I still have the legendary Switch version. Just bought a ps4 disc last month and have been playing legacy on ps5 recently. So much fun

@@joelechampion01if you put the ps4 Minecraft disc in and then start without updating, then go to downloads and uploads and delete the Minecraft update file, then you can play what I’m pretty sure is the earliest version of legacy ps4 edition
when I was 5, my brother, who played mc ps3 edition, told me to play the game with him. I don’t remember a lot, but I remember the old tutorial worlds. I loved those, we spent hours trying to leave the tutorial area without actually completing it. We tried climbing over, digging under, digging through it, everything that we could think of. I also remember accidentally swordblocking, and we spent hours trying to find out how I did it. Thank you for teaching us how to relive these moments!

Thank you so much, I did this digitally tho. I had an account that had it legacy digitally, and it wasn’t working. I did what you did with undoing gameshare from every account and deleting those 2 save files and I got the editions button. then I gameshared with the account that has the editions button and I got it on all my accounts on my PlayStation. Hope this last part helps, thanks for the help on the first part!

I follow all steps and when i load minecraft it's saying we have added new setting for you but after i open main menu there was no edition button
could be that you have the wrong disc, you need the one where is steve in a cave.
if you have it, you propably need to uninstall the whole game (save maps on an usb stick).
and whilst you update the game you should be able to play the old edition, just do it and save a map and you will be fine
Is it possible to host the minigames on the alt account then invite my main account from another console into the same game to get the trophies? I bought the digital version on my main not realizing it'll take away my disk version edition option 😭

Another way to do it is to simply buy a Minecraft PS4 Edition Disc. It enables the editions button by default.
Not true, have one and it doesn’t give it to you immediately even if I played before bedrock edition

The issue is if you own a digital copy of bedrock. Specially if you've bought the game after they've updated the game. You won't see the editions button. The only way to access it is by loading the disc on a console with a new account or any account that doesn't own a digital copy of bedrock. I'm assuming the console downloads the digital copy when you update and just ties it to a disc copy requiring you to insert it before loading the digital copy. Which is why it doesn't realize you're using a legacy disc

The PS4 disk for Minecraft will work, you just have to cancel the pause the download of update 2.88,which is the modern version of Minecraft

I did all the steps i deleted the game and reinstalled it and deleted the gear and disabled game sharing but it still doesnt work. Its dvd disk with steve with diamond armor in the cave in ps5. Is there something i did wrong? Please help me.

if you bought after they changed it to bedrock you’ll need to buy the disc version of the old Minecraft. Sorry.
So does this not work on accounts that have played bedrock previously? Because I made a new profile on my ps5 and it worked but it didn’t work on my main
For me I made an alt account and editions still didn't appear on there either.
you'll just have to join on your main with a second controller
The issue comes from the game not actually loading data from your disc. When you own a digital copy of Bedrock it won't realize it's supposed to display the Editions button. If you don't own a digital copy of bedrock it realizes that you're using a legacy disc which will display the Editions button. The only way you could possibly fix this issue is by contacting Sony and trying to convince them to revoke your digital license for bedrock. I've personally tried before, but they refused to do so.

What happend if i buy first the digital version but i still have the disc
Then delete the digital version along with its save data. After that insert te disc and cancel the update. That´s if you have the 2014 disc version, if you have the 2019 disc version it won´t work.

i bought the bedrock version digitally back in 2020 or 2021. i bought the ps4 edition disc copy today, and when i insert the disc, it works or whatever, but when i update it, it just opens regular bedrock.
that little disc icon that appears next to minecraft, next to the little vr headset symbol isn’t there either. seems like my system just straight merged the disc and digital.
not sure how to combat this. i don’t know how to separate them into separate games or not.

So this doesn't appear to be working for me at all. I am 100% disabling the account linking thing in the menu but whenever I try to launch minecraft on my alt account with ONLY the disc, it thinks its the digital version of the game and doesn't require the disc to run after installing. I'm a bit stumped why this is the case as there's physically no way it can detect a digital license from my main account which is signed out
If this only works if your primary account has never touched or purhcased the digital version, then that really sucks since i just wanted to get the missing editions trophy on my main. Ive tried this method using 2 alt accounts as well, both of which were newly created and had never touched minecraft before. Such a shame
just delete the digital version on the disk should work :)

You need the disk, and even if you have the disk, if you have digital version tied to your main account it wont work, the disk method only works with accounts that don't own the digital version unfortunately

But if this doesn't work, repeat this steps and combine it with backing up your save data for Minecraft and deleting it. If this doesn't work, here's a LAST RESORT.. backup all of your data and factory reset. Insert your save data for Minecraft so the PlayStation knows you actually have it, then install Minecraft again. Delete the save data with the gears on it (except for the PlayStation 4 edition ones if you have those.) And relaunch Minecraft. If this doesn't work, combine all steps. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you. Get the 2014 disc if this doesn't work and I'll tell you what to do next

@@Tang335 nah it's probably because im on ps4 but i did the steps that you did on the ps5 in ps4 format if that makes sense. I created a brand new account, made sure every primary ps4 was off, then launched bedrock edition. The disc im using is the old ps4 edition but it's updated to the latest version. I even deleted my save data and nothing worked
