    The audio in this video was recorded with in-ear binaural microphones. If you wear headphones, your mind won't be blown, but it will go, "woah, that's cool."
    I'm also the producer for the Winding Road TH-cam Channel:

    Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly press vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven't made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole "woah" factor. It's there, trust me. Try it, it's pretty nuts. Or don't. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I'm okay with whatever you do or don't do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. Why are you still reading this, you should be watching the video. With headphones! Hah, had to sneak that in there one more time. Later!

    We have had our 2019 Limited for about 3 months now, we absolutely love it! We live in the mountains of NC and the power is totally sufficient for our area, the gas mileage in great 30- 32 average. Don’t notice highway wind noise at all. The safety features are outstanding . Adaptive headlights are so cool. Extremely comfortable for me driving and as passenger I’m 6.2 . Apple car play works great. Just love this car. It also did great in the snow we had. I traded my Silverado for it and I have no regrets at all.

      That's great to hear about your new Crosstrek. I really have researched this SUV, and it really is above anything else in its class. Many people have said it lacks the power, yet many have said it does very well with the power it has. It also can tow 1500lbs. No other vehicle in its class is recommended for towing any capacity. Everything about the Crosstrek I like. The new global platform has really improved dramatically from the previous generation. Lexus always tops the list every year for decades now. Toyota second Mazda jumping 10 spots to 3 and Subaru was 4th for 2018. Consumers Reports named Subaru as the best companies for 2018. Mainly because of the Forester and yes, the Crosstrek. They also said that the Crosstrek was the most reliable vehicle in the Subaru lineup

    • @moonsapling
      @moonsapling 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@bradcreber75 i agree with everything you said.
      And the most reliable car Subaru has ever made is the old 1999 2.0 Forester.
      No head gasket issues.
      Engine will run no matter what.
      Both manual and automatic transmission are built well and will last the vehicle's life if maintained properly.
      My dad had such beast , now has a 2007 Forester.
      I am about to buy a 1999-2001 Auto.
      They are just great cars!

    I don’t expect a lot of power from this car. This car was made for driving in the city and take your family to National Park for camping. It should have great MPG and some off road capability. If they make more power then you have less MPG and if you have less MPG then it is better to get full size SUV truck. So… it makes sense that this car was built very well for its class.

      Out of curiousity what can you really get out of a video demo on it? There's so many variables between the microphone(s) used to record it, audio/video compression from TH-cam, the speakers or headphones you listen to it on that I wonder how valuable an audio demo really is when you're not in the car itself.

    Nice review! As my first Subaru (Forester 2.5i base), I find it to be among the most satisfying, comfortable SUV's I've ever driven...and that's coming from a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a Cherokee, a Toyota RAV4 and a Highlander. And it certainly has the most visibility, as well as most confident all-the-time AWD. Of course, other SUVs may have more horsepower, but I feel that this CVT engine is more than adequate, if not a speed demon. Regarding "wind noise", I find the base model to be very quiet at all speeds...just a guess, but perhaps the moonroof contributes a bit to the wind noise at highway speeds?

    You keep describing a “radar guided” cruise control. Subaru’s EyeSight with adaptive cruise control is wholly camera based (and very capable) and does not utilize radars as some other manufacturers do. Not a huge thing but that is the correct spec.

New tires at 35k, at 40k heat shield rattled the bolts completely loose and was laying on the exhaust manifold, dealer fixed for free, windshield cracked from outer edge in due to using front defroster for too long (common subaru issue, thin glass), new rear brakes at 65k. The Forester competes with the other base engines in the Honda CRV and Mazda CX-5. Plus it's getting as good if not better gas mileage than those with FWD. 29mpg combined. I never liked Subaru's before. Now with the Global platform and new interiors, I'm taking a serious look at the Forester and even the Crosstrek. I'm very impressed with the interior. Don't care about exterior anyways, I'm in the car all the time. I've been a Honda guy for many years. Subaru has upped it's game dramatically. CVT transmission is also very good. As good or as good as Honda. Looks like the power is going to do the job, even on the highway. Looks like it handles extremely well. You can't argue with that AWD system. One of the best in the business. Not on demand or proactive like Honda CRV or Mazda CX-5. Yes, I will definitely be taking a serious look into the Subaru. "Confidence in Motion", which I need in our winter weather here in Toronto Canada. This year was one of the worst. My Honda Accord doesn't have any grip or stability of a AWD, even with snows on, its tail end goes out no matter how slow I'm turning a corner. Terrible getting up my driveway because the guys I've paid to shovel it come when it's already knew deep. Plus no ground clearance like the 8.7 inches that will help get over the snow bank after the street plow has been by. You still have to be a good and responsible driver in any vehicle, no matter what AWD has to offer. I see them still in a ditch snowbank because they are too confident that the AWD will get them through anything the winter throws at them. They drive way too fast. Another great feature of the Subaru Forester and Crosstrek is the X-Mode. That will definitely get me up the driveway and through any unplowed street.

      Brad Creber Yeah all that is true, I just wish something even like the ascent motor would be optional just on this trim level or something to make the image but I guess it makes sense if it wasn’t selling. The symmetrical awd is definitely something that puts Subaru ahead of the competition, it’s definitely nice to know that you have it if you ever get in a dicy situation. I’m up here too in northern Michigan and my old 03 crv does pretty great in the snow. I would definitely take the forester above the others in it’s class but I’m making the decision if I want to go up a class and consider a Grand Cherokee or the new passport.

      @@bena1549 Hi Ben, The new Honda Passport looks really nice and has very good reviews so far. Either Grand Cherokee or Passport would be an excellent choice. I still haven't made up my mind. Still considering the CRV, and even the Crosstrek, Forester, Mazda CX-5 and Honda Passport possibly. I might even treat myself to the Acura RDX A-Spec. Many great vehicles out there today to choose from. Your 03 CRV, is a great SUV, and I hope you enjoy either of those choices being a Jeep or the new Passport

    • @stevelink21

      Sir, I have the base model (same engine), and IMHO, it's more than sufficient for typical city and/or highway driving. (I'm not a "sports car guy", so I do realize that it's not a sports car (despite the "Sport" moniker), but I don't think that's its' purpose. As the reviewer noted, it gets the job done, in relative comfort and safety.

    • @bradcreber75
      @bradcreber75 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The HP is about the same or more than the base engines of the Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4, and CX-5. The weight isn't anymore than the competition in its class. Mazda CX-5 is heavier. CRV slightly less than the Forester. Why put a turbo in when only 5% purchased them? Doesn't make good business sense for a company to make a turbo nobody wants. 95%, of consumers are happy with the previous generation non turbo version. Now the new global platform is even better with more power than before and direct injection. This new global platform Forester competes with the competition and looks like to be more than adequate power. If you want turbo, I guess you can up with the Honda's small 1.5 litre or the new bigger turbo Mazda CX-5.

      It's not a "fake" gearshift (regardless of what the reviewer says). The CVT is actually changing between preset gear ratios to eliminate the loud, droning sound of earlier CVTs - that most people dislike.
