  • We review the new 2024 Honda CRV Sport Hybrid, one of the best-selling SUVs on the market. While there are unlimited options, we help point out why the CR-V is one of the better choices to test drive. This car competes with the Mazda CX5, CX50, Toyota RAV4, VW Tiguan, Ford Bronco, and Subaru Outback.

I purchased this same trim, coming from owning BMWs for years and sick of the cost of ownership and reliability issues. Yes, this is not a BMW, not even close in terms of the driving dynamics. However, the trade off to me is worth it. Mark nailed it-this just does everything well as a practical vehicle. Super happy with it.

As someone who currently owns a BMW, and is looking at buying a $1500 clutch with the possibility of also needing to buy a $1500 dual-mass flywheel, it's heartening to hear that reliability and practicality can make up for the lack of driving excitement. I'm closer to 40 than I am to 30 now, so the CR-V seems like an intelligent reverse-midlife-crisis vehicle.

I test drove a CR-V Sport L Hybrid a few weeks ago and didn't noticed how dark the interior was until I sat inside. The seats, side posts and ceiling are all black. It made me feel a bit claustrophobic and depressed. You have to get the highest trim, (the Sport Touring), before having the option of a gray interior. At that point, the car is well over $40K. Quiet, fast, easy to park, good mileage (the new ones anyways), good handling, RWD and decent space (far more than decent if you have a wagon). It has everything. I'd suggest a sunday car should be something that is truly fun and probably very impractical: S2000, Hellcat/Horsepower car, old Jeep with no roof, vintage muscle, motorbike, RX7, MGB or something in that vein.

I bought nearly the identical model to the one you guys have, about a month ago. Have 3100 miles on it. My job requires me to drive about a thousand miles a week so I spend an inordinate amount of time driving and I have to say, between the seat and the driver assist features, the miles just melt away. So effortless to drive hundreds of miles a day.
The sport mode can be a legit amount of fun and livens up an otherwise sedate driving experience.
I’ve seen up to 45 MPG and I get about 500 miles to a tank.
Filled up my tank with the gauge cluster telling me I had 5 miles left to go; only put a bit over 12 gallons in it (14 gal tank) so I still had over 60 miles of range. Could push a tank to 550 I think without much issue.
Great vehicle that I will be keeping for the next several years

Wasn’t thrilled hybrid has no spare tire but they said the run flat was good. I’m still shopping but for the price point, this is what I’ll most likely get. I can’t justify buying a more exciting suv for double the price when they’ll both last same amount of time. I tend to drive my cars as long as I can. It is definitely a step up from the 2017. I have only one gripe that i wont let Honda off the hook for. In 2022 they did not include a spare tire when retrofitting the 5th gen Honda to a Hybrid saying they couldn't fit it in because it was the older platform. Now, with a total redesigned 6th generation vehicle they still did not include a spare. LOVE the car, but if Toyota can put a spare tire in a Hybrid, so can you Honda. See ya on the road. 😊

I’ve owned several generations of CRV’s & sometimes the new iteration loses features:
    1. No spare tire (in an SUV?) All the CRVs I have owned had flat tires at some point in time. It was ALWAYS lifesaving to have a spare.
    2. No self folding rear seats- my 2012 CRV can self fold the rear seats at the pull of a handle. This was great!
    3. No fog lights- I have also found this useful in getting less tunnel vision in areas that were dark, with no street lights. It’s useful seeing where the edge of the road is, a safety issue.
    4. No Honda picnic table- It was just so cool to whip that out that made people’s eyes large- a surprise wow factor.
Evolution is not a straight line. Sort of like Microsoft products.
