  • Peugeot took it upon themselves to upgrade the e-2008 for 2022 in an effort to keep up with the hotly contested small SUV market.
    Tish answers two pressing questions:
    A) Have the upgrades made a difference to the efficiency?
    B) Can the e-2008 compete with other big badge electric SUVs?

    I've had my e2008 in blue for 16 months now and I love it. Tick's all my boxes: size, looks, practicality, handling, speed (in sport mode its great) and its been totally reliable so far. Range wise: At 100% the computer says 202 miles but its very much a guide as people who own electric cars know. Winter, people, speed, hills, wind all affect range. I have found that on a motorway in the winter range is about 2:1, i.e. stated battery is 2 for 1 on a motorway - thus about 100 miles. Cross country with lots of corners/braking or urban driving about 180 miles easy and reliably. Really like the silent clean driving experience. Dont want to go back to ICE again.

    I had the e-2008 for a week and considered it, but went with the ë-C4 instead. It was priced better and felt a bit more upmarket - the comfort simply sealed it for me.
    During the week I had the Peugeot I did around 650 km (400 miles) and averaged 130 Wh/km (13 kWh/100 km or 4.78 miles per kWh).

    Batteries are only going to get better over time and range will improve in new models. My concern is that 214 miles will not seem a lot in two or three years time, just as the Nissan Leaf with less than 100 now seems inadequate - even though most journeys are considerably less than even this.

    I’ve had the e2008 since April with a range of 219 miles. Remember that you need to charge it when it has around 50 miles left which is 20%. That takes your range to 169 before you start looking for a charger. Also there are no air vents at the back, apart from that we love the car.

    It's a steal in Sweden. 346 GBP a month, for an 12 month leasing contract. That is with the GT trim and insurance included (same insurance price for everyone, Crazy Peugeot offer)
    That is near impossible to compete with over here.

It reminds me of the way race car drivers do this on the track (and while in the pits, when they push the reset button on their steering wheel) and I use it on my Honda CR-V quite a bit.
    This electric has the same problem that many others have - expense. 35,000 Pounds (I think it's around $50K in U.S. dollars) is cost prohibitive for most people who may think of getting one (myself included).On a lighter note...love the dress, Tish. :)

    I unfortunately have a late 2020 GT, top spec at the time, and 50Kw, whether they have claimed to squeeze out 18 more miles than mine at 200 miles, is in real terms NOWHERE NEAR that! I know, I have one! Stellantis have also made the 'new' one as disappointingly boring as the last. They need to ditch this "let's convert our ICE models into electric" because it just doesn't work! Mine has been a pleasure to drive, boring although, but you just cannot go far enough in this car without the dreaded "where do I charge problem", which I had 2 months ago, on a 200 mile round-trip journey. I won't go into that nightmare here. Can't wait to ditch my GT for another brand. Never buying a pue!geot again.

  • @DisturbedM86
    @DisturbedM86 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Each to their own of course, but what I've found is any other car that has better range or is cheaper is pretty terrible in comparison to the inside of the car. I know a cars made for driving but I like a good looking car in and out. Been looking for months, had one on order (new) but cancelled, then ended up buying one anyway that I get next week. C4 interior is terrible in comparison, got tempted by a MG5 Trophy but it ain't an SUV and having seen it IRL, the quality is down-market.
    The price could do with a slight drop but the exterior and interior look put it's right at the top. I tried to get one of the other SUV evs around the £30k mark but just couldn't bring myself to give up the e-2008 so compromised by getting a 2021 GT nearly new instead to keep price down. (£30k 8k miles ex demo)
    My biggest concern is the range will undoubtedly end up being considered poor over the next 5 years I'll own it, but then again I can always hand it back.

    The problem with those tyres is, a lower rolling resistance will mean overall a reduced grip. This will mean you are relying more on the traction control and ABS, as well as cornering ability is reduced. Some will say otherwise, but laws of physics cannot work both ways at the same time. The e-2008 is not a bad looking car and happy with the performance figures. Is it compromised in design due to it also being petrol and diesel?

    • @IanMcc1000
      @IanMcc1000 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All I can say is the e208 is great. I have the 2021 spec and it easily does 4mi/kWh in mixed driving, 3.5 in this really hot weather. I wouldn't have even considered Peugot because my work van is a Pug and I can't stand it. Yes the range is bit small compared the newest cars, but these are well built and drive well. The GT spec and above have tons of kit. The only compromise you will find is less storage compared to a dedicated EV (and a slightly crap UI and app). I don't think you will find any issues with TC or ABS in normal driving in town or B roads, regen takes care of braking and cornering is different because the weight shift under deceleration is slight and predictable. I've not tried the 2008, but you wouldn't be buying it to throw around corners.

      @@wayneheyes904 There's plenty of 300 mile cars coming in the next few months for a similar price, however the old one is cheaper than pretty much anything except the leaf and MG. People doing 60 miles a day are probably paying £200-250 on fuel per month as opposed to about £65 to charge at home. It's all a case of balance and seeing if you can make it work. The fuel saving pretty much pays for the car over 10 years.

    The chromed part on the back bumper isn’t chrome at all. It’s painted and can get scratched badly. I found out the hard way…
    The so called “top spec model” does have a armrest in the back. 6ft people sit just fine in the back but there is no room for an other seating position if your bum is getting numb. A totally other story sitting behind the wheel! As a 6ft person I fit nicely behind the wheel but the seats are just to short and gives you zero support. All the pressure downwards while sitting in these seats is on your cheeks and after 1,5 hours mine does go numb. These seats being very small makes you have little room to move around and difficult to find some needed relieve.
    The gloss black doesn’t scratch at all. I got 30 k mls on mine, not a single scratch. Just use a damp microfiber cloth and the scratch you thing there is, appears to be dirt.
    The efficiency settings are in the dashboard love. You’re looking at the wrong screen. Use the scroller at the wheel and you’ll get there.
    The longest trip we made with it was from Amsterdam to Paris (and back of course) and afterwards I feel that this is the maximum distance (and travel time) that I can endure in this care because of these seats. The three times we had to stop for charging were very much welkom!
