Honestly the best version of Minecraft. I remember playing with my siblings, building on this mc superflat worlds for 3 years before my brother got a new computer. I wish Minecraft would update the legacy edition again, because I think it is just honestly better than bedrock.

This was my method I discovered but with recent changes in my life, I couldn’t make the video. For awhile I felt a burden as if it were necessary after reading all of the comments, but thanks man, now that I know someone already is helping people out I no longer feel like I am required to make a video over it.
@@ItsCatmanjoe I’m working on one where you may not have to delete your worlds but so far, It’s only worked once out of 30ish times that I have tested it. So now its just figuring out what exactly I did for it to work.

Ever since I lost the editions button in 2020 when 1.16 wasn't loading, I thought we needed to buy the game again so I did that and spent 40 on stupid bedrock edition. I didn't even get to use my old PS3 worlds because it is dying because I needed the editions button, I couldn't get it until now, thank you so much!!

Great video. I discovered the same solution early 2020 when I wanted to earn 100% of the trophies. The additional challenge I faced is that I own the digital version of minecraft bedrock on my main account and had never played the old edition. The difference to your solution was that I had to launch the game on a newly created profile, start one of the mini games and then switch to my main profile to join as a 2nd player (a 2nd controller would probably have worked as well). That way I was finally able to earn the missing trophies. It took a lot of trial and error to find and I had bought the game a total of 3 times (digital and both the new and old physical version) until I got it working, but looking back, it made the trophy hunting experience much more memorable.
@@giovanniespino3384 Yes but it has to be the old physical version from before they switched to bedrock. I tried it on the physical bedrock edition and it didn't work on that one

@@ReisDiggerboy1st so what worked for me, was having a second account that doesn't have bedrock digitally purchased, deactivating the one with it and deleting save data from both, booting up the disc version, and profiting. I can actually leave the second activated, but activating the main one with bedrock ahain breaks it
its sad how you have to go and do all these tedious steps to go back to Legacy edition. For someone trying to get 100% trophies for Minecraft it simply is not possible since some of the trophies are "Editions Only". Also the nostalgia factor is such a big part of og Minecraft. I got Minecraft Java edition back in 2014 and on console in 2016 and i would love to just relive those days with the original UI etc.

Deactived my primary PS4 on every single account and deleted Minecraft save data on every single account. Returned to my account and loaded up Minecraft and lo and behold, my button returned. I then copied my Minecraft save data back onto my account and reactivated my primary PS4 on main account that I play Minecraft on. I am extremely ecstatic that I finally found a method that worked :) Also something that I found to be true in this video; if you reactive your primary PS4 on any other accounts than then one you play Minecraft on, it will cause the button to disappear on your main account and you'll then have to repeat the steps again.
I know this sounds very complicated, but do you think we could rip a legacy edition disc for ps3/ps4? I also know that on ps5 (idk about ps4) when you delete minecraft and download it again, it installs it in 2 steps. First the first version (which is legacy), then the bedrock edition. You can cancel the download for bedrock edition. It wont let you play online in the first version though because it wants you to update, which causes you to play bedrock. If theres any way you could make it update, but not update to the latest version, thst would be great

I was facing an "impossible" situation where I could get the editions button on an alt account but couldn't sign into my Microsoft account because it was linked to a different playstation account. The net result is I've been able to get a custom super flat convert it to 1.19 and on to a platform I can actually reverse engineer the level.dat. The plan is to create some sort of website so people can configure a custom super flat and get a mcworld file that will work in modern versions of bedrock.

Thank you very much I finally succeeded and do the 100% trophies !! For those who don't succeed and are only looking to make the trophies like me, here's how I did it. You must have Minecraft PS4 edition (CD version not digital) and follow the steps in the video. In case it doesn't work: 1. Create a new PSN account or use a PSN account that does not have Minecraft digital version (don't forget to deactivate all accounts on the PlayStation). 2. Launch Minecraft and the edition button should appear this time. 3. When you launch the "edition mode" and then online mode, you will be asked to sign in to PSN (which you don't normally have because it's a secondary account). 4. DON'T QUIT THE GAME, add a second controller and log into your main account which has PS+. 5. With your second controller (your main account), go to the settings of your main account and activate account sharing (which you had deactivated). 6. You quickly return to Minecraft with your first controller (secondary account), this time you can access the online mode and make your trophies. It worked with my PS5 while I have the digital Bedrock version of Minecraft on my main account.

Tbh this was never a problem 4 me bc I bought the disc in 2019 and editions was not discontinued when I made my ps4 acc in 2017. So I still have editions and plan on making a 100 days in legacy console edition
Update: You can only get the additions button 1, if you make a brand new account and follow these steps. 2, if you had the button previously and then lost it randomly :)
@@TheOriginalRoarytbYT it won’t switch between accounts no. You have to start a fresh account and then follow the steps n it’ll work. As long as you don’t restart your game whilst seeing/being in the editions only Minecraft you’ll have it, restarting the game causes you to lose the button and you’ll have to repeat the steps in order to get the button back

If you delete the worlds on your other accounts it will lose them yeah, however if you only delete the worlds on your account & back them up it should be fine! :D

Great questions! If you say turn the console off or go play something else & re-load Minecraft later the Editions button should be there. I did answer your second question in the video also by the way but to answer it again, technically no & yes. If you activate an account other than the one you are playing on & then try loading Minecraft it could potentially make you lose the Editions button again so you'd have to redo all the steps mentioned in the tutorial. However if you activate an account other than the one you are playing on to play a different game other than Minecraft, you'll be alright. Just make sure to deactivate it before re-loading Minecraft, hopefully that helps. :)
I have one save file for Minecraft from December 7th 2019 and that was 3 days before bedrock came out on PS4 yet I still don’t have the editions button. It even says it’s from “Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition”
4:12 Deleting save data is not needed, what you must do for it to work 100% is by deleting the game and force turning it off (Remove the AC Cable while the cosole is on) and putting in the PS4 ver. of the disc in and updating and it while come back ( All must be done without internet except for the update, Do not start the game after updating with internet/WiFi or it wont work)

Yes, usually that's due to you immediately pressing the button as soon as you've loaded into Bedrock which overwhelms the stupid game & causes it to crash haha. I'd suggest trying to give Bedrock at least a moment to load & sign into your Microsoft account before pressing the button, hopefully that helps. :)
I GOT IT YES FINALLY, AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, I CAN PLAY MY FUN WORLD MAP THAT I TOOK YEARS TO MAKE, I CAN PLAY ON IT AGAIN FINALLY. I am so happy. That map took YEARS to make. And then i lose it due to a glitch Thank you so much Catmanjoe. I remember having so much fun on that map, Me and my friends used to play Spleef, Parkour, and just made random things.
I’m not 100% sure if this is how I did it. I used a mixed recipe to get the editions button back. I used the date and time without internet recipe and then used a bit of this one. Doesn’t work on the PS4, but works on the PS5. It’s been almost 3 years since I’ve played Minecraft and my kiddos are 3yrs older now and more mature. Also make sure there aren’t any saves on any of the accounts on your consoles.
I’m on PS5 with digital Minecraft, I’ve tried this and it didn’t work. I looked on your discord and the other methods I cant even try because my PS5 doesn’t take discs and no one I know has editions. What else can I do?
Honestly I’m not sure sorry. If you don’t have a disc drive I have really no other options for you, additionally if you’ve not got a friend you could game share with for the button then I doubt there is much that can be done sorry. :(

An alternative way to do this without risking losing anything is getting a ps3 and getting minecraft on it, it may cost money but its simply and classic!

What would happen if i got a minecraft ps4 disc version and put it in a ps5 while also owning a digital copy of the game on there already? Would it still appear or would anything transfer at all that might interfere with this method?
My ultimate guide for getting the editions button back: 1. Homebrew By using a hacked PS4 you are able to play older versions of Minecraft PS4 edition, however this only works offline and you may want to use a different method as many people don't have hacked PS4s, yet.. 2. Game Disc Method This method should work for lots of people. For this to work you must *not* have bought Minecraft digitally, if you did use another account, make a new one and make sure that it can't download Minecraft digitally. You also need the Minecraft legacy disc, it is different as the logo for it says "Minecraft PS4 edition" instead of just "Minecraft" The steps are simple, insert the disc, play day one PS4 Minecraft before it updates (to be safe), and then launch the updated version, the editions button should be there. (Make sure your online first!) Basically the rules for this not working are if you have the game license to the new Minecraft, the button will not appear. If Sony lets us remove game licenses like on Steam from our PSN accounts, this method could be more accessible. The reason its like this is that Mojang really does not want to have licensing issues with 4J's magical port. Hopefully this helps some people out getting legacy back.
A hacked PS4 or PS5 is not a method! XD if you hack or jailbreak a PlayStation you can permanently lose your account, which obviously would suck. :/ I really wish Sony would let us remove our game licenses, it would make this so much easier for us. :(
I played legacy a lot for glide and got pretty good at it. If I do this to get the button back will I still keep all the progress I got like worlds and leaderboard placement? (eg: glide leaderboard placement)

whenever I click the editions button it just freezes and doesn't load. when I play it offline there is not option for minigames. Any help?

I know this sounds very complicated, but do you think we could rip a legacy edition disc for ps3/ps4?
I also know that on ps5 (idk about ps4) when you delete minecraft and download it again, it installs it in 2 steps. First the first version (which is legacy), then the bedrock edition. You can cancel the download for bedrock edition. It wont let you play online in the first version though because it wants you to update, which causes you to play bedrock. If theres any way you could make it update, but not update to the latest version, thst would be great

Thank you soooooo much for making this video. I was facing an "impossible" situation where I could get the editions button on an alt account but couldn't sign into my Microsoft account because it was linked to a different playstation account. The net result is I've been able to get a custom super flat convert it to 1.19 and on to a platform I can actually reverse engineer the level.dat. The plan is to create some sort of website so people can configure a custom super flat and get a mcworld file that will work in modern versions of bedrock.

For those who don't succeed and are only looking to make the trophies like me, here's how I did it.
You must have Minecraft PS4 edition (CD version not digital) and follow the steps in the video.
In case it doesn't work:
1. Create a new PSN account or use a PSN account that does not have Minecraft digital version (don't forget to deactivate all accounts on the PlayStation).
2. Launch Minecraft and the edition button should appear this time.
3. When you launch the "edition mode" and then online mode, you will be asked to sign in to PSN (which you don't normally have because it's a secondary account).
4. DON'T QUIT THE GAME, add a second controller and log into your main account which has PS+.
5. With your second controller (your main account), go to the settings of your main account and activate account sharing (which you had deactivated).
6. You quickly return to Minecraft with your first controller (secondary account), this time you can access the online mode and make your trophies.
It worked with my PS5 while I have the digital Bedrock version of Minecraft on my main account.

Tbh this was never a problem 4 me bc I bought the disc in 2019 and editions was not discontinued when I made my ps4 acc in 2017. So I still have editions and plan on making a 100 days in legacy console edition

As long as you don’t restart your game whilst seeing/being in the editions only Minecraft you’ll have it, restarting the game causes you to lose the button and you’ll have to repeat the steps in order to get the button back

Hi! This is suck a good tutorial, also this is my favourite version of minecraft! Just a question, do you need to backup all the saved data for all the accounts(will the other worlds go away for other accounts after you do the steps?)?
If you delete the worlds on your other accounts it will lose them yeah, however if you only delete the worlds on your account & back them up it should be fine! :D

Great questions! If you say turn the console off or go play something else & re-load Minecraft later the Editions button should be there. I did answer your second question in the video also by the way but to answer it again, technically no & yes. If you activate an account other than the one you are playing on & then try loading Minecraft it could potentially make you lose the Editions button again so you'd have to redo all the steps mentioned in the tutorial. However if you activate an account other than the one you are playing on to play a different game other than Minecraft, you'll be alright. Just make sure to deactivate it before re-loading Minecraft, hopefully that helps. :)

I have one save file for Minecraft from December 7th 2019 and that was 3 days before bedrock came out on PS4 yet I still don’t have the editions button. It even says it’s from “Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition”
4:12 Deleting save data is not needed, what you must do for it to work 100% is by deleting the game and force turning it off (Remove the AC Cable while the cosole is on) and putting in the PS4 ver. of the disc in and updating and it while come back ( All must be done without internet except for the update, Do not start the game after updating with internet/WiFi or it wont work)
When deleting the game, Immediately the "Deleting 1 Game..." screen comes out, Remove the AC cable and restart your console

Yes, usually that's due to you immediately pressing the button as soon as you've loaded into Bedrock which overwhelms the stupid game & causes it to crash haha. I'd suggest trying to give Bedrock at least a moment to load & sign into your Microsoft account before pressing the button, hopefully that helps. :)

I’m not 100% sure if this is how I did it. I used a mixed recipe to get the editions button back. I used the date and time without internet recipe and then used a bit of this one. Doesn’t work on the PS4, but works on the PS5. It’s been almost 3 years since I’ve played Minecraft and my kiddos are 3yrs older now and more mature. Also make sure there aren’t any saves on any of the accounts on your consoles.

I’m on PS5 with digital Minecraft, I’ve tried this and it didn’t work. I looked on your discord and the other methods I cant even try because my PS5 doesn’t take discs and no one I know has editions. What else can I do?
Honestly I’m not sure sorry. If you don’t have a disc drive I have really no other options for you, additionally if you’ve not got a friend you could game share with for the button then I doubt there is much that can be done sorry. :(

An alternative way to do this without risking losing anything is getting a ps3 and getting minecraft on it, it may cost money but its simply and classic!

My ultimate guide for getting the editions button back:
1. Homebrew
By using a hacked PS4 you are able to play older versions of Minecraft PS4 edition, however this only works offline and you may want to use a different method as many people don't have hacked PS4s, yet..
2. Game Disc Method
This method should work for lots of people.
For this to work you must *not* have bought Minecraft digitally, if you did use another account, make a new one and make sure that it can't download Minecraft digitally.
You also need the Minecraft legacy disc, it is different as the logo for it says "Minecraft PS4 edition" instead of just "Minecraft"
The steps are simple, insert the disc, play day one PS4 Minecraft before it updates (to be safe), and then launch the updated version, the editions button should be there. (Make sure your online first!)
Basically the rules for this not working are if you have the game license to the new Minecraft, the button will not appear.
If Sony lets us remove game licenses like on Steam from our PSN accounts, this method could be more accessible. The reason its like this is that Mojang really does not want to have licensing issues with 4J's magical port. Hopefully this helps some people out getting legacy back.
A hacked PS4 or PS5 is not a method! XD if you hack or jailbreak a PlayStation you can permanently lose your account, which obviously would suck. :/
I really wish Sony would let us remove our game licenses, it would make this so much easier for us. :(
