This is a great video! Short and sweet and to the point.
On my 2007 Murano, I used a 10mm ratching wrench and did not have to move the hose. On a whim, I blew out the connector and the sensor in place and all codes went away. So I never even had to pull the sensor!
I was showing P0345(Camshaft Position Sensor Bank 2), P0725(Engine speed input circuit), P1701(Power supply circuit), P0868 (Transmission fluid low). The last 3 are Nissan OEM codes.
Thanks for saving me time and money!
I will update if any of them come back.😎

Nice. The connectors always suck. Thanks for taking extra time to show exactly how it releases. The nissan is weird and I was surprised at the direction you push the tab.

Good video! Thanks a bunch! Very helpful! I did not even have to remove my engine cover. Once I pulled the hose, it was just right for me. It's been said the cheaper sensors don't last. But I just went and got a used one because it happened that the clip for the wires did not lock as it should. My CE light is off now. Time will tell! UPDATE! Got through emissions and my repair was about 4 days ago! It's all good now! Folks make sure your wire clip locks after you hear the click! At first, mine did not!

  • @cowsongs

OutSTANDING! Very clear, very easy to follow. These jobs are really so easy with some photos or video to just show where the darn parts are and how they come out.
But one important note: Getting that 10mm bolt out is difficult. There is a heavy steel pipe near the head which made it impossible to get a socket on it cleanly, even with a U-joint fitting. You really need a 10mm box wrench to slip in there (I would advise against a simple open-end here because you really want to get that bolt out with no chance of rounding off the edges).

    • @RonnRicco
      @RonnRicco หลายเดือนก่อน

Thanks for the tip. That steel pipe has no reason to be in the way. My next vehicle WILL NOT be a nissan lol

Great video. My problem is with my fiance 07 murano. About same time last year her car shut off while dropping off the kids to school. We got it diagnosed and it was the camshaft sensors we swapped out both and until today no problems. Today same problem occurred but the reading is saying p0345 camshaft sensor bank 2. Yet again we swapped out both bank 1 and 2 the first time.

Use the Hitachi sensors. A lot of people have seen the aftermarket sensors fail in less than a year. Even the Autozone sensors with the lifetime warranty are failing prematurely.

Great video! I did both sensors.
A few tips about what parts to get and tooling.
I have an 2006 Altima SER and the motor is mounted transverse like the Murano. You’ll see parts listed by different positions. Left or Right. A or B. Bank #1 or Bank #2.
For VQ35's mounted transverse (front-wheel drive):
    Rear - Near the firewall. That’s Right/Bank 1/A.
    Front - Closest to the radiator. That’s Left/Bank 2/B
Where does this come from? Imagine sitting in the driver’s seat of a 350Z where the motor is mounted longitudinal for rear-wheel drive. The driver’s side of the motor is the left and the passenger side the right. And with ‘right’ usually favoring left it gets numbered bank #1 or A. Leaving the left to bank #2 or B.
Then when you rotate the motor for front-wheel drive, the left side moves to the front.
My code reader reported ‘P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit’ indicating I needed to replace the rear sensor. Code P0345 would be the sensor in the front.
I recommend the Hitachi sensors. These are OEM and can be had from RockAuto, Amazon, and others. The best price I found was at RockAuto.
    Hitachi CPS0008 - Rear/Right/Bank 1/A
    Hitachi CPS0005 - Front/Left/Bank 2/B
Replacing the front sensor was relatively easy. The rear (at least for me) was difficult getting the connector to come loose. It’s hard to reach by hand. And after depressing the connector with my finger, it didn’t seem to want to release.
I turned to a pair of 11-inch long nose pliers with a 45 deg bend. Firmly pressed the release tab in and then maneuvered the connector off from the top using the same pliers. Once you press the tab fully in, it will remain open - lest you bump it and it locks again.
    Good luck!

If you notice on this car in the video, the other (bank one) camshaft sensor is covered in oil. For some reason, the bank one sensor usually fails first on most Nissan VQ engines. It looks like oil is leaking from both camshaft sensors on my wife's Murano so I will probably buy some new sensors from Rockauto and install them very soon. BTW, the bank one camshaft sensor failed on my 350z but it was not leaking oil. The sensors are much cheaper if you buy them online. The owners on the Nissan online forums recommend the Hitachi sensors (cost: $44/ea plus tax and shipping). I may try the Standard Motor Products sensors since those seem to be very popular and are much cheaper.

Changing these sensors are easy on the Murano so I would never pay a mechanic to replace these. The hardest part is learning how to release the connector correctly. These sensors are really hard to reach on the 350z because they located on the back of the engine, next to the firewall, and there's not much room back there.
