Enjoyed this 3-part series. All I can think of is that old physics rule about 'every action has an opposite and equal reaction'. Don't think that's the case with body work--it seems like you expend at least 4x the energy that caused the dent to get it back into shape! Awesome skills.
Thanks again for posting Kyle loved seeing what looked like a bag of walnut's come back into to its proper shape.I find it amazing that you can rearrange so much metal without having to shrink anything .I suppose if everything goes back to the correct place you don't have to . Can't wait for the front of the guard.
Thanks Peter. To be fair I did have to do some shrinks on this one off camera, not because of the original damage, but because of the damage that was done by the previous crafstmans repair.
Another great classic fender ruined. Jeez, man. You never cease to amaze me. You better hold onto that straw, the paper ones taste like cardboard. Plastic was supposed to save trees.
That's a lot of Slapping,Filing,Sanding,Banging,Flipping,Swearing,Sweating,Cussing,Pounding! did I miss anything? but you got there in the end. patience is a virtue.
Incredible! If you were a plastic surgeon, seventh-decade me would enter your clinic in the morning and leave later that day as a third-decade Clint Eastwood. I watch and still say, “How???”
Reversing the results of many many years of abuse, toil and strife by adding many many hours of additional toil and strife. Is that reverse entropy? Your work is nothing short of amazing.
Previous repair by headlight reminds of making an ashtray out of a sheet of copper with a ballpeen hammer. Cats earlier in the video is a nice touch! Another fine repair!!
Great work. Just watched 3 of your fender repair videos. You made a comment about never getting to a million views like video gamers... what you are doing is adding value to the world.. can't say the same for video gamers. I love to see every piece of old metal saved for the future!
You're not on fire! You have either expanded the fire extinguisher budget or blown the clothing one. I love those pre-Bondo repairs. I love watching you give things new life. Kelp up the gord wolk! Cheers!
Damn Kyle, you totally blow my mind the way you manipulate metal. This is truly a lost art. Today, it's... what's the best body fill on the market. I appreciate men like you in this world. I wish I was younger an was able to see your TH-cam channel. I surely would've got more involved in the metalwork part of body panels. If I had your skill, I would bring an entire older car to its glorious raw metal look. No body fill, no paint, just pure raw metal! Cars had so much more class in the beginning of combustion engine vehicles! Totally appreciate your channel man. I can't wait to see what this fender looks like when you get done. Phenomenal content on this channel Kyle. Love the channel! Keep On Keeping On Brother!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing patience and skill. Your hammer speed is off the charts. I remember my dad (who was a carpenter) saying to me once "Son you strike like lightning, never the same spot twice" . That was regarding hitting nails however. I sure could have used your video's 25-30 years ago when I was doing bodywork on my own stuff. You're very inspirational to watch. Great intro again, LOL
I believe you could make a fortune betting others what you can repair, many would not believe this peices to be salvageable. Unbelievable and amazing are often over used words, but your repair examples define those two words perfectly! Excellent work and results !
What a shameful example of a perfectly bad fender ruined for ever well done keep up the great work if i didn't see it i wouldn't believe it looking forward to the front part . Cheers from oz 🇦🇺
Once again an amazing repair. I could watch you doing this all day. Between this and your van derusting skills there are not many vehicles out there that you could not bring back from the dead.
I have watched since you only had a couple hundred subscribers my complaint is that I constantly have seen you use the right handed body hammer in the southpaw style. As intelligent as you are I thought you would notice sooner . I am glad you are on the right track now. BTW love the channel, and your awesome metal magic ✨, you have a great sense of humor!
Truly great workmanship. Good to hear the music director has made it back, Deep Purple 😳 no Freudian slip there😏 Glad too see the cats taking responsibility for clearing the oceans from plastic 🐈👍🏴
You never disappoint, some guys sell their soul to play the blues... obviously you sold yours to repair garbage. I was hoping this would be one of your famous "Watching Paint Dry" episodes... well, maybe next time. Excellent cat footage!
Canadian souls are worth less on the market, so being able to repair garbage was the best deal I could strike. Don't worry, I have lots of drying paint that needs watching!
Those are some mad skills you have there my man. You are right when you said that you can do a lot with metal to get it where you want it. This video is also important because it showed me the elbow grease needed to get it looking like you have it now.
You are a master metalsmith...Unrelated, I need an address to send my best wishes. Thanks, Smithy! Mr. Cat is quite an overseer of you and your work... You are the only person I know, who can take a metal topographical map and smooth out the mountain ranges and valleys. Incredible! Thanks for sharing.
Nice job. No filler required. Obviously, a pole-axe was the tool of choice for the previous repair. Better keep an eye on the cats. Don't let them toss the drinking straws into Waldsea Lake.
As a craftsman working primarily with timber, I will probably never get the opportunity to play with metal like you do, but watching you bring that moon scape fender back to shiny one-ness is a real pleasure, I admire your skill immensley. Do the authorities know bout you having that there plastic straw?? careful.
I would have given up WAY before that and just put a skim coat of filler on there and be done with it. Man great job doing that metal finish work IT takes so much time and patience. I just dont have it myself. Great use of slapper files. Mine have bent sections that I use. they do really work well though
I hope you’re making a separate video just for the front area around the headlight. Poopy doesn’t begin to describe it! Your skill continues to blow me away. I wonder, could the same thing be done in the English wheel?
Damn, you sure know your job. You did remove the fubar nicely from that spot, i am sure that it will be better than it was from factory after couple hundred of magic touches with hammer. Keep up the good work!
@@CarterAutoRestyling What i have read, Henry didnt approve much in his later days. Juice brakes was one of those useless inventions he despised, but i am sure he would have approved this fender, because it was fixed without any mechanical BS tools.
Great stuff. Great practice. It might not be worth it to some to repair an old fender like this because replacements are so readily available. Bit it keeps your skill in great shape so the one day you find that needs repair and there is no replacements. That's where your skill becomes so valuable.
You Sir are the metal Master! How many hours did it actually take you to fix the butchery on that one spot? 🤔 I am building a 1939 oldsmobile rat rod that was stored in a barn for 45 years before I purchased it…..the only 2 spots I found on the car was the rear panel below the trunk that had rusted through which I cut out and made some 3” x 4” patches mig welded them which came out great. Enjoyed watching a master at work. 👍👍👍
Sure looks like the guy who did the previous repair used the "Claw" end of the carpenter's hammer. "straight" claw as that judging by that headlight area!! Looking forward to seeing that repair for sure!!
I thought the fender was toast ready for the scrap or part out pile . In time you have showed anything can be fixed to a nice useable condition. My 1935 fenders are not worth buying. But my fenders are 80% better than the ones you just fixed. I like you will be doing the tap tap tap on those fenders sooooon....Thanks for the motivation
So, poop loser? That's actually an awesome Mudvayne song if you're not familiar with it. Awesome work tho. I am always astounded by the amazing results. You rock, Dude!
Another great example of your incredible skills and patience. Well done and thanks for sharing your expertise.
Thanks so much for watching and helping out the channel!
Does anyone else just stare in slack jawed open mouthed amazement at the finished job? Just me then.
Yep!!! They sure do Mart!!! 👍👍👍
Not me, but to each their own. Haha Thanks Mart!
Nice work. It's good to see younger folks working on these classics!
99% of sane people would declare the fender beyond repair. Great stuff.
100 percent of sane people would agree with that statement. Thanks!
But we’re not
True statement
Can't wait to see you iron out that headlight opening.
The hammer maestro at work......sit back and watch a true craftsman do miracles.
Wow maestro and craftsman, I do not deserve these words of praise!
I like your sense of humour, don’t lose it
Ok I'll try not to!
Had a stressful day but those dulcimer hammer tones … soothing. Thanks
Glad you were able to de-stress with my ASMR channel!

Fantastic job from a metalsmith once again...I really look forward to your videos..well done
Hi John! Thanks so much for continuing to watch this stuff!
Dang I came here for the crack you hooked me on and I got a bump and run lol. Great job my friend now I need more please
Sorry about getting you hooked on the stuff, but I'm glad you keep coming back!
That was quite the hammer fest.. I really appreciate the cat footage to break up the super speed hammering.

Such patience….way more than me. Much respect.
You have abundant patience for the micro dents and as you stated the head lite area looks like it has the mumps.
It's an ocd thing I think, the headlight area definitely has a bad case of the mumps!

Hi Kyle. The file is interesting ? For shrinking perhaps ? That was a seriously complex repair. A joy to watch !!!
Mainly it was just the tool that was within reach at that point in time
Beautiful work. Thank you.
Thanks!!!
