Sky Lynx is a great character. He's one of those unique transformers like Reflector & Soundwave that stand out because they're so different. Are they combiners? Not quite. Requires multiple bots to make sense? Yup. Creates online dialogue about nostalgic childhood toys? Wonderful!
Yeah I always loved a lot of the unique characters that were different from the rest. Sky Lynx was no exception.

This is one of those wonderful goofy concepts that frustratingly gets passed over as “too cheesy” for modern audiences.
I honestly hate when anything that is considered "cheesy" gets absolute overshadowed. Can we please have something cheesy for once!?
Until the day where the Lynx part talks to his space shuttle part like they're separate bots or fight against each other, Sky lynx is a single bot with 2 bodies.

Sky lynx was actually one of my favorite transformers in the 3rd season sure he had a big ego but he is one of the only autobots to take down predaking without help.
It looks like earthrise is giving more forgotten characters a chance: skylynx, alicons, quintessons, sunstreaker, trail breaker, grapple. I'd really like a triple pack of gears, swerve and windcharger
I love that they are. So many are complaining about too much G1 and here we are getting the unique characters that many of us loved and wanted to see updated for so long.
@@RodimusPrimal exactly like I'm 15 and did watch a few episodes of g1 when I was little and loved it, the designs look so good and I've always wanted to see them translate into live action and in toy form, I hope they expand to the rest of of the mini bots like tailgate and pipes

I always thought the Idea of an autobot who is so non-humanoid in all modes is really cool! It makes the Transformer species feel like it both has more subtypes and is more exotic!
I personally classify Sky Lynx as freaking awesome and I need a masterpiece version of him!!
Considering Sky Lynx is arguably a combo of the Lynx and what appears to be a pterosaur, what he is essentially to me is a chimera like being.
Also, its fantastic characters like Sky lynx and even the alicons and Quintessons are getting toys after quite some time

I don’t really think about Sky Lynx’s classification too much. I’m just happy that Hasbro finally released a proper Sky Lynx figure with the Earthrise line

Yeah, I always considered him to be a dragon, too. It's the logical conclusion to him having similar genetics as the dinobots.
Sky Lynx was my favorite character from S3, such a unique design and I loved his personality, a contrast to his beast-like appearance.
Also, with the rivalry between Sky Lynx and the Predacons, I felt it was a nice touch that Rampage was the one that said: "Sky Lynx is destroyed! Who will lead us now?!" in the Call of the Primitives episode (which is coincidentally one of my favorite episodes of S3).

Thanks to Sky Lynx, Optimus was resurrected (Sky Lynx found and brought a Quintesson) and then Optimus saved the universe. That was a pretty epic feat by Sky Lynx.
He is many things, but the one thing Sky Lynx is definitely not is a dinobot!
He's not a dinobot, but he is classified as a primal beast, along with the dinobots, predacons, ravage, rabat, lazerbeak, and other similar beast-cons in the g1 universe
I loved his pomposity in "Call of the Primitives" and willingness to take on Trypticon head on.
He is definitely not a Dinobot and refuses to participate in this kangaroo court.
Yeah, he’s only associated with Dinobots due to him having “dinosaur transform static.”
Sky Lynx is quite simply "Magnificent".
So first it was Jetfire/Skyfire, then Omega Supreme, then finally Sky Lynx as the Autobots main mode of transportation. I know Astrotrain wished there were some other transports (i.e., Blast Off) the Decepticons could have hitched a ride in so he could get a break sometime!
Sky Lynx would have been SERIOUS trouble for the Bots had he been a Con! The switch from "Anibots" to "Predacons" was a good one though.
I heard the next TF movie is going to be called "The Fantabulous Emancipation Of Commander Modesty."
Skyline is just a simple superior example of what all autobots strive to be like.
Classify? There is no classification grand enough for such a magnificent being!

Skylynx would probably enjoy being in a class of his own, to accentuate his uniqueness.
I always loved Sky Lynx, he was boastful but it always came across as full of character rather than arrogance. He's also integral to my favourite episode, The Return of Optimus Prime and that episode shows his heart and resilience very well.
Sky Lynx is my all time favorite Autobot and it's so good to see him again in all his magnificent glory. ^^
Finally SkyLynx, I admit it's hard to tell the story of SkyLynx without "Magnificent", "Awesome", "Formidable" and others
It was Toybox who requested Tomy to design the original toy on its behalf. After Takara and Tomy merged in 2005, it allowed the toy to be reissued into the Encore line. Sky Lynx didn't appear in the Japanese series initially because Takara didn't want to give their competition free advertising.
Speaking of the WFC cartoon, the first season is being delayed to make foreign dubs so Netflix can sell it to as many countries as possible. Because of COVID-19, finding foreign actors will become a chore and we may not be able to see the cartoon this summer. Check TF Slag Podcast for more details.

Never knew he was motorized. Thought he was one of the best when I saw him in the cartoon and his toy. Was great to see the Autobots get a shuttle Transformer in the ranks since the Decepticons had Astrotrain and Blastoff among their ranks.

I love Sky Lynx so much. Along with the uniqueness of being one of three Autobot Space transports, his cockiness was absolutely justified, since he proved time and time again that he could back it with actions.
The wfc toy is beautiful, huge, and boasts an almost masterpiece level of screen accuracy and posability. So much value for it's price tag.
This was the most magnificent video about Skylynx that I have ever watched. :D Skylynx is such a modest Autobot, words fail to describe what exactly his amazing combined robot mode is, maybe a griffin or perhaps an alien design created by Vector Sigma. :D

Two years ago, a friend gave me the original Sky Lynx g1 figure in its box; It was widely used but the truth is not changed by any of the other versions. Much less for being the figures that use batteries and I love to see him move in his spaceship mode or walk in his prehistoric bird mode. I also love the gear mechanism it carries and know that it was a novelty 34 years ago. So now that I got a new set of stickers for this figure, I am going to dedicate myself very calmly to restoring it, simply because it is worth it and it is a beautiful figure ...
You know, I kept thinking, back when I first saw stuff about Energon, how cool would it have been if the birds and cats stealing energon didn't merely have the bird carry the cat, but if they linked up orr if the cat had the wings and flight. Turns out I was decades behind.
I really enjoyed this refresher on Sky Lynx.
He was never a figure I was really interested in but recently acquired a G1 version.

And here we are with my 4th favorite Autobot. Sky Lynx is a complete ham, a theatrical, grandstanding, showboating braggart with a bizzare alt mode. Yet despite that he actually is legit strong and therefore can back up that boasting.
I look at the Earthrise toy and turn into Wayne from Wayne’s World: It will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.

As always, this review was Magnificent my friend! I can´t wait to get my hands on this new Sky Lynx Toy! I will define Sky Lynx as his own type of transformer since, there is no one like him. I would say he is a Beast Duocon, like Battle Slash and Skytread / Flywheels. Since he is an autobot he would be a Beast Duobot!

Ah yes, Sky Lynx, Commander Modesty. I never really considered his nature when I was younger because I tended to view things much simpler. A triple changer was a "normal" size Transformer with three separate modes, combiners were made up of multiple "normal" size tranasformers (the distinction being that the components didn't have a third "separate" form. For the record, this was years before I learned that the leaders of most of the combiner teams had base/launcher modes), and the giants were the large robots who had multiple modes and features. I considered Sky Lynx as one of these, along with Omega Supreme, due to his large size. My theory was that he had a similar system to Optimus Prime and Roller, except that in his case he could control both of his halves even while separate. However, though it has been years, I don't recall a time when he was separated and talked while fighting or flying. When separated, he either talked or he acted, never both at once unless he was in his combined state. Let me know what you think, would love to hear your thoughts.

Whenever I see that footage of the resurrection of Optimus, I can't get the Rude Awakening of Optimus Prime out of my head!
Sky Lynx is definitely the best character when he's battling the Predacons who merge into Predaking, and I'm very excited for his commander class mode.
I like seeing Autobots and Decpticons that stick out as different from the usual type. Armada Demolisher's loyalty, Warpath's brutal embrace of violence, and here, the prideful monster that is a dragon.... sides with the Autobots.

Wow, I didn't know that there was more to Sky-Lynx then originally thought. His Autobot rank of Lieutenant Commander is impressive. At first glance of G1 Sky-Lynx, I didn't think that he was the kind of Autobot that boasted about his talents quite often. Though he was more of a transport dog from the comics. I actually preferred that he was a triple charger from the G1 comics. I was first introduced to Sky-Lynx during the Combiner War era, though I didn't much at the time. Prime was the next introduction to the character, and I like his Predacon design more so. His red design from the 3D card game for the 2007 Transformers movie is interesting and wish that this character was explored more. And it's great that Earthrise included a Shuttle Base mode for Sky-Lynx, as a reference to the old Micromaster rocket base.

Also, in the old Marvel series, Blast Off wasn't so much deactivated as put in a mode-lock, something I wish they would have explained further and looked into more- always wondered what he thought of the events that happened, if he remembered anything at all.

My first introduction to Sky Lynx was in “The return of Optimus Prime” episodes. The quote of him seeing Optimus brought back to life was a great one.

As for classification Skylynx must secretly be a prime or some kind of machine god messiah, He combines, separates, triple change’s and has a base mode now, I’m sure next he will get something else added to him to add on to his list of godly power
Na. Look at some of the other examples. DinoBird and Lynx share a brain afaik, so its the equivalent of a duocon. We've seen Dreadwing / Darkwing being two separate brains combining to Dreadwing, and the comics show they can argue with each other and their nebulon companions, so SL aint that. Also pretty sure, most scramble city, erm, combiners argue internally (most media). Also most leaders are now bases as well, so combiner must now include that. By extension SL not a combiner, else you would class Omega Supreme as a combiner. Metroplex, Scorponok both transform into robots, cities and spaceships / large scorpion (because why not) but have a different classification (comics/TV/merch). Both have autonomous robots, so again not relevant.
Heck OpPrime and Roller is an example.

I think it just boils down to Commander Modesty, doesn't need a classification, and if you spoke to him he would agree. He's just SkyLynx. That's enough.
