There isn't a negative thing that can be said about MB the saxophonist and the human being. This is an illustration of complete mastery of the instrument. Perfect intonation to begin with, which now days there is a gross shortage of. Incredible sound, control, imagination, feel...the most complete saxophonist. This video, in and of itself, could be a life long lesson for any saxophonist striving for greatness in terms of understanding how high the bar can be set. But rest assured, his playing was a reflection of the human being he was. He was the epitome of humility, kindness and compassion. RIP Michael...
Without a doubt the consumate saxophone player . Sheer total command of the instrument. His Mark VII Selmer is the most cumbersome to play, but in his hands magic. Saw him do Delta City blues twice once in a very intimate jazz club in Houston, and once with U of H . A privilege beyond compare. However this version left me agog. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Extraordinary!! So much to hear and be inspired by. Beyond any words of mine tbh. This concert will be on repeat for the foreseeable future….. thankyou you Michael, in the heaven of love and creativity❤️

And his practice sessions were legendary - up to 8 hours a day, because everybody was trying to cop his sound

Actually not at all cumbersome. The keywork is really really easy to play and ergonomical.
Such a GIANT… AMAZING ❤
The man was so humble....and clearly a master
Absolutely incredible.
Absolutely brilliant!
so good. watched it all
So good he doesn’t need a band
I only could attend one of his concerts. No other tenor sax had impress me so much since Sonny Rollins.
Only such a great sax player can do concert solo as he did.

One and only
Quand je me dis que j’aurais pu le voir ce soir là…
18:45 🤯 genius run, definitely a pattern I'm going to try to learn
Good
That reed needs a cigarette.
Every once in a while it feels good to get harmonically smoked . It tastes good on the tongue and throat. 😂
