I love Bulkhead. He’s easily one of my favourite Autobots. I started watching Animated for the first time a few weeks ago (got up to Blackarachnia’s introduction) and adored the clumsy giant all over again.
@@catandogclone7880 Also, didn't Blackarachnia debut in the three-part series premiere? "Along Came a Spider," the episode you mentioned, was Blackarachnia's spotlight episode
I’ve always been a fan of Bulkhead ever since the animated cartoon. I loved the character in Prime and that is still my favorite iteration of him. When it comes to the legacy figure I actually enjoy him a lot more than I initially thought I would. He fits great with a G1 generations display. I’m sure we will get a proper updated primed figure in the near future from Hasbro.
Bulkhead I feel was very memorable in both TF prime and animated and was where I fist found out about the character as that big strong brute of the group whose fun abit playful at times and is that extra muscle needed within the battlefield against the enemy
as someone who grow up with TFP,i love bulkhead, his unique heavy design and color scheme is the reason,i do like his personality in the show and his realtionship with miko, the legacy toy looks decent and it needs the TFA bulkhead jaw thing
10:43 I personally doubt it. I feel it’s way more likely that he was simply based and designed to fit John Goodman’s voice. I think makes sense given how Drift and Sentinel Prime were modeled after real life people as well. Not to mention his personality is typical of Autobots in the Bayverse since practically all of them are trigger happy.
Well apparently bulkhead was originally gonna be used, since age of extinction takes a lot of plot queues from animated, such as the severed megatron head being used to make more robots but the living head taking matters into its own hands
Even though I didn't like animated all that much, I'll admit that the tfa version was the first "real" bulkhead to me. The prime version is my favorite but I've got to admit the animated one was a good character. Also, as far as movie versions go, inaccurate or not, hound was cool. I hope that version comes back.
For Hound I 100 percent prefer the G1 cartoon character over any one else. I like both Animated and Prime Bulkhead too. It's why I enjoy the Legacy figure so much.
I hate how Prime downgraded his character so much from Animated and made him JUST a big dumb warrior who smashed stuff. In animated he was genuinely intelligent, just clumsy.
I never knew of the helicopter Bulkhead, I never watched that series. I always thought Bulkhead was a renaming and redesigning of the G1 Headmaster character Hardhead. I liked Transformers Prime Bulkhead best.
If Flint Dille - who put Bulkhead in the brilliant Autocracy series - sez Bulkhead is a legit Bot, then that's all ya need! I wasn't too hot on TF Animated, so TF Prime's Bulk became MY Bulk. P.S., that "I Am Not Amused" shot @9.01 with Ultra Magnus is the funniest thing I've ever seen! 🤣
Bulkhead is a PRIME example of working on a character’s personality over multiple franchises until you finally get it right, which is actually rare for transformers, which is more known for drifting away from a successful character into very odd creative paths
He's an excellent character in animated, prime and R.I.D. So many show accurate toys, and all I have is the legacy release, which I'm content with. Great retrospective, it's fun once in a while to go outside G1. You keep producing great material time after time, keep it up!
6:40 Ironically. In AoE and TLK, they made a character that resembles Bulkhead but was called “Hound” instead (probably to not confuse the younger fans, who are only familiar with Prime).

Very well reasearched video! I didn't know about the Orbots inspiration, the role he played in animated's whole aesthetic or the reason he was in prime! Also, I dig the legacy look. I always likeed that blockier, more mechanical look.
While animated Bulkhead reminded me of Warrior from Tugs and Patrick from SpongeBob, Prime made Bulkhead one of my favorite Autobots as Kevin Michael Richardson did a fantastic job voicing him and his character is definitely a wonderful one.
tho I grew up with Prime Bulkhead, and Energon definitely didn't suit the name of the character, I actually like TF Animated's Bulk because he was one of the best original characters from that series (like Lugnut & Lockdown), and his lovable personality (in both series); I would also like to see retrospectives on characters like Knock Out & Barricade, who have gotten recent figures in Generations (Barricade in the WFC Trilogy, & Knock Out in Legacy)
