    The landcruiser 200 going off the line stronger than the 300 and then the 300 catching up and beating the 200 later shows that the initial shove of that big v8 diesel is still unmatched despite forced induction winning the horsepower war, and the drag eventually. As a diesel mechanic myself of 25 years experience in the trade and 10 years as business owner . I would have to have to say you can not make more power from a smaller engine without sacrificing longevity hence the reason all heavy road transport vehicles are over 11 liters engine capacity. The only reason you drop cylinders or capacity is the beat emissions. It's not for more power not better economy not for more torque its only a v6 now for emissions reasons facts.

    "Destruction Testing!" That's impressive! It would be interesting to see if the 300s discs warped or its pads burned up to be less effective? I think that Ruben is right, the 300s auto box has the edge over the 200s and that certainly helped on the drag race. Toyota put its "Research and Development" money into the drivetrain, the engine and gearbox for the 300, the looks are similar but it's lighter and the V6 with the turbos in the valley makes for a compact package, let's see what the mechanics think about working on it? In my opinion....... it's NOT a HUGE LEAP FORWARD but it's an upgrade!

    • @dirtymuddyweekends
      @dirtymuddyweekends  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Josey - the 300 didn't warp the pads and it still continued to brake very well when hot. It was quite impressive! Some of the things you mention will take some time to really know, but it is good to go through the process and learn more about about the car.

      @@dirtymuddyweekends, Thanks for your reply. When I think about the Landcruiser, the huge leap forward from the 60 series to the 80 series brought it from being an "agricultural vehicle" to being a very capable off road luxury vehicle. There's not that huge leap from the 200 series to the 300 series and only time will tell if the drivetrain is a great improvement. Another thing that Ruben didn't mention about the 300 was the amount of aluminium used in the body to reduce weight. Practically every panel is alloy, a lot more than the 200 and how durable is the body on the tough tracks? I am impressed with the 300s acceleration and stopping once it was loaded up with weight. Toyota seems to have got that right. Thanks again! 👍✌🍻

    How ugly are these Toyota cruises
    And I own a 200
    Surely Toyota is gunner fix that
    We only buy them because of towing requirements not because we like a big slug on the road to drive that drives like a boat

    Y62.. A Big NA 8 been the go to for a lot more years, keep the small capacity, light weight internals, high pressure, light oil type, Leeds to oil usage all to achieve environmental regs.

    perhaps if you turned off vsc and traction control the 300 series would not dial back when stalling it up? (same goes for 200 series maybe?)

    Another great video, thank you.😃
    I love my 200 but with 235,000km. I ready for a change. My problem is I can't make up my mind which colour!!!!! My Prado and 200 are both Graphite but I'm ready for a change in colour too. I like the new Prado Blue(really dark) but of course not available in the 300. I'm not really a red person but Mazda do a nice deep red/Burgandy(so no joy there). The white looks great but everybody has one. I'm in a dilemma .....oh the pain!!
    Keep up the great videos Ruebin, love em😀

    an airbox problem is AN ENGINE problem. unfortunately
    after my father inlaw blew 3 gearboxes in his 2 LC's he got a Prado, towed better, got better fuel economy, more reliable and was more comfortable.
