    The hours, including the one hour lunch, and overtime pay sound great. Ever since I left the Marine Corps I've been working factory jobs, and factories, at least in Michigan, always find a way to force more work out of you in less time and for less pay so they can avoid paying overtime. Besides, I miss the sea.

      If you successfully managed the Corp... MSC will be easy days. What was your MOS?

    99% of the public would think you meant Import Duty, but Mariners know 'Inport Duty' is something totally different. Thanks for what you do. To me the roughest part of MSC are the long hitches. I don't know why they do that when great mariners with families would be interested with shorter hitches. Oh well.

      If you become a officer. Yes. But for the most part, other than storing and working with the transferring to the Navy, not really.

    Hi, Great Channel! How much O.T. are the AB (W) getting these days...on an unrep ship? Compared to AB (M) on the same ship?

  • @CrimevsJustice

    Should I just stick with AB until I have 1080 days at sea to become a 3rd officer

    Thanks for the helpful videos! Quick question: I've heard rumors that MSC might offer pay raises for having a master's degree, even beyond what the job description mentions. Can you confirm if this is true? Also, is it possible to qualify for a raise by pursuing a master's degree online while working with MSC? Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

    • @thewanderingmariner
      @thewanderingmariner  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not that I know of. I know they pay additional for holding a Masters License..... but not a degree.

      @@thewanderingmariner I’m a AB Domestic, but will shorty have my Able Seafarer Deck endorsement. I’m at around $26 hourly at current gig on the Great Lakes. Just trying to see if it’s worth the transition for base pay hourly at MSC. Thanks a lot for your helpful videos!

    Waiting on a call from the Recruiter. (Requested a call.). QMED A-SE RFPEW VPDSD Lifeboatman/ PSC. Application is only waiting on Fed Referral Letter SF-50(?). If they are desperate where is the call? Still paying a bonus for sign on at this time.

      1. It's the government (That will make more sense later)
      2. They are not desperate.... recruiters get paid the same no matter.
      Thanks for sharing and the best of luck.
