These scammers spend so much time building up trust before bringing up the subject of money. I suspect the greatest loss she experienced was the feeling of humiliation from being conned by this scammer, but she should be very proud of herself for putting a stop to the scam early on and mitigating her losses.

Actually, having a low self-esteem would actually help in such cases, and not allow you to believe that you are so great that this person prefers you over everyone they meet in real life and can see in person. Someone with low self-esteem wouldn't believe that their personality is that great that is person picked them. "Is my personality that great? Do I look like a model? Why is this person interested in me, realistically?"
I agree. I got scammed soon after leaving my abusive boyfriend. With higher self esteem, you are more selective and cautious and willing to just end whatever you thought you had to move on to better things.

He said he cannot come. He wanted a gift card Bingo!! Scammer has failed! And i report this on WhatsApp as wel on instagram.
The number one reason why people are getting deceived is ignoring the basics: 1) the internet is not a real place anything can be faked 2) stop judging people by their looks and money - if they're that rich and good looking they wouldn't be talking to you anyway...

Always stay safe when you don't trust people IRL already, meet in public places after having no doubt you are communicating with a fully open real person, they shouldn't hesitate to send updated photos on short notice for one. many will play the anxiety card or the busy card, be wary of resistance vs your efforts to get more proof you are in contact with who you are in contact with. but also be wary of what you reveal about yourself, don't get doxed until you trust the person enough to meet them, and practice username hygiene online so people won't trace back your money talks with your socializing accounts on forums and social media.

Recently there are quite a few “handsome” men asked for connection on LinkedIn. Once we became friends on LinkedIn, they began saying something like I am planning to visit your city on a business trip and we could catch up or maybe he could ask me to show him around blablabla… then they asked for my WhatsApp and I told them I didn’t use. I only used Wechat. Then we became wechat friends. Then I asked them to send their voice messages or make a voice call. After hearing their voice, I immediately blocked and deleted each one of them on wechat and LinkedIn. Their voice and the way they talked just didn’t match the way they looked in their photos. Be careful, lots of bad people around…

My scammer went as far as to meet my dad and watch a movie in our house before he went back to the other side of the country. In reality, most women are scammed by men emotionally, guys who pretend to be romantic, supportive, etc. But once the real dating starts, that's when their ugly side shows. I am scammed for nearly $300k in the last two months but I have no interest in sharing my story unless I get help in getting my funds back. Everybody just listens but have no time to help! I am in the nervous breakdown and depression but who really cares? I even contacted a recovery company but that seems to be fraud which made me lose another 1500$. And these people who share these links in LinkedIn , they don't even care an ounce about the victims but just get that fame they wanted by drawing everyone's attention.

If you are communicating with someone Online always check your story Online, stories on TH-cam or a Google search. You will see similar stories of people being scammed. The script is always the same or very similar. You will see your story mirrored there. It will stop you from going further.
If the person will not have actual conversations with you then they are fake. If they will not talk to you about something other than love and money then they are fake.

This is reported as there is financial loss. In reality, most women are scammed by men emotionally, guys who pretend to be romantic, supportive, etc.
But once the real dating starts, that's when their ugly side shows. By then, the women are already enraptured by the initial side of such men. Then they get stuck in a one-sided, loveless relationship with sprinkles of mental and emotional abuse.

Actually this happened twice before to a close person of mine don’t wanna name names. I was like are u dumb? It’s clearly scam . Did he give u money ? No then ask u for money clearly scam. I am scammed for nearly $300k in the last two months but I have no interest in sharing my story unless I get help in getting my funds back. Everybody just listens but have no time to help! I am in the nervous breakdown and depression but who really cares? I even contacted a recovery company but that seems to be fraud which made me lose another 1500$. And these people who share these links in LinkedIn , they don't even care an ounce about the victims but just get that fame they wanted by drawing everyone's attention.

i still dont get how people fall for these scams but that is just because im in general a cynical person and not trusting of others. i barely use social media and only communicate with people i know properly really. i feel sorry for the victims regardless though because falling victim to a scam doesn't mean u are stupid , it means u are trusting and open and often a caring person , this is the saddest part of all- being a good person puts a red dot on ur head nowadays

There seems to be a reoccurring theme with scammers saying they work in construction
They seems to use the same technique . Is time for the non-scammers to fool them back . Shut them down after getting the first “hook” .
My hescript is always the same or very similarart is broken when I read these stories of people scammed. If you are communicating with someone Online always check your story Online, stories on TH-cam or a Google search. You will see similar stories of people being scammed. The script is always the same or very similar. You will see your story mirrored there. It will stop you from going further.
If the person will not have actual conversations with you then they are fake. If they will not talk to you about something other than love and money then they are fake.
