I appreciate you noticing the effort put in. Lets just say, I broke 300 hours today lmao. I didn't want anyone to feel left out by not finishing certain characters since every character has been asked for a bunch by different people.
I"m fairly certain Sothis is the strongest character in the game. She uses magic, her ability is decently strong, she has 4 of the main 5 optional damage multipliers and I don't think anyone has all five so that's the max amount and she doesn't self-damage which makes her sustain a joke. The only thing she's missing is "Flare" and maybe an elemental essence skill although with how well she does as a Mortal Savant, she doesn't really need the elemental skill. As far as stats goes, she's also insanely gifted. The sum of her total base stats is 109 (100 HP counts for 1 stat) while by comparison Shez has 104. And at lvl 120 it's even worse considering that the sum of Sothis' growth rates is ~5.53 compared to Shez's 4.55. That means that Sothis gains almost 1 whole additional stat point per level (or has in average 116 more stat points at max level than Shez). I am gonna test a physical version with dual onslaught and Luna though, because Sothis has the highest Luck growth in the entire fricking game. Without any class growths, she ends up at 105 luck. That means if you use mortal savant (for the str/mag/luck) for 60 level, then you can go sniper for 30 levels of luck and some str/dex and finally you go brute force for the last 29 level as a Wyvern lord for some speed and as much strength as possible. That gives you final stats of 75 Str for base damage, 120 mag for dual Onslaught and Sublime Heaven, 120 luck for max Luna. On one side you lose the bonus from the magic staff without proficient witstrike (while Sublime Heaven scale with magic, it's still a physical attack, same for dual onslaught magic staff doesn't affect it) and the raw damage from max magic, on the other side you add to your str scaling a mag scaling from Dual Onslaught. Meanwhile you lose the advantage of fighting against Res which is way lower in average but you gain a def debuff on the enemy with max power Luna. And you get an accessory slot that you can use for example for more critical hits. You also lose one passive slot but that's really not an issue imo, with no self-damaging moves, Sol is barely necessary when you have 5 potions.. The issue is, I can't test to see if how viable it is compared to just using proficient witstrike. I know that 80 luck luna is around 10% more on lvl 180 heavy armored units like Ferdinand and his 176 def (I haven't even tried Mr 243 def, Dedue himself), and around 15% dmg more on Lorenz or Ashe. Not sure what 120 luck luna would give as a result though cause I haven't finished building Sothis yet. Only Mercedes, Edelgard, Lorenz and Hubert have high res (and "high res" means around 120 res, not like high def which is 175 to 240 for Ferdinand/Leonie/Dedue) so I'll have to test but I bet on proficient witstrike being the superior option despite Luna.

I was only discussing units in the "Eagles, Lions and Deers" paralogue in which Rodrigue isn't present since that paralogue is basically the hardest challenge in the game so it's a good measuring stick for builds). From what I could find online, Rodrigue res is the highest among the characters that I could find, but I don't know what Sothis' res is so hers might be higher, I'll have to check. edit: Rodrigue's res starts at 11 at lvl 1 and end up at 98 by lvl 120. that's 87 res over 119 level or a growth rate of 0.731. Sothis' res starts at 11 too and ends up at 99 so yeah it seems she's slightly better. 88 res over 119 level = 0.739 growth rate for res. Barely better but better.
Okay so Sothis is very strong yes. I mean she does get unlocked in post game right? Her stats are very good overall, like you said Sothis has a bunch of non damaging greater abilities, not just that but since I didn't level her to 120 its hard to compare the damage with Lysithea or Hubert. HOWEVER, with that being said I have a theory that I have a hard time proving about the dark creator sword and lysithea. You know how usually the description tells us the bonuses we get given the right crest or character? The dark creator sword mentions that only a dual created user can properly use the sword, or how ever its phrased. It may just be flavor text, but I think that dual crested characters actually get a boost in damage when using the sword. When you run the sword of lysithea, the damage tends to get out of control even more then when you use it on another character. The other thing we need to consider is, if were planning on maxing a character with all the stat boosters, and we just had the abilities, would Sothis measure up when compared to all the other characters? You have given me a lot of food for thought, thank you. I'm gonna be making a tier list soon so this sorta information is what I need right now to make the best decisions I could for the community.
Funnily enough, I tried to make a build for Sothis over the weekend, but it left me somehow with more questions than answers. I levelled up mostly as Mortal Savant in order to cap Mag, Luck and Charm, so I could run both Luck Catalyst and Charm Catalyst, but what I found peculiar was the interaction between Sothis, Luna, and Proficient Witstrike From what I can tell from testing, Proficient Witstrike makes your damage calculated as though it was a Magic attack (as opposed to the wording of the skill, which implies it attacks Def instead of Res), as it doesn't stack damage with Luna. What was weird, though, is that when I took Proficient Witstrike off (so regular attacks use Str instead of Mag) and ran Luna+Dual Onslaught, my damage output was ~3-4 times as high as with Proficient Witstrike+Dual Onslaught. I dunno if you tried this with your testing or if overkill Lck somehow causes Luna to wrap around, but I was interested to know your thoughts on Luna Sothis.
I would have to put in some time to test this, I don't have a whole lot of time right now since im releasing 2 videos a day but when time starts to open up I'll check it out.
Personally I built my sothis as a trickster because I felt like too many of my characters were mortal savant aswell as I feel it fits the character more
Sothis should of had access to Enlightened one because her kit wants her to be melee or mounted but her growths,abilities, and combat arts want her to deal magic damage. Its missed potential she needs sublime creator sword the be the most useful or go through RNG hell for a weapon with perfect slots. Like I get why they didnt give her Byleth's freeze time ability because they wanted Byleth to be unique but this here really hurts her alot. Also speaking of ruined potential the sublime creator sword is Byleth's signature weapon but its terrible on them because they dont get any natural bonuses from hit count. Its odd how both Byleth and sothis feel like they were too worried about making them too op and stand out too much but instead of fixing the damage output they just punished their kits to make them irrelevant entirely.

Its a huge missed opportunity. They should have just allowed us to keep all of our unlocks in new game plus so we can use anyone we want. I get that it could break the game a bit, but its new game plus, thats what new game plus is for! lol

They do not. They kinda interfere with one another. Dual Onslaught is severely over rated tbh, at most your gonna get a 10% boost which may sound significant but when a prowess ability gives you 30% its really not. I use it as a filler ability since any boost is better then none, but Witstrike on the other hand is completely broken. You just got to be careful with it, since it makes all damage based off your magic stat. So if your super high STR and super low Magic, witstrike will weaken your character.
Yeah for sure, you could do that. I just prefer mortal Savants kit. Not just that but if you don't use the creator sword on Sothis her damage is reduced by 50% instantly. So the Gremory varient is a very big drop in dps overall. Luckily though Sothis is strong enough where even after that drop Gremory will still be strong.
