    How are the face buttons after this amount of time using it? Are they still crisp? The edge felt that it was softer to push than the standard DualSense, but it might have been a design decision. Takes a bit of getting used to, but it worries me a bit regarding the durability of the membranes.

      @@iamthegamingnerd Nice to know. I mean, you'd see boatloads of complains in forums regarding this "mushy" button, but I kind of feel like this is by design and it actually feels pretty good ergonomically as I've been using a much cheaper controller on PC (Gulikit) with way crisper buttons. They're what I used to be used with and getting the dualsense edge, gave me an initial impression of an abused controller button (but it was just me at the beginning lol). Overall, I prefer this short distance button presses now and if it's all good with you then I've nothing to complain then :)

    Great to finally see someone with a longer term usage review on Edge. Even better that it's from the UK :) I bought mine last week, mainly for COD on my PC. I love the build and the grip that the pattern provides. The paddles are great and I love the click mechanism. I previously used Sony's back button attachment and KontrolFreeks on a DS4. Only issue I found was that the sticks had ridiculous stick drift that before I updated the software. A minor gripe would be that I would have liked for the L2/R2 buttons to be a little more shallow for a quicker press. Overall, I think it's better than the Elite, as it has removable sticks whilst the Elite doesn't. The Elite also has major issues with faulty buttons and stick drift. Also, their rubber grip had a tendency to start falling off.
    Have you found any issues with stick drift as of yet? I don't think it was mentioned.

    • @iamthegamingnerd
      @iamthegamingnerd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No issues with stick drift myself - no which is why I didn't mention it being a problem. And it's kind of a mute point because you can get replacements? 🤷‍♂️ ... and obviously everything is subjective but I don't actually like super shallow triggers - I have an aim controller that has mouse button triggers and I hate it - I like to FEEL the press to sync with my brain I have done something but, maybe that's just the boomer in me. 😂

    • @Virru112
      @Virru112 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@iamthegamingnerd yes, of course the replacement option is great however I guess it just depends on how long they actually last. That £20 replacement price can then add up very quickly lol. It’s a shame they didn’t use Hall-Effect sticks. Maybe in the future.

    I was so against this controller at first just because of the price, but after having one it is definitely worth it. I like you can change out the joysticks and go buy them as well instead of having to buy a new controller like the regular dual sense. It feels better in the hand for me. Those back paddles are cool and I have set mine based of what game I would be playing. Now the battery does go quick, at least imo, but not a problem. Being able to adjust the triggers is another plus for me. Playing FPS has gotten easier for me and playing all other games I set triggers accordingly. Hi there, I have just last week bought a ps5 slim and I like the default controller, in fact I've never had stick drift on any pad, my original ps4 pad still works fine so I just can't justify the price for the pro controller unless I see one cheap on Vinted or something. Trigger locks are ok, and kind of wish the face buttons were a bit clickier, but all in all it's a good controller for multiplayer fps & single player. For warzone/apex/fortnite I use a 4 paddle extremerate, those extra 2 paddles once you get over the learning curb become hard to live without.

But for pubs in cod I found it's actually a lot better having 2 paddles than 4. With 4 I have a tendency to play with my weapon swap too much and reload at stupid times, with the edge I do a lot less of that for sure. Let’s be real, The Xbox elite series 1/2 are the BEST “pro” model controllers, from the Control & the carrying case as well as accessories & battery life. I’ve had both Series 1 & 2 and have had ZERO issues with them besides my hand sweat causing the rubber gripping from the series one to loosen & peel off after 4 years. I also love having 4 paddles instead of 2 & the ability to tune each thumpstick to my liking. I do own a PS5 and the edge as well and love how it’s still feels like the original dualsense with all the 1st party features it has but having to always charge it so often, the noise the triggers make after a while as well as only having 2 paddles are some of the negatives but the positives out weigh those few negatives, as well as costing around $25 more than Xbox’s.

    Battery life makes perfect sense with these controllers: they have MOTORS for vibration AND triggers(requires tons of power,) and constantly changing and constant ON lights.
    Hold: up, right, and square to turn off some of the lights. Then, you can take apart the controller, unplug the mic so you don't have to have the mute light on. THEN, turn off all the vibration or set to low, and turn the lights to "dim" in the settings. Yep, its that easy😂. Dam stuff they make just to try and force people to buy charging stations and 979 controllers. Anyway, thx for review. :)

I can see and completely agree with the pros you specified, it's a fantastic piece of kit, with a massive pro regarding its modularity. Can't get past the trigger stops though, I've never experienced the issue you spoke of with mine, could that damage the hardware over time?

      Bro I’ve had 2 duelsense in 6 months with stick drift issues. First was original model and second was the apparently updated version that ‘fixed problem’ so ya. I’m getting a lil annoyed at having to constantly send controllers back to Sony so there is no way I’m spending this kind of money on a edge version that use exactly same analog sticks.

    For me each regular sense controller last 7 months. So math for controllers would be
    Edge sense=20x+200
    Regular sense=70x
    The x is how many times you replace the controller or removable joystick, which will be replaced every 7 months. When they overlap in cost, multiply x by 7 and you'll have the time until the prices level out.

    • @iamthegamingnerd
      @iamthegamingnerd  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All contextual really, as everyone's controllers can be used more or less per day and their components could go sooner or later. But the dualsense edge doesn't just allow you to swap stick modules it has all other advantages with the pricing.

      Yes as long as the game your playing has the ability to use a controller. You push and hold the PS Button and Share button and it will go into pairing mode. The only issue is that you can only pair it to one device at a time. I’ve played COD through remote play on my IPad Pro 12.9 M2. It’s a bit small but I’m not great anyway. Once paired you can go into iPadOS settings/general/controller and change settings which is more for dual sense controllers since Edge already has that functionality.
