We love seeing streamers showcasing their collections, there are already some on Twitch that stream with the GB Operator. And we pop in to say hi and answer questions live as often as we can 😉.
We are thinking about making an N64 Operator in the future, but still need time to work on validating the idea first. There have been requests for it though and it seems like a popular option!
stupid question here, but how does one get into the homebrew scene for gbc/gba? I saw some homebrew carts in this vid, but have no idea where to actually find them.
Do the original saves on cartridges work on this emulator? Do the saves you made using retrododo work on the original Game Boy? I have Final Fantasy VI for GBA. And I play it on the original Nintendo DS. Can I use retrododo to progress in the game?
This is very cool and interesting. I don’t have much use for it so I don’t think I’ll get it but I really like the idea of a friendly consolized rom dumper, that’s very cool. I like it.
I love the Rumble feature. I took Legend of the River King 2 for Gameboy Color and ran it through the Gameboy ROM Analyzer for Windows and changed the cartridge type to 1EH and fixed the header. Rumble was programmed into the Japanese version and just needs to be opened on the English version. I am playing with the USB Smartcard right now but plan on getting a Flash cartridge from ETSY that saves without a battery. Nushi Tsuri Adventure-Kite no Bouken English patch also has Rumble. Great fishing games. All you need is to set the options on the GB Operator and have a Rumble controller.
This looks fantastic hope the snes one is as good. I am hoping thats the make more like this for more retro games systems as rom dumpers are hard to come by but this as a added bonus as well
I like it, this thing is so simplictic. And most of all it dosnt take up any space. Thanks for a real informative video 👍🏾🔥
a bit expensive at $50 but with how good everything is, it seems perfect the only thing that's bad is that the led is a bit bright which is kind of nitpicky coming from a small company I'm surprised how well it is
We'll release an update very soon that allows you to turn off the LED and later on we'll make it dimmable. Indeed, it's very bright lol, sorry for that!
Who needs emulators anymore when you got this cool piece of equipment. The way it finds if it's real or not is incredible since it's so damn hard on spotting a good fake
But you're still using an emulator on your PC with this device. It's not different than downloading mGBA (the emulator this comes with) on its own and playing the ROM. I'm not trying to hate on this device. It's definitely cool for people who like to switch between playing on their handhelds and a PC while keeping progress, plus those additional features like save dumping and fake detection are great. But some people don't seem to understand that this is basically just a ROM dumper which plays your games through an emulator on your PC.
@@symphony137 yeah though it keeps the saves on the cartridge right so it can be played in the emulator too so that's the bonus of using this if it does
I just ordered one the other day. Needing to backup my original Pokemon Blue and Silver saves. Original battery has been kicking since original release, but I am sure probably not for much longer...
I know this is a long shot: Every game I put in this, including repro games, work just fine. All except the newer repro carts of Mother 3. I'm wondering why this is the case. It just doesn't show up. I played it and beat it just fine. Literally any other game shows up on the GB Operator, except Mother 3. If anyone knows anything, please let me know.
For NES, check out the USB-NES. Supports NTSC, PAL, Famicom, and many more. Can also read/write battery backed saves. DIY kits and pre-built models are available on eBay.
Yes, that's possible. You can do this in a separate function within the app (the 'Upload Save' one), or after you finish playing in the in-app emulator, select to write save back to cart when you're asked right before exiting the emulator.
@@JizzSock_ Well.. It can double for a backup for saves. In my opinion that would be the only reason I would need it for. I already have two Retron 5 systems and a handful of memory manager cartridges that do allow backing up saves that I can copy to my PC. But yeah. The value doesn't really persuade me to go out and buy one myself. It's just another item for people who wish to enjoy their physical games on a computer.
Ur loading Files and connecting a camera piece Ur using the file to edit save and farm etc After inventory done you play star dew valley and call it a day
Good idea but if you can't connect it to a TV, HDTV or 4K TV why buy it?!! It just connects to your PC just to save and copy games that you can download the Roms on other websites.
Damm, i would love it if for a future project they'd make a custom case for this to connect directly to a raspberry pi while keeping a clean retro console look.
This isn't new but man this is the cheapest I have ever seen one. I don't have any save games I really want to preserve like I do on SNES and Genesis but I'll probably still get one.
The most underrated feature is that this allows you to write onto blank cartridges. Holy moly!!!! That means you could get aliexpress cartridges for like $2/piece and put whatever you want on there.
@@zengwenxin8402 Yes, it has. But always with caveats. For one, the cost is about the same as this (maybe $10-15 cheaper), and you have to rely on a command line interface. This has an amazing UI, and really makes the concept mainstream.
Anyone know how to use the GB Operator saves in handheld emulators? I just stuck the files in the ROM folders next to the ROM files as I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with them. The emulators don't seem to pick up the saves. But I would really like to pick up from where I left off on the Gameboys carts to the emulating Chinese handhelds.
Yes, you can keep all of your saves on your computer for backup. And then write them back to the cartridge whenever you want. Useful when you're replacing the battery, no risk of losing your save.
So is this equal, better, or just different to something like say.. The Flash Boy? Because my main reason for looking at something like this or the Flashboy, is to 1) back up my old data, for posterity. 2) use the save data to potentially transfer old Pokemon to Ds to try and get them into home. This product is around the same price. though the Flashboy doesn't let me play the roms on a nice Pre set OS Emulator system. This seems like the better buy potentially, especially if it can utilize the save data for mon drops.

We love seeing streamers showcasing their collections, there are already some on Twitch that stream with the GB Operator. And we pop in to say hi and answer questions live as often as we can 😉.
I love game boy games and this is a must have, I definitely want one. Now, if we could just get one of these for N64 carts!
Look up the Retrode 2. Stone Age Gamer carries them in the USA.
@@MrShadow2x Yes, that's nice and all but it's no longer available or in stock!
@@jonathonearl482 Check with them from time to time. It gets restocked fairly often.
We are thinking about making an N64 Operator in the future, but still need time to work on validating the idea first. There have been requests for it though and it seems like a popular option!
Pretty neat , now get one of those old netbooks , double tape this on the top and you can have a 10" ips over the head GBA haha
stupid question here, but how does one get into the homebrew scene for gbc/gba?
I am hoping thats the make more like this for more retro games systems as rom dumpers are hard to come by but this as a added bonus as well
Check out the Retrode 2. Stone Age Gamer carries them in the USA.
@@MrShadow2x I have seen them before but I colud not remember what they was called to find then thank you
I like it, this thing is so simplictic. And most of all it dosnt take up any space. Wait it and tell you if a games fake🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 needed right about now, because there are so many counterfeits floating out there. I might just do this one. The flexibility on this is awesome. Thanks for a real informative video 👍🏾🔥
Like everything else in the gaming world: Out of Stock
Whats about trading pokemon between two games or fights via link cable?
a bit expensive at $50 but with how good everything is, it seems perfect the only thing that's bad is that the led is a bit bright which is kind of nitpicky coming from a small company I'm surprised how well it is
We'll release an update very soon that allows you to turn off the LED and later on we'll make it dimmable.
This will be perfect for you.
Fantastic Idea, i hope it gets all of the attention it deserves.
Thank you for the kind comment! 🙏🏻
Really cool, Kinda like the Hyperkin one for android phones
Will it play those GBA movie cartridges?
I wonder if they can take this to the next level and add link cable compatibility.
I know this is a long shot:
Every game I put in this, including repro games, work just fine.
All except the newer repro carts of Mother 3. I'm wondering why this is the case. It just doesn't show up. I played it and beat it just fine. Literally any other game shows up on the GB Operator, except Mother 3.
If anyone knows anything, please let me know.
Can it still run the bootleg games anyways? Old Pokémon games are expensive, and so I'm looking for an alternative at this point.
I preordered this so fast, I'm hyped, I can wait to play metroid zero mission and Fusion on a big screen.
We saw a Twitch streamer yesterday playing Metroid Fusion using the GB Operator, it looked siiiiick!!
This is awesome! I am going to have to pick up one of these!
Purchased this before the video was even half done.
Lucky you, you got in on the first batch.
Does it work with all regions? Sounds like a neat device. I would be interested to see a N64 version too.
Yes, it does! It's not region-locked or anything.
I wish the could make a dive for consoles like the NES/SNES/Famicom/SFC, N64, VirtualBoy, Game gear/Megadrive/Genesis, Atari etc
Look up the Retrode 2 on Stone Age Gamer.
For NES, check out the USB-NES. Supports NTSC, PAL, Famicom, and many more. Can also read/write battery backed saves. DIY kits and pre-built models are available on eBay.
Can you put the backup save back onto the cartridge?
Yes, that's possible. You can do this in a separate function within the app (the 'Upload Save' one), or after you finish playing in the in-app emulator, select to write save back to cart when you're asked right before exiting the emulator.
I wouldn't mind buying this, but I gave up playing portables on my PC. It would be a great secondary save utility and that's all I would use it for.
Wow, amazing!!
Were going to get some good quality roms from this
Can you use this to stream the gameplay live as well on twitch or TH-cam?
Yes, just setup an OBS window over the Operator app and you're good to go. There are already Twitch streamers using it to play Game Boy titles.
Man I never even owned a gb but it is awesome how many ways people can play older games now.
Ur loading
Files and connecting a camera piece
Ur using the file to edit save and farm etc
After inventory done you play star dew valley and call it a day
Good idea but if you can't connect it to a TV, HDTV or 4K TV why buy it?!! It just connects to your PC just to save and copy games that you can download the Roms on other websites.
Should label this as a game authentication tool that also happens to play the game!
Anyone know if you could rip your save file and then put it on an RG350? I'd LOVE to be able to bring back my old team from my Pokemon FR save
Dude this function has been available for years on those cartridge dumpers.
@@zengwenxin8402 Yes, it has. But always with caveats. For one, the cost is about the same as this (maybe $10-15 cheaper), and you have to rely on a command line interface. This has an amazing UI, and really makes the concept mainstream.
Just ordered mine
Nice on Nelson!
I love the older Microsoft logo in the thumbnail.
dude ima get this hopefully they make a ds verson
Anyone know how to use the GB Operator saves in handheld emulators? I just stuck the files in the ROM folders next to the ROM files as I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with them. The emulators don't seem to pick up the saves. But I would really like to pick up from where I left off on the Gameboys carts to the emulating Chinese handhelds.
This looks solid. If I were into Nintendo gaming I would get this device.
This is really cool!
This actually looks great!
So I can export saves from GB/GBC games, like Pokémon GSC, to make a backup? Rlly?!?
Yes, you can keep all of your saves on your computer for backup. And then write them back to the cartridge whenever you want. Useful when you're replacing the battery, no risk of losing your save.
So is this equal, better, or just different to something like say.. The Flash Boy?
Because my main reason for looking at something like this or the Flashboy, is to
1) back up my old data, for posterity.
Why not add AV to TV and a power adapter plus 2 usb controller slots
I want a sata adapter for this so I can install it into my pc's shell
You could get a SATA to USB adapter and plug it in that way
@@Parasnailor but will that work in the opposite direction? its the like the equivalent of plugging a thumb drive into a sata port but with a gameboy cart loader instead
its not using the cart as an external sata device but more like using it like a hot swap hard drive bay
@@Yami_Industries I think I misunderstood what that device is for. Sorry!
@@Parasnailor you didn't misunderstand anything lol I just want to modify it to be used as a cart loader like a console like the switch or gameboy color lol, yes I could hook it up via usb and have a dongle attached wherever I go or I can somehow have it built in lol
I’m on iMac and I use OBS. I have an overlay and the game showing up. But how do I capture the audio when the Epilouge Operator has no audio Jack ?
Can you do a one year later review of the GB Operator?
Do you know when they will restock them anytime soon?
We'll accept orders again on Sunday, September 5th, at 9AM PDT. Delivery in late November/early December.
Yooo, this would be super useful for Gen 3 Shiny Hunting
is there linking support between 2 instances of the emulator? would love to utilize this to add e-reader levels we never got here to Mario advance 4.
