Welcome back. Angelina is nothing if not fearless and willing to drag pretty much any song back to her cave and do her magic to it in large ways and small. There is no answer to "why" the simple sets etc. from Angelina (and maybe never will be) but I noticed it is in a sense completely different from the original. Her stillness, her sitting, the monochromatic sets, the single camera view used throughout, all say "nothing to see here really, just listen". It is almost as though Angelina is making the point that all she needs to transform this iconic piece is her voice, nothing else, no moon-walk, certainly no glove. Angelina is just maybe starting to exert herself into an industry that isn't prepared for what she will do.
And no sexualizing of the performance whatsoever, despite the fact that she is now drop dead gorgeous. You have have massive respect for this young lady.

Lucas, this is not done through her record label. She has the freedom to do cover songs on her YT Cover Channel, so it is all Angelina & family. It was directed & edited by her maternal uncle/manager, Michael Astar. The LA studio has many different colored, monochromatic rooms. She doesn't name the pianist or whether it is a karaoke track. She covered the Beatles, Yesterday, at the same studio, singing in a shopping cart to a karaoke backing track. They are just upgrades of what she has done for years on her cover channel. @@michaelpape3793 She does a lot of short one-offs on social media too, the ones mxmii (or something) converts to TH-cam The audio on them is atrocious, but it's her having fun, so you gotta love it. And I can believe they are giving her all the creative freedom she wants, that is not a talent you want to stifle.
She's more than capable of playing that piano herself though, so that might be a reason for not naming the pianist. But I absolutely love that she just puts it on youtube like that. It's probably a good source of income, a way to feed the fans without having to put too much into it and getting some feedback at the same time.

If you haven’t seen it, look on TH-cam for the video of Angelina in pre-school. It shows her “will” early on, her aggravation of a room full of kids all singing the same traditional Christmas songs and her totally not wanting to participate and her frustration with her mother or someone recording her. It’s hilarious, and shows me that from a very early age, she is aware that an artist doesn’t perform the way the classmates are having to, and she obviously doesn’t want to!

I absolutely love this redo. She sits still throughout this video--so the opposite of what MJ did. She's not trying to be MJ. It could very well be that Quincy Jones inspired her to this challenge. I totally love this. Some people don't like the color stuff with this video, but I think it is a nod to the era of MJ and his colorful saga. What MJ achieved, in spite of what might crush some children, is incredible. To me she is on Bourbon St in New Orleans. If you wish, look at Courtney Hadwin in one of her covers. Another old Rock soul just starting in her music. From 6 to almost 16, she has been amazing people with her unbelievable talent. Angelina’s manager from the beginning is her uncle Michael Astar. From article of Music Norway interview we learn that Michael was raised in Japan and music was always his passion. After his family moved to Norway, Michael became a hip-hop DJ. As a 16-year old he was a DJ at 21+ night clubs in Oslo, Norway, getting the gigs because he looked older and no one asked his age before being hired. After getting tired of being a DJ, Michael started a music management company in 2013, and 3 months later, with no clients yet, Angelina signed-up to try out for Norway’s Got Talent. Angelina’s first audition when 7-years old was a cover of Billie Holiday’s song “Gloomy Sunday” that went viral when it got uploaded to TH-cam. Then Angelina won Norway’s Got Talent, had other viral TH-cams, performed on Norway, US and other TV shows and her career started to take off. Eventually she had over 1 billion views of her performances on TH-cam and Facebook before Angelina’s appearances on the American’s Got Talent - The Champions show. Her performances there further accelerated her career. At this point, Angelina asked her uncle Michael if it was possible for her to move to the US to pursue her music dreams. Michael says this was a tough call, and he asked himself questions like; how on earth are you going to pull this off? What about a VISA? What about finances? Are you willing to sell everything you have and own, and also get a loan to risk everything? Michael related that “These were questions I had to ask myself, several times a day. Having recently become a father and with COVID-19, time has become even busier and more crazy than usual. “There is a lot of stuff happening with Angelina, and it requires daily briefings with a lot of people.” America’s Got Talent had always been interested in bringing Angelina to the show, but with their normal contract, artists are being locked into a label, management, and other things for many years. Michael says that it did not matter if you get exposure or not, it was out of the question to give away that many rights. This kind of patience eventually paid off. Michael said that “Some time passed and they again contacted me, asking if she wanted to sing on their show. I convinced them to give me a contract where Angelina is free from any deal if she performs, she is great for their TV show and Angelina will get the exposure she needs to breakthrough, because I knew, the talent is one of the kind like no other, I just needed her to be seen and was on a daily hunt for how to get the right spot for her in the USA.” After, Angelina’s success on America’s Got Talent, she eventually signed with Republic Records in August 2020 where Angelina was told she was Republic’s highest priority new artist. Michael says the commitment with the right interest in mind has been one of the most important things when choosing a team and partners to be part of Angelina’s team. “You also need to choose someone with the right chemistry. These are the people you have to deal with on a daily basis, you have to have a good feeling and chemistry with the team you choose.” Although no specifics yet, Michael says that the plans for Angelina include going global. Advice from Michael: “Go with your instinct, it never fails, crazy how nature does that. Always be humble, you get way further being a nice person, people tend to be nice back. Always read the contract. Find a good lawyer (It’s super hard to find the good one, but with dedication, you can). Don’t rely on people, you want something done? Do it yourself. So, she enjoys doing “jazzy” covers like “Billie Jean,” but Republic is promoting her more mellow sound. Hi Lukas, if you have problems with reactions beeing blocked u can reupload them with either blurred video or a banner over the video. That seems to do the trick. The reaction will be the same its just the image we see of the vid thats different. There are a few reactors who do all their reactions that way now and if people wanna see the original video theres no stopping them going to the original artist page =)

Dimash and his people highly value youtube Dears, and reactors (if not all). I know they've posted favorable comments to The Charismatic Voice (Elizabeth Zharoff, vocal coach, opera singer, very into and knowledgeable all sorts of music) and approve of her access to Dimash works. Apparently youtube programs/algorithms/? are the problem. But youtube is the venue that has brought Dimash into the western world, one of his goals, and I'm sure he/they are very aware. You are definitely not the only one subject to this discouragement. There are different methods of fighting this, mainly various effects to disguise (sometimes completely obscure) the subject video, effects accessed in the software used to make the reaction videos. I just observe all this, have no firsthand knowledge of the processes. But don't give up! I enjoy your reactions.

Of course she has courage. When she was seven, she said, on stage on live national TV, that she felt ready to go public a few years ago. This young woman certainly knows what she's capable of. I really hope that she will continue to explore herself through different genres like this. I can't imagine how her interpretations of Metallica would sound like, but I try to imagine a soulful and jazzy version of «Sad but true» :)
@Lukas_Hassel: I didn't know you are/were a film-maker! ... others have commented below that these monochrome sets are a 'semi-permanent' feature of a well-known LA location ... Angelina walks through them in one of her Tik Toks and there are other colours besides the ones we see here. I guess they are on a pre-lit sound stage, so you just plonk your camera down, set it to a wide shot and press the go button. I think that when Michael Astar or whoever, decided to include multiple rooms they realised they would have to shoot to playback audio, which explains the lack of close-ups and the use of the microphone to cover her lipsync errors. Looks like a total 3-hour shoot to me ... could have been done with a crew of one and an hour to edit ... ! As someone else has commented, proves once again that when the 'talent' is top class, a bare stage with one working light is all you need! R (Australia)
@@lengould9262 Hi ... when you record multiple takes to playback, there are inevitably slight differences in each take, most visible in the singer's lips. Even a difference of 3 frames (3/25 of a second) is noticeable. It can be fixed by varying the video playback speed but it's fiddly and takes time ... for a fast turnaround and to keep costs low, masking the problem by avoiding close-ups and asking the artist to hold the mic directly in front of her lips is a quick and dirty solution! ☺ Additional: Have a look at her performance of 'Spell aged 9 - black & white' to see examples of the troubles Per Heimly had with lipsync when editing in post to a master audio track!
Many have put a semi transparent filter over Dimash's video so they don't get blocked. I hope you can do this as I would love to see your reaction to Stranger and also his two other new songs from the same show. Lucas, this is not done through her record label. She has the freedom to do cover songs on her YT Cover Channel, so it is all Angelina & family. It was directed & edited by her maternal uncle/manager, Michael Astar. The LA studio has many different colored, monochromatic rooms. She doesn't name the pianist or whether it is a karaoke track. She covered the Beatles, Yesterday, at the same studio, singing in a shopping cart to a karaoke backing track. They are just upgrades of what she has done for years on her cover channel. @@michaelpape3793 She does a lot of short one-offs on social media too, the ones mxmii (or something) converts to TH-cam The audio on them is atrocious, but it's her having fun, so you gotta love it. And I can believe they are giving her all the creative freedom she wants, that is not a talent you want to stifle.
She's more than capable of playing that piano herself though, so that might be a reason for not naming the pianist. But I absolutely love that she just puts it on youtube like that. It's probably a good source of income, a way to feed the fans without having to put too much into it and getting some feedback at the same time.

If you haven’t seen it, look on TH-cam for the video of Angelina in pre-school. It shows her “will” early on, her aggravation of a room full of kids all singing the same traditional Christmas songs and her totally not wanting to participate and her frustration with her mother or someone recording her. It’s hilarious, and shows me that from a very early age, she is aware that an artist doesn’t perform the way the classmates are having to, and she obviously doesn’t want to!

Lukas, sir, AJ was introduced by a friend to the Jacksons for her version of "heal the world". I read, that Mama Jackson is a big fan of Angelina. Also I think the Jacksons might be impressed by the personal friendship AJ has with his Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, who wanted her to sing live on TV. I absolutely love this redo. She sits still throughout this video--so the opposite of what MJ did. She's not trying to be MJ. It could very well be that Quincy Jones inspired her to this challenge. I totally love this. Some people don't like the color stuff with this video, but I think it is a nod to the era of MJ and his colorful saga. What MJ achieved, in spite of what might crush some children, is incredible. Hello Lukas, my first time to see you. You have that older view of music. Mine is a little older that yours, 1950’s-60’s. She is an old sole in a young body, wish I knew how that is. To me she is on Bourbon St in New Orleans. If you wish, look at Courtney Hadwin in one of her covers. Another old Rock soul just starting in her music. I really love this older music, guess it takes me back….. 👍

She has now done the song “Mercy” in the soundtrack of “Hating Game Movie” that just came out.

Angelina’s manager from the beginning is her uncle Michael Astar. From article of Music Norway interview we learn that Michael was raised in Japan and music was always his passion. After his family moved to Norway, Michael became a hip-hop DJ. As a 16-year old he was a DJ at 21+ night clubs in Oslo, Norway, getting the gigs because he looked older and no one asked his age before being hired.
After getting tired of being a DJ, Michael started a music management company in 2013, and 3 months later, with no clients yet, Angelina signed-up to try out for Norway’s Got Talent. Angelina’s first audition when 7-years old was a cover of Billie Holiday’s song “Gloomy Sunday” that went viral when it got uploaded to TH-cam. Then Angelina won Norway’s Got Talent, had other viral TH-cams, performed on Norway, US and other TV shows and her career started to take off. Eventually she had over 1 billion views of her performances on TH-cam and Facebook before Angelina’s appearances on the American’s Got Talent - The Champions show. Her performances there further accelerated her career.
At this point, Angelina asked her uncle Michael if it was possible for her to move to the US to pursue her music dreams. Michael says this was a tough call, and he asked himself questions like; how on earth are you going to pull this off? What about a VISA? What about finances? Are you willing to sell everything you have and own, and also get a loan to risk everything? Michael related that “These were questions I had to ask myself, several times a day. Then, I remembered, what did my mom do when she went to Japan? She didn’t even talk Japanese or knew anyone. She did it because she risked everything for a better future.”
So, Michael flew alone to Los Angeles, studied and learned anything he could learn from the people he got to know during his time in the Industry. After gathering a bunch of people, he came back to Norway and started the process. He indicated that “A few months later, I told her, PACK YOUR BAGS! We are going next week to pursue your dream! All in baby. Her smile made it all worth the hassle.”
“We stayed patient because the way this industry works is bizarre and you have to dodge bullets right and left to get anywhere. But would I do it again? Of course! Life without challenge is boring," Michael says.
For Michael, a lot of his time involves talking with industry people, to see what’s happening out there. Having recently become a father and with COVID-19, time has become even busier and more crazy than usual. “There is a lot of stuff happening with Angelina, and it requires daily briefings with a lot of people.”
America’s Got Talent had always been interested in bringing Angelina to the show, but with their normal contract, artists are being locked into a label, management, and other things for many years. Michael says that it did not matter if you get exposure or not, it was out of the question to give away that many rights.
This kind of patience eventually paid off. Michael said that “Some time passed and they again contacted me, asking if she wanted to sing on their show. I convinced them to give me a contract where Angelina is free from any deal if she performs, she is great for their TV show and Angelina will get the exposure she needs to breakthrough, because I knew, the talent is one of the kind like no other, I just needed her to be seen and was on a daily hunt for how to get the right spot for her in the USA.”
After, Angelina’s success on America’s Got Talent, she eventually signed with Republic Records in August 2020 where Angelina was told she was Republic’s highest priority new artist. Michael says the commitment with the right interest in mind has been one of the most important things when choosing a team and partners to be part of Angelina’s team. “You also need to choose someone with the right chemistry. These are the people you have to deal with on a daily basis, you have to have a good feeling and chemistry with the team you choose.”
Although no specifics yet, Michael says that the plans for Angelina include going global.
Advice from Michael: “Go with your instinct, it never fails, crazy how nature does that. Always be humble, you get way further being a nice person, people tend to be nice back. Always read the contract. Find a good lawyer (It’s super hard to find the good one, but with dedication, you can). Don’t rely on people, you want something done? Do it yourself. If you are good at something, never do it for free (Quote from the Joker).”

Hi Lukas, if you have problems with reactions beeing blocked u can reupload them with either blurred video or a banner over the video. That seems to do the trick. The reaction will be the same its just the image we see of the vid thats different. There are a few reactors who do all their reactions that way now and if people wanna see the original video theres no stopping them going to the original artist page =)

After listening to this a few times, I forget there ever was another person who sang it. She just ends up owning the song she covers , period.
Dimash and his people highly value youtube Dears, and reactors (if not all). I know they've posted favorable comments to The Charismatic Voice (Elizabeth Zharoff, vocal coach, opera singer, very into and knowledgeable all sorts of music) and approve of her access to Dimash works. Apparently youtube programs/algorithms/? are the problem. But youtube is the venue that has brought Dimash into the western world, one of his goals, and I'm sure he/they are very aware. You are definitely not the only one subject to this discouragement. There are different methods of fighting this, mainly various effects to disguise (sometimes completely obscure) the subject video, effects accessed in the software used to make the reaction videos. I just observe all this, have no firsthand knowledge of the processes. But don't give up! I enjoy your reactions.
You could watch Angelina Jordan singing "Unchained Melody" at the Nobel Peace event (KORK). She is now 17 years old and spectacular.

Of course she has courage. When she was seven, she said, on stage on live national TV, that she felt ready to go public a few years ago. This young woman certainly knows what she's capable of. I really hope that she will continue to explore herself through different genres like this. I can't imagine how her interpretations of Metallica would sound like, but I try to imagine a soulful and jazzy version of «Sad but true» :)
@Lukas_Hassel: I didn't know you are/were a film-maker! ... others have commented below that these monochrome sets are a 'semi-permanent' feature of a well-known LA location ... Angelina walks through them in one of her Tik Toks and there are other colours besides the ones we see here. I guess they are on a pre-lit sound stage, so you just plonk your camera down, set it to a wide shot and press the go button. I think that when Michael Astar or whoever, decided to include multiple rooms they realised they would have to shoot to playback audio, which explains the lack of close-ups and the use of the microphone to cover her lipsync errors. Looks like a total 3-hour shoot to me ... could have been done with a crew of one and an hour to edit ... ! As someone else has commented, proves once again that when the 'talent' is top class, a bare stage with one working light is all you need! R (Australia)

@@lengould9262 Hi ... when you record multiple takes to playback, there are inevitably slight differences in each take, most visible in the singer's lips. Even a difference of 3 frames (3/25 of a second) is noticeable. It can be fixed by varying the video playback speed but it's fiddly and takes time ... for a fast turnaround and to keep costs low, masking the problem by avoiding close-ups and asking the artist to hold the mic directly in front of her lips is a quick and dirty solution! ☺
Additional: Have a look at her performance of 'Spell aged 9 - black & white' to see examples of the troubles Per Heimly had with lipsync when editing in post to a master audio track!
Many have put a semi transparent filter over Dimash's video so they don't get blocked. I hope you can do this as I would love to see your reaction to Stranger and also his two other new songs from the same show.
