  • Some comments are made regarding build quality on this #Swift caravan, we're not too impressed when looking behind the scenes.
    Why did we need a USB port next to the radio? To power a #Netgear Aircard 810s portable router - this one has a battery, but no storage (which would be handy now that we vlog).
    Watch to the end of you’d like to see a little more on the Netgear Aircard router.
    An AVO Multimeter is used in this video - it's a handy bit of vintage testing equipment. I got the pronunciation wrong here, it is “Ay Vo” instead of “A-Vo”
    Let's hope we deal with the pesky fly that's been tripping the PIR sensor and keeping us awake at night!
    Shot on iPhone XS Max with Filmic Pro software. Edited in Premiere Pro.

    We hope you enjoy watching as much as we enjoyed creating this video.

      The bit that makes it easier is the piggy back spade connectors. Think I’ll have to try the ‘strap the GoPro to your head’ approach for when three hands are useful, just sorry I didn’t capture that. Hope it was useful. Pete & Kaz.

    Excellent video, I had a bit of trouble hearing at times, with the background music. I might of been having a senior moment though.
    These type of videos are very much appreciated, thanks.

      Hi there. Glad it was useful. This was one of our earlier videos - I think (hope) we are getting a bit better with the sound for our current videos. Pete 👍👍👍😀😀😀

      Hello Nicola. Glad that it’s useful. We love to hear that 😀😀😀😀. We have another video ‘our caravan technology’ that shows more USB socket hints. Thanks for watching and commenting, Pete & Kaz

    You can never have too many USB ports. We need to add a few more to our RV. Great video and thanks for sharing!

      Thanks Gaz. I like to find the easiest option. If you don’t have to remove the cage for the radio, why should you 😉. Appreciate you watching and commenting, Pete 😀😀👍👍

      Hi Colin. Welcome to our channel :). We’ve been subscribers of yours for a while. Glad you enjoyed the content. We’d also had the parts and wanted to do the usb for some time. A man of your skills should find this job straightforward. Pete & Kaz.

    We have those directional lights, we love them. Nice tutorial. Great job. HOWDY from Texas

      Hello from Somerset, England. Glad you enjoy the video. The usual USB solution is to replace the directional lights with lights with USB sockets in the base, this didn’t suit us, can’t be dealing with dangly cables...

      @@CraftyCampervanners I am very picky in our RV...I always say I don't want it looking like a garage sale. So dangly cables are no for me also

    Nice neat job! I have got some more usb sockets to put in myself. Just need to decide where exactly to put them, and wait until the boss goes out so she doesn't stress when I pull out wires. lol.

      Thank you ! My next trick with USB may involve something a bit more ambitious with the wiring. No handy light to piggy back off where they are intended. It could be more difficult, but we don’t want dangly USB wires in our caravan.

    We added a switch to each of ours so we could "switch" of the lights. Take care and stay safe.

      A good idea. This particular one is in a cupboard, the other ones got the sticky back plastic treatment as we use them to charge devices overnight.

    If you flip the little door on the right hand side of the radio front, you shall find a USB socket there.

    • @CraftyCampervanners
      @CraftyCampervanners  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Clifton. Yes, the radio has a socket. Didn’t think of trying it out. I don’t think the radio has been switched on for more than five mins since we bought the van (& it would need to be on to charge). Good point, and glad for another USB-A charger, there never seem to be enough. Pete & Kaz 😀👍😀👍

    That's something we need to get done in our old Lunar, as well as putting LED lights in!

    • @CraftyCampervanners
      @CraftyCampervanners  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a reasonably straightforward job to replace the incandescent lights with LEDs. Up to you if go for the lights with integrated USB or to wire in an additional socket like we did. Down to personal preference.

    • @apgdigitalmedia472
      @apgdigitalmedia472 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CraftyCampervanners probably easier to go with the integrated usb I think, would be a perfect time to get things done if we could actually get to the caravan 😢
