    My Appraciation:
    You nailed it bro. Other TH-camrs go for a Quick Click Bait solutions thinking the issue is a cooling switch. You had helped me diagnosed the real issue and learn more about the cooling system electrical network. A multimeter is also helpful to diagnose this issue. Most people think a Radiator Fan Module function is to only control the Speed of the Fan Motor not realizing that the Module is an On/Off Switch that can stuck on an On or Close function like a relay.
    My Opinion:
    Some electrical fan are actual controlled by a relay and ECU, while modern generational cars uses a cooling sensor, ECU, Thermostat with a electrical sensor and Fan Module to perform the work. Best cars are the ones which Utilizes the Manual Fan mounted on the engine. This electrical fans are unrealiable and none durable at best. Are caused of majority of engines overheating due to their malfucntioning tendency and overcomplex ssystem that makes no sense. Straight engines should not use electrical fans and cooling sensors. An engine only need a radiator, fan and thermostat. Modern day enginners don't create solutions but problems in their quest to innovate the old trial and tested inventions. The automotive car industry went from cast iron material to aluminium and now they settled to cheap plastic foil cars. It is crazy what shareholders can do. Good luck car owners who are forced to became part-time mechanic because to garbage quality...Nxm

    What a helpful video.
    Your explanations made a complex system of interconnected parts seem simple, even for an amateur like me. Your logic to eliminate the sensor and computer was both particularly brilliant and made the whole system finally make sense.
    My car's accessory fan undergoing a similar malfunction suddenly seems solvable. It's not quite as simple to access as the main cooling fan, but I'm feeling ambitious now.
    Thank you.

    Good afternoon, very good video, my car is a 2001 Volov V70, the fan turns on when the ignition is on or when I start the car, even when the car is cold, when I turn off the car the fan turns off. Before watching your video I bought a second fan complete with its module and the same failure continued.
    If I do like your video and unplug the purple cable, the fan turns off, but if I plug it back in it turns the fan on at a low speed.
    In this case what is the fault?

    Good afternoon, I watched your video, my Volvo V70XC 2001 turbo, my fan has a fault.
    When the car is cold, I turn the ignition ON or start the car, the fan turns on at a low speed. When I turn off the car the fan turns off. But when you turn it on or turn it on, whether hot or cold, the fan turns on and stays that way until you turn off the car.
    Before watching your video, I bought another fan complete with its module and the same failure.
    I did the test in your video and disconnected the harness with the cable alone, the color violet and the fan turns off, the two fans that I now have complete with its module turn off.
    Disconnect the temperature sensor harness and it indicates -40 degrees Celsius, but the fan stays on, does not turn off,
    What could be the fault?
    What do I need to validate to be able to solve it.
    Kind regards

    Some confusion ( but I will watch again), #1 is the fan controller just a relay ? #2 how does the violet wire control the fan, what does it do other than just brining a signal from the computer ? Is it really a controller? Is there a resistance in the wire or connector that makes it a 'controller wire' ? #3 doesn't the computer need to first receive a signal from a sensor ( like the coolant temp sensor?) before it sends a signal, to the fan controller, right ? This is all new to me but I am having issues with Ram PM Van 3.6L gas and can not afford how have someone fix it. I am seeing people say $1,500 and a lot more for maybe a bad wire, relay, module or the like, that I could possibly fix myself for a few hundred or less. Thanks !!

    • @tubetime39
      @tubetime39 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If i can learn enough that I could help others fix their vehicles also that can not afford to take some place, that would be a huge plus for me ( not for my ego, but doing something we all should be doing, helping others). My added 2 cents.

    • @KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair
      @KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wondering Why on this model, the fan module is part of the fan assembly, the ECM receives the input from the ECT then sends a command to the fan module to turn on the fan! but some fans are just controlled by relays! you need to find out how your fan is controlled!!

    Hi! I have a 2011 Ford Taurus SEL and i’ve been having the same issue where my fan stays on until battery dies, I replaced the Temp Sensor and also the Thermostat.
    It seemed fine, the fan would turn off and wouldn’t be Stuck On but last night it wouldn’t turn off! Though I only waited about 5-7minutes but PTSD made me disconnect the battery so I wouldn’t need a jump lol
    My point is that it’s still turning on and off which might mean it’s not the module being shorted, two parts were replaced but last night 5-7min stuck on even after engine was off was frightening, do you think it could be anything else? or perhaps it was just a false scare

    Hi, Recently my Mazda 3 2011 had a similar problem with the fan staying on for about 2~5 min after engine off.
    Sometimes only a short distance within 10KM was driven, and the fan was still on after the engine was turned off.
    so don't think that overheating of the engine requires a fan to cool down.
    In your experience, think it is a fan control module problem, thermostat problem or coolant temperature sensor problem?

    Hey guys I have this same issue, but what seems to work is I will just keep the car running so the battery won’t die, and the fan will usually turn off after 20 or 30 minutes. Does this mean there’s a problem with the relay or the fan itself?

    Hey boss, I have a 2012 Ford Focus SE that had a problem with the fan staying on for about 10 minutes after shutting the car off. It would kick on when I opened my front doors and kick back off if I didn’t start it.
    The other day my fan stopped working at all, so do you think the fan motor could’ve just burned out from running so much? I’m getting ready to trade in the car soon anyways, so I just need the fan to at least work and keep the car cool. I should be able to just buy the fan and replace that part hopefully right?

    Hey man, I just bought a brand new cooling fan to replace the broken one but I’m worried what I just bought is not working. After installing the new fan, how do you know if the newly installed one is working? I try to idle or drive the engine so the temp guage would go past halfway the mark but it never goes past the half mark of the guage and I never hear the fan turn on. How do you test the fan? I’m asking because I only have 30 days to return it if it’s defective. Thanks
