As an INTP, i also noticed that there is a difference in the way we utilize introverted sensing... an INTP would 'store' a lot of trivia bits, even those that we dont see the practical use. Or remember how a map would translate to real-world scenario of streets, direction of where the north lies, and what the best route would be. (Maybe this is a Ti-Si mental interaction.) I think my INFP friends don't do that. (I honestly dont know what they use their Si for. 😅)

This is a really great video explaining the main differences between INTP and INFP.
I'm INTP and my mom is INFP. Our Ne and Si make us have a lot in common in that we are very much information gatherers, day dreamers often in our heads with lots of ideas (Ne). As long as we're on a topic we're both interested in, we can talk for a very long time.
Si makes us have a lot in common, but Si as a third function can come out differently in different people. We are both sentimental and we both have the desire for our external worlds to have a certain order from our personal perspective, but the way I think things should be (or where things should go, etc) and the way my mom thinks things should be (or where they should go) may be different. Also the reasons for why we think something should be a certain way will be different. And a Ti person will probably be able to have an easier time giving those reasons than an Fi person who might just say, "because that's just how it should be" or, "That's just where it goes."
    Differences:
My mom gets annoyed with me when I correct something that she thinks doesn't matter. For instance, when we are watching a movie together and I say, "That would never happen in real life," she says, "It's just a movie!"
I get annoyed with her when I'm talking about a topic that really interests me and she loses her attention span and changes the topic to something she'd rather talk about.
One of the main differences between Ti and Fi people that I have noticed in people is that most people with high Fi very rarely do anything they don't want to do. They seem to have stronger boundaries, because they know what they like and what they don't like. They know what they're willing to do and not do. Their values trump everything else.
Since INTPs have Fe, even though it's inferior, we will do things we don't want to do in certain situations. Like what was stated in the video, we don't want to cause problems with people we have relationships with. Fe is the thing that gives me personally the most stress by FAR. People with higher Fe are better at it, and for people with much lower Fe, it's just not that important to them.
If you ask an Fi person what they value, they might not be able to word it, but they will be able to easily tell you what they like and don't like. If you ask an Fi person why they value something, they will often say something like, "I don't know, I just do." A Ti person will have a harder time even knowing whether or not they have any values at all. And if they do come up with some, they will have reasons for every single thing that they like or don't like.
Of course, with a lot of inner work and awareness, etc, an Fi person can come to learn why they value what they value, and a Ti person can come to figure out what they like and don't like.
It is possible for an Fi person to come to a place where they are willing to compromise a bit more in relationships, just as it is possible for a Ti person to come to a place where they are willing to put their foot down about certain things.
That is my take at least. Take what you like and leave the rest.

same with my son, i think i'm intp and he is infp.a lot in common, and daydreamings we have common interest but i can be annoyed and he can be easily upset more than me but we can surprise each other and our unconditionnal love is the bond

I have to say, all the other INFP vs INTP videos never really clicked for me, I could always see myself in both types. But your video really hit the nail on the head for me. I tried to think about what my values are, and to be honest, I have no idea and I also really don't care much. This really makes it much more clear for me.

I don’t know how to tell Fi and Ti apart because Fi can be anything. Fi dom people can highly value logic and be seen as a logical and highly rational person (also considering the fact that Fi doesn’t process emotions outwardly most of the time)

I could be wrong, but I think even an INFP that values logic will fall back on expert opinions more than an INTP. Fi isn't some chameleon function that can do anything. It values anything. Actually doing it properly is different.

Organizing your whole life around logic is a different thing (speaking as INTP). I have Feelers in my life who provide tension against that and I am generally more normal for it (am I better for it? I feel some of my potential has been squandered, but I think going it alone would make me an unhealthy hermit so one must consider their highest ambitions may be sometimes bad for them in the long run)

Thanks for this video! I thought that I'm an INFP, but I was sure that I have Fe, not Fi, cause my Fe affects me very much, so I identified myself as a Fe - Ti - Ne - Si person, who doesn't exist. But now I understand that I'm an INTP, because my Fe is my vulnerability.

According to studies INTP's are most likely enneagram type 5w4's where INFP's are normally the 4w5.. yet INFP's can be nines, even sixes, even fives, but most of them score as fours, especially 4w5's where INTP's say their most common enneagram type is 5w4, yet I score right in between INTP and INFP everytime I take the Myers Briggs test, and when I listen to fives and fours I relate to them both almost just as fully but I think I lean more to five.. so yeah.. INTP I think fits me best but still I relate to the INFP quite a lot as well

Same. Because i feel like there's something important missing in me, the core fear of an enneagram 4, i thiiink i lean more towards a 4w5, but relate to enneagram 5 memes and the fear of not being adequate. I think i lean a touch more to intp, but just say im an intp/infp bc i cant say for sure. 🤷‍♀️ You can be any enneagram mix, but lots of ppl misunderstand the 4 and say thinkers cant be 4s, and thats just wrong.

I strugle with knowing my type for sure and a lot of videos comparing intp and infp don't help because I can't even tell how these traits and differences apply to me. But after your video I think I'm more intp because I'm bad at decision making and it takes me a long time to be 100% sure about something. I'm also uncertain about what values are important to me besides the very basic: don't harm others and be my aunthentic self. I don't have any big dreams and aspirations in life and when I was a child I didn't even have a dream career.

Hi. Idk how to start this.
I just found out last month about the 16 personalities types so I'm very new about it.
But still, I got very interested on it.
I did the test twice and I got INFJ twice.
I readed and watched descriptions about this type and I identify with it in everything.
But as I was checking more about INFJ videos and info, I also was checking other personality types.
And I found out I identified myself a lot too with the INTP, INFP and INTJ ones.
Thus, I found out atleast that I am an INxx.
So I decided to check videos about these types about specific topics and definitions and noted down the ones I identified myself the most(that was yesterday evening, so I'm still working on it).
    The results were:
    INFJ lllll
    INTP llll
    INFP llll
    INTJ ll
(I'll continue to compair and learn more about functions and stuffs as I'm totally new at this)
    But the sum up is:
I identify myself a lot with INFJ and INTJ, and sometimes with INFP.
Years ago I would identify myself between INFJ and INFP. And I'd still probably stay between those if this world weren't so cruel...
    But S* happens Ig..
And curiously when yesterday I found out I was between those 3, You made this video about INTP vs INFP xD
    Fate(?).
(And sorry if this is too long or if I did some mistake, English is not my native language)
Anyways, great channel. I subscribed days ago. Everything well explained.
But I'm still a noob at this xD
I hope to learn more about MBTI and find out about my exact personality type.
And good luck with your channel🌼

About values, if you asked me 2 years ago if i had values, i would tell you i have no idea. I didn't even know what a value is. But then i noticed that I valued logic and time. I believe i value these things unconsciously. Inefficiency triggers me so badly. So badly. You wouldn't know. Because of how much i value my time.

As an INTP, I don't usually absorb the values of people around me. It depends on the value. If it makes sense then maybe I absorb it. If not then I don't. Most of the time, I don't. Basically Ti comes first.

Purpose in/of life. This is an interesting topic.
As an INTP, I really don't know what I want in life. And someone/external world has to inform me about it.
One time I was asked about my "purpose" in life. I said I don't know. That time I thought it had to be given by God (I am a God believer), until a discussion with an INTJ about this topic. The INTJ told me that basically, "You create your purpose in life."
Whereas I thought that purpose in life must come externally, an Fi person thinks that the purpose in life must be created inwardly. We create our own paths. We choose our own paths.
That was a sound discussion. I think that's what having inferior Fe does to a person. They need to be informed by the external world about things like life's purpose and its meaning, and other moral codes/moral establishments.

  • @bananian
    @bananian 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

I don't see how logic and value are mutually exclusive.
Most of the time, we naturally come to the conclusion that something's are right or wrong from logic. Hurting animals for pleasure is wrong. Therefore, hunting and eating animals is wrong.
Invading a country is wrong. Russia is invading Ukraine. Therefore, Russia is wrong.
In fact, I think logic is a critical part of having any values. How would you defend your position without any logic?
I guess feeling would be people post hoc justifying why eating meat is okay even though their logic make no sense. Or that Ukraine is somehow wrong for defending itself. But that would mean infp would tend to be trumpers and conservatives. And I feel that wouldn't be the case. 😅

Would you say it's a growth path for an INTP (or any type) to try to work on making their inferior more conscious?
My own INFJ in my life is trying to help me outline my own values but it sure seems like I simply can't think the way she is suggesting. When I try to, I start to explain what I assume are my values, and she'll say I'm using logic still, etc lol. I'm 32 and I would say I didn't even understand what a value IS until 30, after a crapton if mental health research. It still seems a little funny to, like, just PICK something for no reason (besides simply liking it somehow) but at least now I understand why someone would.
I literally do not understand how else to live.
