It actually looks and runs pretty good now, Season OG definitely improved upon the graphics this time around. Chapter 4 on Switch was dreadful so i'm happy they actually put some love into the Switch port for once.

In terms of controls, I used to play with joycons with my hands crossed although I do now use a power a controller but I do feel the joycon's sticks and odd shape didn't make it much harder for me
I will say, I hope the "switch 2" has better performance since I don't think fornite will get easier to run over time
Your laptop must be ass then.
iv been playing fortnite on switch since the most feared skin was an omega that wasnt red
iv seen this game rise and fall more times then i can count
its fine, some people like to really over react about the switch not rendering out every single blade of grass for some reason, but i can still dominate all the same on my home ground.
switch player here, i play with a pro controller with a monitor and its really fun. only complaint is the low fps, if im too close fighting someone (like right in there face) than most of the time the fps drops a lot and you cant fight back but if you keep a reasonable distance it should be fine. (note: if you try trading damage with an AR from medium range 80% of the time you will get lasered).
Hola sólo hablo un poco de español los siento but google translator falled at translating your comment it took it down to like three words and that was I own a Nintendo Switch and a Xbox series x
But I think you were saying that the difference is incredible???
There is also static coolers that are very thin and are pretty effective, I'd say that's the best bet for cooling.
thats a steam deck lol
I loved playing fortnite on my switch so much as a kid to the point where I made it my main console with an off brand pro controller, today I would never use my switch over my xbox or pc for FORTNITE. even though I never use the double helix skin, it's still a great skin.
I honestly play on my switch a lot even today and I jump back and forth between my switch and my series X personally I don’t mind the graphical downgrade and even the drop to 30 fps and I love playing it on my switch in handheld (nowadays in my nitro deck love that accessory so shout out) even playing with some friends on pc and helping get some dubs so I’m an odd case I guess but I love it on my switch
as someone who plays on switch religiously I would say it feels better than ever, especially in ranked as I'm elite and I can still fight smoothly
I just wish Epic would allow Fortnite to run on Steam Deck's SteamOS...
That would be amazing
Just install windows on your deck
I'm played already 500 hours Fortnite on my Switch Lite that I bought it in February this year ❤❤❤
That’s awesome!
30 fps is crazy its so smooth
Its fantastic the small joystick is the best its so easy to play😃 the graphic is soo good
1v1 funny man I'm on lite too
Yeah you bought it that year because older switches from say 2017 or 2018 have loads of dust in so it makes the switch go really really really really really really really performance mode and goes 14fps on average with no textures loading in up until 5minutes in the match I can tell you that from experience
Bro that’s the biggest lie I’ve heard this whole year
“Loading in takes longer than the other systems”
My Xbox one friend who loads in a full minute later than me on switch:
Keep up the good work 😊
Thanks!
Bro I love your videos, your FNAF on switch video actually pushed me to buy the game because I’ve never played it before and it’s SO MUCH FUN!!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed
Strongly disagree. Fortnite looks pretty good as a Nintendo Switch game, but all issues come down mostly to lack of RAM on the system. The fact that it can RUN on Switch even now with the UE5 is REALLY impressive! And grass aside, looks pretty good.
Switch only battle Royale lobbies were amazing. I miss before cross platform
Its a article BUT way less boring
I actually use my switch to play Fortnite a decent amount. I have a lot of trips for work and it’s a pretty cost effective way to play. Obviously would be better with different hardware but it works when you’re bored in a hotel room
Fortnite on switch is trash. Nintendo is great for their first party titles only, everything else and even some of their first party titles can’t even keep a stable 30fps 😂
Ouch
This was a cool look back at how I used to play the game! Up until the end of 2021 I mainly played on Switch and it was fun but always had it's issues. I play on PC now but I always had a fondness for this version, thankfully I have tons of other games I can play on my Switch in it's place.
Everyone loves OG Fortnite, that's why we came back
My first experience with Fortnite was on my Switch my bro loved Fortnite and hated my switch so he bought a ps4 loved the cross play so I created a second account so i can play with my bro
I mainly play Fortnite on PC, but I do have it on switch, mostly for easier acess to buying those physical skin bundles they sell in stores and for the occasional month of Fortnite Crew, it's just easier to make some purchaces through console and this one is most convenient for me
The Switch version was the only way to play when I first started. This completely changed years of my life, no joke!
I played Fortnite on Switch from Season 5 to Ch2 Season 1 and you unlocked a lot of memories
This was how I first played fortnite! We were actually in other switch lobbies so basically every enemy was a new player.
As a switch user, the game was at it's worst in chapter 3 when the map was too big to load properly and I got stuck in polygon land
can you play fortnight on switch now? if i was to buy a switch can i play it?
This graphics changing and becoming more powerful is one of the main reasons that i switched to pc from nintendo switch but it always hold a special place in my heart. From season 5 with the weird ui to having the modern day unreal engine 5 not working as well on the switch i thank nintendo for allowing fortnite on the switch
Same. I have a really good pc now that I don’t think I’d even have if Nintendo said no to Fortnite on switch
I’m still playing Fortnite on my switch till this day
Considering that ive been playing fn on the switch since c1 season 4, this video was a fun way to reminisce on both the game and improvements over the years
Every time I’m playing fortnite with my brother when I get into the loading first it still takes me longer to get into the actual lobby
21:01 Erm aren't all days numbered?? It's called a calendar.
Skull emojí
buying a Nintendo switch is what basically got me into Fortnite because I was just looking for free games, and I think almost anyone with a switch can relate to this. I'm thankful for the joy Nintendo switch has gave us, and I think it's time for a refresh for Nintendo switch. When they release a new switch with better performance I'm buying it right off the bat lol
Cant wait for the next Switch Pro and see what Fortnite looks like then
the current season realy shows how bat it has gotten again...constant lags...freeze frames mostly while flying and a lot of visual glitches and stuf...i dont even play br anymore (only reload and creative atm) bc the current big map makes my game lag a lot and its hard to see players that are a bit further away when you dont have a scope on any weapon bc its just all blury after about 200 meters
As someone who played on switch for two years, it has gotten SO much worse.
I’m an ex switch gamer that switched to Xbox series s. Fortnite on switch was fun, but it lacks power. The switch hinders your skills A LOT.
Fortnite is still way better than the almost abandoned mobile version 😭
As someone whos always been playing on the switch since season 4 till this day
This video makes me happy bout the switch struggle for this game
Finally someone talks about the history of fortnite on the switch
Just let us enable performance mode and get a better frame rate!
We could also have the option to change it!
FN looks fire, although as a switch player this is very intresting, tbh id like a "lower graphical quality" option, which is low meshes, no shadows and medium textures, a lower quality for consistancy (and a smidge of extra resolution)
like the setting you get on pc?
@@AsaadNordien yes
Also during the time it was coming out physically, there was people spring misleading information about companies like GameStop selling a free-to-play game🤦
Awesome video👍
As a player who played 4000 hours of switch Fortnite the change between the switch to a ps5 was massive
Also STW sold 1 million copies in 2017 so it definitely wasn’t a failure. sure BR got more attention but STW also had millions in sales within the 1st month or so
For someone who was stuck on the switch... I hated it. But switching to ps4 in chapter 4 season 3 i LOVE IT
Can we appreciate the usage of the great Fortnite original themes as background music?! I mean race to the horizon is such a banger!
Fortnite on the switch when it came out was so much fun
your videos are a beacon of clarity and inspiration!
As a fortnite player on switch for a while, i had my mom get me a pc for the holidays 😂
I played it recently in switch (my nephew plays on switch ) and I think it's fine. Maybe not the prettiest, but it performs well enough for the average joe. I'm surprised that it runs as well as it does. Sure, my phone dominates over it but still. Not bad for an 8 year old chipset!
I really hope they follow through with samus one day bc it would be cool to have a big icon from xbox, playstation, and nintendo.
So I have played on switch since I have started (Chapter 2 Season 5) and it has always been mid but I have never had the opportunity to play on a different platform!
I still think I am pretty good as im diamond 1 in build and plat 2 in no build
I played on only Switch until middle of chapter 2 when I got a ps4
And it honestly ran and looked surprisingly well until around Season 8
then it got way better again c2s1 until just getting worse again
I think UE5 was the final nail in the coffin
It's frankly amazing how much optimisation has allowed the switch to run so well for so long. It's got to be running out of time but damn it's punching for what's basically an android tablet
Tbh, the only reason I have Fortnite on my Switch is portability, and if the graphics are the price i need to pay, so be it ! It's super useful to be able to take it to a friend's house and each play on their own console easily or just to be able to lay down in bed and play instead of my usual PC setup which can get a bit uncomfy when it comes to extended play sessions
samus was supposed to come to the game during chapter 2 season 5 but was cut due to nintendo asking epic to only make her visibile to nintendo switch players
back in the day with cross play winning on the switch was such an achievement with its crappy everything.
I don't have a Windows PC powerful enough for Fortnite
thanks for the fantastic insights, really opened my eyes!
I first played Fortnite because of the Switch. I first played Chapter 1 Season 7. It ran well besides the laggy internet
