Ah yes, Wheeljack. That lovable lug nut, Wheeljack and his whacky inventions that always go haywire. Maybe Spike should have LIED to him and told dinosaurs were super intelligent beings! Oh we got to see his horrifying corps in the movie!
After Optimus Prime, Wheeljack is the next Autobot name I memorized. Guess from that childhood naivety up to now, there's a part of me being fond of mechanical stuffs/repairs. It took me 14 years to fully watch the 1986 film. Well, its hard to see him and Ratchet bid farewell in "The Great War." Their departures paved way to First Aid. But then, the producers/animators should create a scene Wheeljack and Ratchet played a significant role in constructing Autobot city and Metroplex. Speaking of significant contributions, I remember and appreciate more of their key roles in three-part "The Ultimate Doom" episodes. Alongside Jetfire/Skyfire, it was action-packed! ;) As always, thanks very much! :)
Another 18 valuable minutes well spent reminusing on Transformers, thanks for the dedication to entertaining and historical references for fans and newcomers alike.

I love these retrospective videos you do, it really brings back memories of watching the Transformers after school every day. And they’re very informative, as you get into a lot of Transformers cartoons and comic books that I’ve never seen. My kids are starting to get into that new Netflix series.
The Genetronic Translink System could also explain how Ironhide and Smokescreen made non-speaking appearances in the Headmasters with Prowl. Smokescreen was intended to die and given how there was a Smokescreen-colored Wheeljack that was in the same room, Smokescreen's death was prevented by this intention. But it would be unintentionally responsible for the creation of the Generation 2 Smokescreen.
Great review. Honestly though I have a question. Why are Que and Dino fro DotM referred to as Wherljack and Mirage among fans? They were not called those names in the movie. I never paid attention to the toys or other ancillary media. It just seems they aren't those characters at all, so they should not have their names.
It would have been interesting to see how the cartoon writers would have handled the story after Hasbro brought back characters like Wheeljack and Prowl; assuming the series held on till the end of the line, that is.
For me the most logical answer for the question of who my favorite wheeljack is Would be the 1 from the original generation 1 cartoon...Even though some of his inventions back fire "Duck or it's barbecue city!" Wheeljack 1985
Yes! Wheeljack is my favorite character in the whole series and one of my favorite characters in all of fiction. I love his design, I love his character, I love his color scheme, heck I can’t think of a single thing I don’t like about Wheeljack (that doesn’t have to do with that thing from DotM)
Personally, I think they should make cartoon accurate toys of every character that had a Cybertronian mode in G1. They kind of did with the seekers, and G1 Soundwave could kind of be made into his "streetlight" mode, but the others like Wheeljack, Bumblebee, Jazz and Laserbeak should be done too.
They definitely need to make wheeljack's cybertronian vehicle mode! When they first announced this trilogy, and Siege being the first chapter was the war was still on Cybertron, not on Earth yet, I was thinking we was going to finally get his original cartoon vehicle mode! But Hasbro missed the chance to make him! Maybe one day we'll get a version of him in his original cybertronian mode, as well as Bumblebee, and Jazz!
Small correction: Wheeljack transformed in a Lancia Stratos Turbo, and while that one is based on the rally car, it's a completely different beast. (Group 5 endurance racing).
Good to know. I was looking up his car when researching the script but I don't know enough about racing to go any further than I did. I've been told that the car broke down a lot, which made a LOT of sense for him being Wheeljack.
Nice introduciton video, almost includes everything. Wheeljack is my favourite transformer and it's just so happy for me to see him still be active in the franchise. I especially like the G1 version and the Prime version. Although they are so different. BTW, it's good to see wheeljack appears in the new netflix show. But it seems that he only appears at the beginning (according to the poster, or other stuffs we can already see)... I just hope that he can appear more in the main story in the future.
Wheeljack is one of my favorite Autobots from the cartoon. A genius, a tinkerer, and co-creator of both the Dinobots and Aerialbots. The side panels on his head flashes when he talks. He was killed off in the Transformers the movie.
Best Wheeljack? G1 version of course! The other ones had their charm, but not the Armada one, that should have been either Sideswipe or Rampage, as their Japanese counter part. He is one of the best characters in all of transformers. I hope someday Hasbro listens to us give us a Cybertron Altmode Wheeljack and an Winged Cybertron Altmode Bumblebee!

I would like to point out that in season 3 of TFPrime (episode name: Evolution) there is a scene where Wheeljack tells Ultra Magnus he improved his ship’s engines. This would indicate that Wheeljack does have a good deal of knowledge in mechanical engineering. So I gave it some source material points for that at least.
one of my fav characters in the g1 cartoon, it was always fun to see what he made, and then watch it blow him in the face or used by the decepticons, I remember actually wanting to be like him when I grow up...guess I'll either make my self a suit of armor or set extra precautions ^_^' for me the most iconic thing about him was the blinking ears every time he talked, wish the recent games/cartoons had added that
I would combine G1 Wheeljack and Transformers Prime Wheeljack. He needs his glowing ears but I love the idea of a removable facemask and the fact he's a bit tougher in Prime. But he still needs that quirky goof-up characterization. He's spunky and fun, but tough and smart.
Wheeljack was a capable fighter in G1 as well, but his skills were better used in the lab. I'm glad that he's going back to his original characterization in Cyberverse and looks to be that way in Siege. Prime Wheeljack was more like Springer or Impactor.
@@RodimusPrimal True...but I guess I still kinda liked that. But I still agree. It's nice to have a bit more of his G1 counterpart coming back. Did they get the accent right? I'd like that Brooklyn accent to make a comeback, as well.

This would indicate that Wheeljack does have a good deal of knowledge in mechanical engineering. So I gave it some source material points for that at least.
Nice video!! So much I didn’t know about this character!!
I didn't understand why he had an Italian-American accent until earlier this year, but at least I figured it out on my own. 😂
Never noticed how he was basically covered in the italian flag? XD
@@arx3516 Yeah, and the actual car that he's based on says "Alitalia".
one of my fav characters in the g1 cartoon, it was always fun to see what he made, and then watch it blow him in the face or used by the decepticons, I remember actually wanting to be like him when I grow up...guess I'll either make my self a suit of armor or set extra precautions ^_^'
for me the most iconic thing about him was the blinking ears every time he talked, wish the recent games/cartoons had added that
Wheeljack: "This time... WILL BE DIFFERENT!"
*Dinobots attack everyone*
Wheeljack: "IT'S NOT DIFFERENT AT ALL IS IT HUFFER?!"
Great video. Wheeljack is one of my favorite Autobots
My favourite Wheeljack is G1 and Cyberverse
I’m really happy that you made this video Good old Wheeljack ever since I watched the first 3 episode of g1 he has always been my favorite transformers character, to me he was the one that got me into transformers as for my favorite version it’s of course g1 but I do like the IDW and the tf prime version too, and yes they should make a toy of his cybertronian mode. And always remember “never do what your enemy expects you to do”
G1 Wheeljack is the Best! I love his glowing Ears, when he spokes!!!
Animated Wheeljack was designed to look like Jamie Hyneman of Mythbusters fame.
@@mingfanzhang4600 ...?
Fantastic video as always.
Wheeljack is my favorite 3rd members of the Autobots
Wheeljack has been my favorite character since i first saw the cartoon back in 85. Idk always loved his look and attitude.
Yes!! Wheeljacl finally my favorite!
One of my favorite retrospectives so far! Good old classic wheeljack for me.... we will see if that changes after Netflix 🤘😁🤘
Fun fact: Michael Daingerfield voiced the cartoon version of Ace Ventura under the name "Michael Hall".
someone likes aqua team hunger force as well.
Dreamwave Transformers was really good. It's too bad it ended abruptly due to Dreamwave's bad business practices.
One of the most important Autobots.
One of my favorite Transformers of all time and in my estimation one of the top 5 most vital of all time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
It still hurts to watch the scene when wheeljack was dead in autobot city on the 1986 transformers movie
Also forgot to mention when I first saw transformers victory and wondered how wheel jack was alive, I thought maybe he did survive the movie and when we saw his lifeless body he could have been in stasis.
The Japanese came up with their own solution to a problem they created.
Wheeljack upon testing unproven inventions, such as a Dinobot or three perhaps, should have installed a remote controlled "off switch" if things go haywire.
And remove it when proven worthy.
