Just picked this up today, I haven't recorded anything yet but I'm hoping this camera will last me a while. It has so many features and it's a great price.
great videos man:) vary helpfull i was gonna comment on your other video but couldint so i was gonna ask what settings did you have?? it looked really good!
Thank you! =) I wish I could remember witch settings I was exactly using for that vlog, but unfortunately I don't. What I do know is I had it in Manual Video Mode, 1080p 24p, shutter speed set as close to 50 as possible and iso as low as possible while still retaining proper exposure. Hope that helps!
Just went an picked this up late today based on reviews. Haven't bought a camera since my Panasonic FZ20 that's collecting dust most of the time since my iPhones came on the scene. I bought this in hopes of it being able to produce higher quality pics, the 30X zoom and the bonus of the viewfinder that I must have outdoors in a small package. I'm not a blogger, just want high quality pics with a good travel camera so I'm not lugging a huge camera around on vacation. Not traveling for another 8 days or so trying to settle into something before I go. Based on your experience with this camera, which mode you'd use most for an outdoor vacation that will minimize constantly messing with the settings? I'll get outdoors and experiment after work this week but if it's not "making the cut", I suppose I'll take it back for something bigger. Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks for the time you take to produce these reviews.
I have this camera also. And I seem cant find the right setting for HD and if you see my vlogs they sucks!! I need help for a HD setting for this sony hx80 pls. thanks
I watched the other video, nice job. I think I'm sold on buying this camera. I travel with my family and I hate to lug around a DSLR. For travel videos and pictures do you recommend this camera? Is there another camera you would suggest? The zoom is what I like sometimes what we are taking pictures of are far away. Such as animals in the national parks.
Ive been looking for a good and cheap photo taking camera, people call it a vlogging camera, but does it actually tske good practical pictures overall?
Would you recommend this camera over the g9x? (i know the g9x doesn't have a flip up screen) but i just want to know which one is worth the money more. Please help.
What are you using it for? Personally, I would buy the G9X over the HX80 because of the G9X's larger sensor and overall better image quality. Check out my review on the G9X if you haven't already. Also, check out Ted Forbes (Art of Photography) review of the G9X as well. That should give you a good idea of if it's a good camera for you.
I'm exporting the vlog right now. It will be linked in the description of this video in 30 minutes or so. The RX100 Mk 4 is defintely a better camera than the HX80. But it's also $600 more.
thank you for the video but can you let me know how good it is on low light condition videos if it has a lot of noise I'm looking for one mostly vlog indoors and nighttime I want to buy the Canon G7 X. i don't wanna waste all that money if it's something good out there with less price thank you appreciate
I think you should only need a UHS 1 card for 1080p XAVC S recording on this camera. Thanks for pointing that out. I will update the description. From what I understand though you will still need at least a 64 gb card.
Hello, I have this camera & whenever I save the files from it to my computer, the quality is shit. It looks like 360p, but whenever I see someone else upload a video with it, it looks good. What do you think it could be?
Hey! I think the HX80 isn't going to be significantly better image quality over most modern smartphones. What it does have over them though is versatility. If you want better image quality definitely go with the RX100. It's larger sensor is going to produce better images.
It's definitely a decent camera for the price. Not very good in low light thought and that is my biggest problem with it. I have a vlog i made on my channel with if any of you want to check it out!
Just saw this in Best Buy. Considering this camera for vlogging. Thanks for this video!
No problem!
Same!
StormSmith Do you think it's good as a travel camera for pictures and videos?
Just buy Galaxy s8.. That will have much better image & video unless you zoom too much
kevozworld me too
Your video quality is insane my man ! This video really helped me out on if I should purchase this camera or not !
Just picked up one of these to use as a vlogging camera, and I'm excited to see how it does on the day to day.
Nice!
how is/was it?
Good review! Watching in 2024
By far the best review of the Sony HX80. Thanks for posting this video. I've subscribed to your channel.👍
Thanks for a concise and informative review!
Thank you!

Intelligent Auto mode will probably be best if you don't want to mess around with settings. Let me know how you like it. Thanks for the comment.

Zackary Johnson thanks for the help! And im planning on using it for vlogs and recording soccer videos
Is this camera good for night shots
Thanks a bunch pal
Nice video, but the image processor is a Bionz X, not digic 6 (that is Canon)
In 2017 hx80 or hx400v??
Notice the chromatic abs in trees but great cam
does anyone know what the on-camera audio is like on this camera??
Hey Mike, check the vlog I made in the description of the video for an example of what the on-camera audio is like on the camera. Thanks for watching.
Where's the vlog
And also this or the rx100 mk 4
I'm exporting the vlog right now. It will be linked in the description of this video in 30 minutes or so. The RX100 Mk 4 is defintely a better camera than the HX80. But it's also $600 more.
+Zackary Johnson thank you very much for your time
No problem. The vlog link is in the description now.
thank you for the video but can you let me know how good it is on low light condition videos if it has a lot of noise I'm looking for one mostly vlog indoors and nighttime I want to buy the Canon G7 X. i don't wanna waste all that money if it's something good out there with less price thank you appreciate
It's not great for low light photo and video. You could definitely make it work though. But the G7X is going to be better.
Does it really need uhs3 SD card for xavc s? Or is a uhs 1 good enough?
I think you should only need a UHS 1 card for 1080p XAVC S recording on this camera. Thanks for pointing that out. I will update the description. From what I understand though you will still need at least a 64 gb card.
+Zackary Johnson OK thanks, do you recommend getting warranty or does it seem pretty durable?
It seems pretty durable.
Hello, I have this camera & whenever I save the files from it to my computer, the quality is shit. It looks like 360p, but whenever I see someone else upload a video with it, it looks good. What do you think it could be?
Under Settings>File Format what do you have it set as?
Zackary Johnson I don't have it with me right now, but I'm pretty sure it AVCHD. I know for sure not MP4.
Does it have image stabilisation ?
It does
NO WAY... MY NAME IS ZAC!
Do u need to buy a sd card for this camera to use it
yeah
Good video.
Thank you
hey!
should i buy rx100 or this? i aint any professional photographer. but would love to have good quality i mean far better than cellphone camera.

Can you attach a microphone?
Nope
