Prob the Dualsense Edge Controller cuz it’s more useful to games like Returnal, Rocket League and etc. oh btw spawnpoint do u play rocket league or FIFA 23?
As I only feel the need to use a Pro controller exclusively for CoD, and always use a regular DualSense for single player games - the SCUF gets my vote without a doubt. Those mouse click triggers are unmatched. Anyone who disagrees straight up hasn’t used them before. The amount of travel in the Edge’s triggers is a lot more than I was expecting, even on the lowest setting. The Edge isn’t bad by any means and has some awesome features, but the SCUF is the easy winner for CoD.
Cap!!! I have dbrand original ps5 black plates myself and yea it would be nice to have a matching edge controller but I definitely ain’t letting the color stop me from getting a better controller!!! I just haven’t ordered the edge yet but I will very soon. In fact I’m gonna try to order it right now.
The software integration on Edge sells it for me. I only recently got a custom spec'd Battle Beaver so the Edge will have to wait for a bit until the budget recovers. Hopefully by then Sony will have a 4 back button version available, since I'm never going back to the claw grip. Being able to map face buttons to the back is such a massive QoL improvement, ESP. for the Souls games.
How you liking the BB? I have a scuf rn and love it, except the 2 inside paddles are just too annoying to reach most of the time. Thinking about dropping the 300 on a beaver for the buttons but also seen some say the buttons are a bit weak
@Skyblu ive had bbc since ps4 and its lasted many years taking all the abuse. However, my ps5 bbc, the left joy stick is already dead, and I've only had it for about 2 years
I have both. I do think the Edge is the better buy, even if it doesn’t currently work properly on PC. The Scuf just shoots up in price far too quickly. I also prefer Sony’s sticks to the Scuf’s, but that’s all personal preference. I think the Scuf has the far better face buttons but both skimped on the Dpad and could have done a truly separated pad. All in all the cost savings & warranty lean it heavily towards the Edge. Both are quality products. Edit: for anyone who sees this in future, my Scuf broke today. R3 button broke despite me being very careful with it.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but when I got my PS4 scuff yrs back , the sticks felt a little to loose for me compared to how they are on the Official PS controllers which I prefer. I don’t think this is talked about enough. It threw my aim off a lot
Main reason why scuf ps5 is more expensive is bc not much competition. I wouldn’t be surprised if they drop the ps5 scuf price due to the edge being in market now. Same way with the Xbox controllers, scuf reduced the Xbox controller prices to better compete with the elite when it launched. But imo I have used and owned every single pro controller out there and I have to say the scuf is the best imo. They all have their pros and cons. Don’t be fooled with the swappable stick modules on the edge, Astro c40 had a similar design but their sticks failed way more than a stock controller
$$$ way too much for a controller no better than the stock controller and an insult to our intelligence. What are they selling us this stock garbage if something superior exist!
The swappable stick module is a MASSIVE selling point for the Edge. It essentially guarantees a certain amount of life for the thing. For me, the bumper has only gone once on me in previous Sony controllers. I played a ton of Trials Fusion on PS4 and it'd destroy the triggers. Reliability in those two areas is where I'd look.
Its a massive cashgrab .Instead of using Hall sensors they left in an easily breakable part and want u to buy one for 60 bucks while Xbox support gives you a new controller if you experience stickdrift while inside the warranty window . To swap 2 Sticks on the edge you get a complete new Series X Elite 2 Controller for the same Price so really no reason to celebrate this feature. The only reason i like it because i wanna see 3rd Party Hall sensor stick replacements and then this edge controller is gonna last you forever ,
@@SCYN0 60? They are 20 each. Also, Gulikit is apparently working on Hall ones for the Edge but I expect Sony to clamp down on that. Regardless, championing the Elite is a bit daft considering the mountains of complaints and issues they have. Can't really see how the Elite matches up to this if I'm being completely honest. They need to work on their reliability big time; Sony have figured out a great solution, again, at 20 each. Not 60.
I bit the bullet and splashed out on an Edge controller. It feels very comfortable and the extra customisation is nice. But the most important upgrade by far is the removable stick modules. Should they have included at least 1 stick in the case that you get? Yes I think they should have to justify the higher price they're asking for.
@@worstcasescenario3689the elite is slightly better than the Edge but the Edge is definitely a must have for PS5 gamers. I play on series X and PS5 and love both controllers. The Elite is slightly better in most categories. The Edge wins in the replaceable Stick Modules and the snap in clip that goes around the USB so the metal interior of the charge port never gets loose. The battery life on the Edge is god awful compared to the Elite. My elite will get 40+ hours of gaming on a charge and the edge gets about 6 hours tops.
@@cun7usagreed the battery life sucks but if you are gaming on PS5 it’s a must have controller. Their base controller only last like 8 hours. The edge does have a piece that keeps your usb plugged in and sturdy so you can game with it plugged in and not worry about the charge port getting loosened.
The Edge is so nice! The build quality is unmatched. Feels so premium in your hand. I have the Razer Wolverine V2 as well and it feels like cheap plastic.
as someone who had to get a new controller in the first year because of stick drift / phantom presses the replaceable modules are a game changer, even if it was the more expensive option i'd still get that.. would suck getting a 200$ controller and then suffering from stick drift right after warranty wears off..
I think the edge wins easily due to build quality and software integration. I have the scuff and I was shocked at how light it was with out the vibration modules even tho I knew what I was asking for.
@@goldenchildtheater yes. Like fragile and because of that I’m glad I have the dual sense edge and Victrix as backups. I’ll still use the scuff but it won’t get the hours that the others get tho!
@@MzGamr90 my scuf reflex fps stopped charging after 5 months. I sent it in, and they ended up sending me a brand new controller. But the weird thing was, it took a month, and they didn’t even tell me they were just replacing it, they made it seem like it was fixed. But my controller had no rumbles and they sent it back with rumbles 😂 my guess is so they can try to say my warranty is done, but in my eyes, I should get a new 6 month warranty since it’s a new controller, no? It seemed a little shady to me
@@goldenchildtheater that is shady as hell and not being thorough and detailed either . I’ll keep a lookout for any issues with mine until my warranty is up. I’m just glad we have a first party option because honestly is well overdue!
Had the edge since release. I love it. Better grip. Can customize it. Can make the stick sensitivity and dead zones custom. And the back buttons are great. In elden ring i use the left back battle to lock on enemys and back right paddle to roll
Hi I’m new to the PS5, so pls don’t mind this stupid question but if you change the deadzone of the sticks, does the movement of the sticks also get reduced physically?
@LikWiDjay Awh okay that’s too bad. Bc I feel like my aim in shooters is so trash now, bc of how hyper flexible the sticks of the DualSense 5 are, or myb I’m just too used to my less responsive DualShock 4 sticks lol. But do you feel like the overall stick layout of the edge is a lil more "tighter" or just the same like the regular DualSense 5? Thanks so much for your reply!!
@@MUFCxJordan i did have to replace the right thumbstick once for stick drift after a bit but thats it. I dont think it should of went out that quick but it did. But all i did was buy one from game stop. Put the old one in the box and return it😂. But i definitely think it should of lasted a little longer. The left one is fine. But i look at it like this, atleast i didnt need to change the whole controller ya kno
THIS IS THE VIDEO I WAS LOOKING FOR, Ive been rocking the SCUF Reflex for about a year now, debating on getting a Dualsense Edge, but i wanted to know how they compare, the triggers arent a big deal to me because I just switch to a regular controller when I ever wanna play another game, one great thing ill point out about the Dualsense Edge, is the removable joy sticks, I cant wait for Gulikit to make hall-effect joysticks for this controller like they did the Switch, but as always man what a great video
Definitely the edge controller is the Best purchase you can make in my opinion. How long have we been dealing with stick drift on our controllers? Being able to finally do something about it for a little money is priceless.
If only the battery was removable and replaceable. As it is, the smaller battery will have a shorter life span and you’ll have to end up buying a new controller or using it wired
I’ve had a custom DuelSense from AIM Controllers for a little over a year now. All black, mouse-click triggers, paddles, rubber grip. It was significantly more expensive than the Edge at the time ordered. But now that the Edge is here, it has become my primary controller for all games. The short trigger pull is slightly longer than customs, yes, but the functionality + versatility is just unmatched.
@@SCYN0 It’s not a be-all-end-all. Competitive FPS players would probably still prefer a shorter trigger pull. However, the quality, functionality, and overall ease of the use with the Edge is unmatched by another PS controller, yes.
I’ve got aim controller as well with all bells and whistles cost me over €400. And it’s absolutely amazing in every area bar one, reliability!! I’ve not had it a year and it’s had to be sent back twice already for repairs. It’s now broke again which now I’m requesting a full refund. It’s a real shame because I absolutely love the controller itself. But over €400 for a controller you cannot get 3 months worth of gaming from before it breaks is definitely not worth it. Looking to get something along the same lines as the aim controller though and to be honest I can’t make my mind up between these 2 in the video. Which one would you choose?
Thank you for this video. I've been waiting for these 2 controllers to be compared. I like the look of both these controllers but I can only afford to get one. I had the Scuf Vantage 2 for the PS4 and never had a problem and really liked the feel of the Scuf. The changeable sticks on the Dualsense is what keeps me from getting the Scuf and getting the dualSense.
I’ve always liked Scuf’s controllers, the customization is very extensive! But I just can’t justify the price for looks and aesthetics. The DualSense Edge is far more ergonomic and feels substantially better designed. The Scuf is very light and flimsy feeling, sadly.
I have a scuff and I feel the need to mention that after just few months, my inputs have started to stick or just not work at all in increasing increments. For example, in elden ring my sprint/dodge (circle) will just act like its pressed when it's not, or jump (X) or when used to select things on a menu will just simply not work at all for a time.
My reflex seems to be developing that problem as well. I was playing Warzone yesterday and my gun would just reload after shooting 1 bullet. It did that several times and then I repeatedly pressed the square button and the respective paddle on the back a few times pretty hard and it fixed itself. But I worry it’s going to get worse overtime. Also, my up directional button is so hard to initiate, at least harder than it should be. It’s like the whole directional pad is shifted downward so you can press the down button just fine and lightly, but the dpad has to be pushed hard to activate the up button. I will probably be buying an edge once the Scuf wears out in a few months.
Not sure why people still buy Scuf garbage. Years ago I went through two controllers in the matter of 3 months because the back buttons where the paddles were stopped working. Astro C40 was a really good controller but it doesn’t work with the PS5 unless you have an adapter or something. 1st party over 3rd party always!
Had the same problem. Emailed scuf and send the controller back. Got a new one and havent had any problems with this one. Most of the comments i read still have warrenty on the controller, so use it
@@kyle8270 Astro C40 works on PS5, but only on PS4 games (and no PS5 upgraded version). So I can play the PS4 version of Destiny using my C40, but once I upgraded to the PS5 version, no more C40. Luckily it still works on my PS4 in the spare room. (reminds me, I need to grab 1 more spare stick for the C40 before Astro or BattleBeaver stop making them). It's a shame Astro decided not to continue in the Controller market - I heard almost nothing bad about the C40 aside from scarcity after the initial launch.
The edge is far and away the better option due to the integration with the hardware. I started using mine last week and is it as rock solid as the SCUF? No. But being able to easily change settings, profiles, tune all without having to leave the console is a huge.
PS5 Pro controller 💙 It's cool to see Sony knock is out of the park 1st time around. Well thought out product. And the travel distance can be made even shorter via software, making it instantaneous aswell.
@@cun7usI’m confused as to what “more” do you want. You get back paddles, trigger stops, extensive internal controller customization, swappable stick modules for no stick drift and so much more. Also casual gamers are not looking for this controller most competitive players want this. Competitive players want as little delay as possible. Never met someone using this not wired or little delay
Exactly what I was feeling. I’m not dedicated fps and I’m loving the edge through and through. In my case I’m gaming on a monitor so the battery is an acceptable sacrifice for everything else. Great reviews and comparison!
Just got the Dualsense edge yesterday. So far it a nice controller part of me. I feel a bit wasteful paying $230 w tax. But since I noticed a bit of lag on the right stick of my Dualsense flat, I said to myself, "Let me invest in this in case I need to swap of the sticks." I'll say the controller is fantastic worth the money for what you get.
I’d like to add that the scuf doesn’t come with the carrying case. You need to buy the carrying case separately or buy an entire kit (gamer grip, carrying case, and charger, and extra sticks) that they sell for 30 when you buy the controller
I’ve had an elite Xbox controller for a long time. I actually have 3 of them. They are absolutely amazing. When playing shooters on PS5, it obviously wasn’t nearly as good as on my series X. I had a longer joystick on my right stick, shortened my triggers and obviously the paddles mad it an even bigger game changer with games like Apex Legends and Destiny 2. I was super close to buying a scuf for my ps5 when I realized they were coming out with the Edge. I knew the scuf wouldn’t be nearly as good. Once I saw you had to pick one style trigger with the scuf, it was a big no for me. I’m perfectly fine with only 2 paddles because I only use 2 paddles on my Xbox elite. Both the Elite and the Edge have almost identical customization. One thing you forgot to mention about the Edge is how it has the piece that clips around your usb so if you are playing with it plugged in, your metal charge port with never get weak. The piece clips around the usb and then clips into the controller making it super sturdy. My biggest complaint about the Edge is the awful battery life. You don’t get 8 hours out of it. It’s closer to 6 hours of constant gaming. My Elite Xbox controller gets like 40 hours on one charge. I don’t know why Sony can never get that part right. Xbox is way better when it comes to charge life and then options on the regular controllers. If you play Xbox or PS and don’t have an Elite or Edge, you definitely need one!! They are both amazing controllers.
i have had ps5 since launch. i have had 2 dual sense controller have stick drift. i got the edge the second it dropped and i love it so far. being able to change stick modules will pay for itself.
Biggest reason to buy it for me. Every controller I had break on me was because of the stick. Scufs are expensive and have equally fragile sticks. Not worth the money at all. The Edge however fixes that problem
Crazy ppl are getting stick drift. I have 4 controllers. One scuf fps. No problems with any controllers. You guys must be raging and throwing the controller on the ground. Or eating Doritos while games. Sticky ass buttons and shit lol
The Scuf not having button icons is not for copyright reasons. I bought one back in the day, it used to be an up charge to get faceless buttons. If someone is buying a $200 controller, they’re probably familiar with the button layout.
Once you realize that any of the customizable controllers are going to run you $160+ - and no replaceable stick modules once you get stick drift - the Edge doesn't look so bad from a cost perspective.
I have used scuffs in the past but I prefer the PS5 edge, it's a really nice Pro controller for someone who plays other games in addition to shooters alone.
So question do you play first person shootin games alot With the edge ? also have you experienced anything wrong with it yet idk which to buy bc im used to buying scuffs and they always worked so well for me
I can’t wait for Astro to release their PS5 pro-controller, the Astro C40 for PS4 was a proper masterclass controller and the only one big enough for my hands to comfortably hold
@@matthewcoyle4569 True, but the DS doesn't have back paddle/buttons, any way to shorten the trigger response, or fix Stick Drift. I'm not keen on spending $70 (or more) every year on a new controller for only one - although major - issue.
Bought a custom kit to add 4 extra buttons to the back of a stock Ps5 controller. Costs €40 and if you can solder it's a cheaper alternative. Not as many features but gets the job done
Duelsense edge is easier to repair in my opinion. Can replace the entire module thingy for the stick if necessary. I've had a few scuf remotes with the instant triggers. They are amazing for fps especially when using single fire weapons. Only problem is they tend to break easily. They only last me about 3 months before I need to send them for repair. Just from pressing them too hard? Or may e using them daily? Not sure. For now the duel sense edge is my pick but I haven't had it very long so this may change.
The SCUF controllers are just modded DualSense controllers. Rip one open and there will be a Sony PCB inside. IMO you should either go with the DualSense Edge which is designed from the ground up to be a Pro controller (and lets you easily replace the quickest wear parts on the controller, the stick caps and the stick modules themselves) or DIY one yourself with parts for brands like ExtremeRate. It works out cheaper and you can fix stuff like the instant triggers yourself when they break. Hex Gaming's controllers use Extremerate parts. I'm also heavily against giving SCUF and Corsair (who owns SCUF) any money since the whole reason rear paddles on controllers aren't standard is because they managed to get a patent on buttons on the back of a controller and charge companies to add them. Despite the fact that prior art exists (and Valve proved this in court).
@@cityoftrees9953 I had a guy in my old clan who was replacing his PS4 controller every 3-4months. Then again, because he was retired & living in the middle of no-where, he played like 10-16 hrs daily.
I like the fact you can replace the analogue sticks for the edge, it’s a shame you can’t swap out the dpad and the shape buttons… If it’s like The controller for PS4 there is the possibility of the rubber under the buttons wearing with time and causing button presses to be annoyingly loud
@@igloo2158you can do it yourself for like 20 bucks and an hour of your time. Extremerate has a kit that replaces the dpad and face buttons with clicky buttons. You can also replace the whole buttons themselves for metal ones or different colored ones
I advise everyone to wait for the max my Scuf promo that comes out once every year, it’s a cost of £200 to have everything modded and an extra £20 for the case, extra paddles and analogs 🙌
Honestly all i care for these controllers is how well are they when it comes to wear and tear. Id had 4 controller now with stick drift. Durability is my number 1 priority
It'll be interesting to see if the Edge sticks are any more durable than the other customizable controllers (or even OG DS). The amount of sticks I had to replace on my Astro C40 for PS4 made me hesitant to drop $$ for SCUF, Evil, or BattleBeaver; and a lot less hesitant to chance Sony's Edge. To be safe, I bought a replacement stick w/ my order, & I'll be grabbing another 1 or 2. Would be my luck that in 6-12 mths when Drift happens, I can't get more sticks. Or Gods forbid, Sony discontinues the Edge completely & the only issue is Drift.
@@VAwitch, Bro I've literally been through 20 sets of C40 sticks. I have to at my house. I just kept swapping them out at best buy and buying their extended warranty. After Covid they stopped making them and now I'm stuck with 2 that are about done. Super hesitant to pay $380 for an Evil controller not knowing when the drift will happen. 6 months? 6 weeks? And then what. Plus I play on PC so it looks like the Edge isn't an option for me.
5:00 I don't like the thumb sticks that pull off easy to change. I've had plenty of sessions where I pushed too hard and the thumb sticks fell off. I much rather have to remove some cover to access them.
I have the scuf and absolutely love it. Used to have the Scuf Vantage 2 and only used two paddles, but with the Scuf Pro using four paddles is incredibly comfortable. Unfortunately, I'm a little disappointed that Scuf didn't provide an option for adjustable triggers. I have instant triggers and strictly use it for FPS games, which I feel sort of limited. As a consumer I'll probably purchase the Edge, but definitely not a necessity if you have a scuf already.
If you have the instant triggers on the scuf reflex, get ready cause they're gonna break. Those things are low quality garbage. I had mine repaired twice in 4 months and they still broke again in 2 weeks.
How is the durability of the scuf? I used to have two back on ps4 during Black ops 3 and 4 and thought that after a year or so both controllers really died off. Problems with paddles breaking easily/paddle buttons not working. Plus the usual stick drift etc! But has that improved at all with the new models?
I think something to note that I haven't seen talked about is how fast the Edge charges. It's like 10-15 mins for a full charge. So kinda makes up for the battery being dick imo.
@@toorz7839 You do know that Playstation controllers have less input lag when wireless, right? If i recall correctly, its like 2ms wireless and 8 wired. The only way wired beats wirelss is if you overclock it, which can only be done on pc. Either way, I dislike people who swear they can see the difference between 6ms of lag. The fact you think wired is faster proves you cant.
I view it as: Oh - time to charge the Edge? Sounds like a good time to get off my a** to refill my drink & grab a bite to eat. Or even Adult for a few minutes to handle a quick task. 5-6 hrs on a charge is plenty of time to have sat in one spot minus any bio-breaks.
Finally a video that helped me decide. On every scuf review, the stick drift is mentioned more or less but it always is, and people complain that scuf customer service sucks and repairs take months. Since I almost only play FPS games and I am not a pro player, I just want to place the slide and jump button on the back buttons so I probably dont need more than 2 buttons for COD anyway. Also the fact that on Edge you can replace whole stick modules solves future stick drift issues if they occur.
I love both, just wish that the PS5 Edge had 4 back buttons. Now if scuf had the whole texture and feel of the Edge it would be Unstoppable, especially if they had the edge version of the changeable thumbsticks. I found it easier to change the edge thumb sticks rather than the scuf.
@@COOCHIEMANE28 to be honest with you 100% agree, the only thing I don't like is that the triggers are so dang sensitive and there's little to no resistance.
The software integration is the key component. Being able to full customize button layout on the fly is just so good. I hated having to go back to my PC to make minor or major changes with my Nacon Revolution Pro.
You could always do that within the controller settings on the Console, they are not exclusive to the Edge. The analog and trigger dead zones are what's exclusive.
@@dizzleslaunsen2372 Yeah I know. You can reassigne all the buttons on a Scuf, Nacon, or any PS5 controller within the consoles built in controller settings. You don't need a PC for it.
As someone who has never been hype over the elite controller concept. Because it's not usually worth the money for extra buttons. Personally the Dual Sense Edge is a great choice as long as you don't mind charging the controller every 4 hours to take a break. The vibration feels better, the controller is slightly larger so it feels better for shooting games. Being able to map the additional buttons is something I didnt know I needed. A game like Battlefield, Call of Duty and Horizon Forbidden West can really utilize this game. Quicker access to certain mechanics is great. I also feel that any time my controller dies and I return to the base Dual Shock it feels so much cheaper and the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback doesn't feel as good, but that could just be a placebo affect. If you are tired of replacing your PS5 controller every 6 months cause of drift, I say buy it.
I have both. My R2 on my scuf started sticking after 5 months. I was thankful that they took it back under warranty and fixed it and shipped it back, but now im hesitant to use it. Ive been using the Edge since I got it last week and it feels better for non FPS games like you said. A game like rocket league for example, I think the holding down of the R2 on the scuf controller with the reflex button may have been a problem. Anyways, TL;DR Edge is better overall, Scuf still best for just cod/FPS shooter
my older scuf done the same after RL i switched to a normal controller on Rl when i got a new scuf. ive had a scuf ps pro for 2 years and still works good. i think there just better for fps and shooters rather than for casual play but for competitive id def go with scuf again
I've been loving my Edge. The ability to just change out the stick module in case of drift was a big selling point for me. I don't need 4 paddles and the price of Scuf once you start adding things can get expensive, now add the possibility of getting drift and it makes a purchase like that much harder. DualSense Edge all the way.
Scuf does not come with carrying case or swappable stick package like you had here. Those are extras you can buy. There are couple of extra sticks in the controller package though but not in an extra stick package shown in this video. Just a reminder for people that you may be disappointed if you want a carrying case. It is not included.
Ooofffff, big hit of nostalgia with that 007 shot ☺️ man loved goldeneye back in the day Tripmines underneath steps sending folk all over the show Definitely considering the Edge like Great video dude
Thank you very much! I've been trying to decide which controller I wanted to get, I had a feeling the Edge would be the better choice proce wise. I've got a bunch of friends always telling me the scuf though. Personally I'd rather get controllers made by Sony themselves, and after watching this video explaining all the Edge's features I'm more than like going with the DualSence Edge. Thanks again!
I ordered an edge two days ago. While it is expensive, the software and ability to switch out entire stick modules in the event of stick drift makes it worth it for me. I already had to replace a ps5 controller in under a year for stick drift. Weaker battery life is a non issue for me, especially with the super long usb charging cable included. I also have a backup dual sense for multiplayer, but I also use it as a backup when the battery dies on my primary controller.
I’m very happy with the way you describe the features. It leaves space to form an own opinion. I fully agree with the features for example however it makes me come to the opposite conclusion that the SCUF is better in weight, looks (modded), and stuff. Nice work!
Nice fair comparison of the PS5 PRO 💜 controllers. I personally feel the DualSense Edge controller is a better than the SCUF although like I said on your previous video it's way too expensive.
For people that own the sony inzone H7/H9. Set the slider of the dongle to PC. Now you can adjust the volume/chatmix and mute from the edge controller.
It's awfully convenient that the ps5 controller has a common enough case of drifting and they just decided to launch a controller that costs twice as much to address that. And not only that but with software that let's you tweak deadzones which would help negating drift in the base controller. Almost seems intentional. 🤔
@@redcenturion88 one thing no one is mentioning is that it takes like 15mins to fully charge the edge controller, if you can't spare that amount of time to charge but can spare 6hours to play then something is wrong lol
I find the trigger stops to be spongy and the shorter the setting, the more trigger delay I experience. I also found the buttons to be more spongy as the basic stock controllers as well.
Thank you, that's what I needed to know. I don't understand why Sony can't make an instant click version for serious FPS gamers. I'm gonna get a Scuf, I need paddles and those triggers.....yes.
When the all black Duel Sense Edge comes out, I will buy it. I’ll hold off for now. I want a controller to match with my black plates. When the official one drops, I’m in 🔥
I own both and the Edge is far superior. You are wrong about being able to map ANY button on the Scuff. You CAN NOT map the L2 or R2 buttons to any of the bottom paddles. However you CAN map R2/L2 to the back buttons on the PS5 controller. (If you play shooters, you need to try R2 mapped to a back paddle/button, it will change your game and save your hands.) The Scuff in general just feels extremely cheap, and for that kind of money, it shouldn't. Don't waste your money, just buy the PS5 controller.
I bought a edge a couple weeks ago and don’t regret it one bit I got the older vantage scuf controller it first hold a candle to my edge controller I just can’t not wait for someone to make Hal effect joystick modules for the edge then it’ll be a end game controller
Having used both I will say this is a spot on review. Worth also saying that scuf as a company is terrible and sony are much more likely to replace a defective product. If you buy a scuf at £200 it isn't really anything more than a controller with paddles. Saying they are the same price is defo not accurate. It would have been nice for you to compare prices of one as closely matched to the edge as possible. In that case sony wins hands down (by around £100)
I have a hex elite 2. Served me good for last year and half. It currently having a prob with left joy stick where it will randomly move up. I just ordered my edge yesterday. Seems way better than other modded ones.
I really like the scuf but if I were to choose what’s better then the dual sense edge is better because if you have stick drift, you don’t have to buy another controller but instead you can just buy a new stick replacement
I once played with controllers and felt I was spending more on these devices for repair after drifting began. Scuf usually tends to last no more than 5 months then you begin to have drift issues and end paying out of pocket because of limited warranty on scuf! Just my take.
Hence why I didn't regret my Astro C40; & hopefully won't regret the Edge (same price as Astro was 5 yr ago) - replace the modules, keep on gaming. Even if both sticks go bad, $40/yr vs $65+ for a new DualSense...
Considering how on the edge triggers you can literally set it to have almost no dead zone at all, The scuff instant triggers don’t make much of a difference if at all in my experience. I know I’m late but very nice review.
I’ve had the reflex pro from scuf for 6 months. 3 months in and the R2 button stopped clicking (mouse click triggers) took 3 weeks to repair under warranty. 2 months later and it stopped again. I primarily play destiny 2 and apex legends. So I’m using that button a lot but the mouse clicks are designed for shooters so that really shouldn’t be happening. Buying the edge today I’m done with scuf. Not even bothering with the repair this time since it’s out of warranty and they want 50 for the repair
I also had the C40 - the replaceable stick module for the Edge (and having 2 back buttons, same as Astro) is what sealed the deal. My C40 is still going strong, almost 5 years later - the only problem I've had is stick drift. I think I've gone through 4 replacements in daily multi-hour FPS play, for 4 years. (sticks last about 7-8 months before they get moved over to the other side; the rotation keeps the # of sticks bought down LOL) I will be interested in the magnetic module that is coming out from an after-market maker, that made some for the Switch. I think it'll be more than $20; but if it means 1 time purchase, or lasts well over a year w/o issue - it'll be worth it.
It seems a bit weird to say this but, why are we using the trigger to shoot in fps games?? The bumpers are right there! Instant activation with the benefit of kipping the analog triggers free to when needed
Also on the note that you can swap the sticks from left to right when one does get drift. sometimes this might fix the issue or make it less of a issue by moving the drifting side to have a lesser effect on you as ypu can have it drift on your aim or drift on your movement..at least till you replace it. Which means you don’t have to worry about buying left or right the replacement fits both and auto maps itself
For people who have had many pro controllers. What controller has the most durable sticks. I have constant problems with stick getting unplayable stick drift because I’m heavy handed. On top of that if you change the sticks on your edge with current stick drift will the drift go away once you replace them?
Bought a scuff less than a year ago, had to get my left paddle and my right thumb stick repaired because of stick drift, that was about two months ago and now after spending 115$ to get it fixed my right stick is broken again. The removable sticks on the edge might be the decision maker for me
Duelsense is a winner. Backed by Sony, replicable joystick if they go bad (not replacing the whole controller), easier access to add profile and adjust as needed and all in one place (within PS5). That’s a winner to me.
You've got $200-$250 to spend. Which are you buying after watching this?
Prob the Dualsense Edge Controller cuz it’s more useful to games like Returnal, Rocket League and etc. oh btw spawnpoint do u play rocket league or FIFA 23?
I have the dualsense edge and it’s awesome!
Personally I'm gonna hold off to see if they do a dual sense edge version 2. Cuz I feel like there's a few minor tweaks that they can improve on
As I only feel the need to use a Pro controller exclusively for CoD, and always use a regular DualSense for single player games - the SCUF gets my vote without a doubt.
Edge
I’d have bought the Edge already if it had a all-black color option
True
Supposedly they do have one on the way
same #Blackout
Cap!!! I have dbrand original ps5 black plates myself and yea it would be nice to have a matching edge controller but I definitely ain’t letting the color stop me from getting a better controller!!! I just haven’t ordered the edge yet but I will very soon. In fact I’m gonna try to order it right now.
You shouldn't be not buying stuff just because they don't look like they way you want it to.
Theyre so good for elden ring! Using my back button for circle as a dedicated sprint and the actualy circle face button as a dedicated dodge
I have both a ps5 Battle beaver and a dual sense edge, and hands down the dual sense edge is way better.
However, my ps5 bbc, the left joy stick is already dead, and I've only had it for about 2 years
battle beaver sucks mines broke randomly although lasted quite a while got a edge would say it’s 20x better
I agree!
@@brentmichael4770 you don’t have to buy it. No one is forcing you, just close the tab and get on with your day respectfully 🫡

Just to change a buttons color is 30 nzd which is 15usd
100% same scuff is garbage

You can make the Edge controller respond just like the Scuf- just set it to full 100% just as the trigger is pressed.
Exactly what I was feeling. I’m not dedicated fps and I’m loving the edge through and through. In my case I’m gaming on a monitor so the battery is an acceptable sacrifice for everything else. Great reviews and comparison!

I want the Dualsense Edge so much
I’ve had an elite Xbox controller for a long time.

The Scuf not having button icons is not for copyright reasons. I bought one back in the day, it used to be an up charge to get faceless buttons. If someone is buying a $200 controller, they’re probably familiar with the button layout.

Since I almost only play FPS games and I am not a pro player, I just want to place the slide and jump button on the back buttons so I probably dont need more than 2 buttons for COD anyway. Also the fact that on Edge you can replace whole stick modules solves future stick drift issues if they occur.
But the stick modules is out of stock for like few month.
VICTRIX BFG IS THE BEST AND CHEAPER
@@COOCHIEMANE28 to be honest with you 100% agree, the only thing I don't like is that the triggers are so dang sensitive and there's little to no resistance.
no trigger stops?
@@IAmJRMaxwell
1:15 well you can keep the buttons with the X∆⭕🔳 you just can't get black or other color buttons.
I would buy edge controller any day it has so many customisation
You can get the same trigger response if you simply switch your button controls from R2/L2->R1/L1. The only difference is the extra buttons
no sir its not the same lol tf
a mouse click is way faster
lmao no sh*t it’s a mouse not a controller, but you have a point. It’s a whole lot cheaper than $200 as well🫠🤣
Soon, Gulikit will most likely make Hall Effect sticks for DualsSense Edge and that would be a big improvement!
@@r.o.o.k.I think he’s saying compared to the scuff….you have to re map on a computer for scuff.
The drift is why I dropped the $$. Drift was the only issue I had for 4+ yrs on my Astro C40 - and the stick mods were same price as the Edge ($20).
Dual sense doesn’t have drift. DualShock does.
Anyways,
TL;DR Edge is better overall, Scuf still best for just cod/FPS shooter
my older scuf done the same after RL i switched to a normal controller on Rl when i got a new scuf. ive had a scuf ps pro for 2 years and still works good. i think there just better for fps and shooters rather than for casual play but for competitive id def go with scuf again
Haven't tried the SCUF, but I took the plunge and got the Edge. I absolutely love it, personally.
The swapable stick modules also open up for modules with hall effect sensors in the future. Gulikit have already said they're working on it.
Ooofffff, big hit of nostalgia with that 007 shot ☺️ man loved goldeneye back in the day
Tripmines underneath steps sending folk all over the show
Definitely considering the Edge like
Great video dude
Then scuf is way too expensive as well?
@@amorbavian yes both are too expensive for me to even consider buying. Between the two I feel DualSense Edge is the better controller.
And the edge only has 6hr battery life so you have to buy 2 to always have one charging.
@@redcenturion88 oh wow sony knows how to treat people right when it comes to bending them over a table.
@@redcenturion88 one thing no one is mentioning is that it takes like 15mins to fully charge the edge controller, if you can't spare that amount of time to charge but can spare 6hours to play then something is wrong lol
@@ryanshnoztwazzle8605 I didn't know that. I stand corrected
I've got two scufs and both got a stick issues. With Edge you can change it without buying the full controller.
I got 2 ps5 controller both has stick problems I am getting the ps5 pro over the other one I don't want any problems
If people complain about triggers not engaging as fast why not just use the bumpers to shoot?
I find the trigger stops to be spongy and the shorter the setting, the more trigger delay I experience. I also found the buttons to be more spongy as the basic stock controllers as well.
Thank you, that's what I needed to know. I don't understand why Sony can't make an instant click version for serious FPS gamers. I'm gonna get a Scuf, I need paddles and those triggers.....yes.
Just bought the edge. Very happy with it.
Great choice.
When the all black Duel Sense Edge comes out, I will buy it. I’ll hold off for now. I want a controller to match with my black plates. When the official one drops, I’m in 🔥
Thanks for this video, made it really easy for me to decide
I'm so glad that I watched this before purchasing a Scuff controller. Thanks for the video, and thanks to everyone who commented.
Nice review, what is the nice wooden stand you have for the controller?
I have a hex elite 2. Served me good for last year and half. It currently having a prob with left joy stick where it will randomly move up. I just ordered my edge yesterday. Seems way better than other modded ones.
I really like the scuf but if I were to choose what’s better then the dual sense edge is better because if you have stick drift, you don’t have to buy another controller but instead you can just buy a new stick replacement
Where did you get the thing you put the controller on? Definitely thinking about the edge here when I get paid!
All this effort and yet still nobody has thought to make a PS5 controller with asymmetrical analog sticks.
Just picked up my DS edge.
Great vid! I personally dont plan on purchasing any of them yet.
Also a updated house tour series would be dope!
This was a very useful and needed video and thank you so much for it!
Glad I saw this before picking up the scuff. Edge is pretty similar to my astro c40 I was using on PS4 and loved it.
(sticks last about 7-8 months before they get moved over to the other side; the rotation keeps the # of sticks bought down LOL)
I will be interested in the magnetic module that is coming out from an after-market maker, that made some for the Switch. I think it'll be more than $20; but if it means 1 time purchase, or lasts well over a year w/o issue - it'll be worth it.
I bought the edge already and the scuf is coming for Christmas. But I have an old scuf for which I loved.
Oh dang thanks dude I was actually debating on these two
It seems a bit weird to say this but, why are we using the trigger to shoot in fps games??
The bumpers are right there!
Instant activation with the benefit of kipping the analog triggers free to when needed
my mom and dad just talked about what to do for my b-day but i didnt know wich controller to get but this clears it up thanks
One of the best videos I’ve ever seen, thank you for all the info
Also on the note that you can swap the sticks from left to right when one does get drift.
sometimes this might fix the issue or make it less of a issue by moving the drifting side to have a lesser effect on you as ypu can have it drift on your aim or drift on your movement..at least till you replace it.
Which means you don’t have to worry about buying left or right the replacement fits both and auto maps itself
7:35 oh i didn't know about this nice point out
For people who have had many pro controllers. What controller has the most durable sticks. I have constant problems with stick getting unplayable stick drift because I’m heavy handed. On top of that if you change the sticks on your edge with current stick drift will the drift go away once you replace them?
brilliant quality on this video, thank you!
