i love it! i just wish it and other lever guns were not so expensive now days. They used to be the cheap way to go. K mart, Wal mart and the local hardware all carried them. The Rossi's are about 20% cheaper and they are made in Brazil. Why does Henry, and now Ruger, charge us for a tariff that they do not pay? Bring the price down! Make these truly America's gun again.

Tariffs for Henry: NJ taxes, OSHA, EPA, BATFE, American wages, levers require more machining and fitting than ARs or bolt guns.

Like 1911s, lever guns were designed and built in an era where automation was more expensive than human labor. Great granpa's model 94 or Colt .45 that's slicker than goose shite and works no matter what had a lot of hand fitting. Replicating that now costs big money. Also inflation, business costs here in the US, Europe and even Brazil. Tisas and other Turkish products much like Chinese Norinco's when we could still get them are so cheap yet good quality is because the exchange rate is 31 Turkish liras equals 1 USD and 1.09 Euro. So we better hope they start making lever guns and never meet the requirements to switch to the Euro.

I've used the one chambered in .45 colt a lot, its a nice versatile gun. Basically a scaled up version of this, standard velocity .45 colt rounds are still pretty powerful and +P loads can exceed top end .44 magnum loads(although handloading is pretty much required if you want to shoot much of the hot loaded .45s, factory +P ammo is cost prohibitive).

I got lucky the other day and found the Big Boy X .357 available at a big box sporting goods store for a really good price and ordered it instantly. Can't wait to have it in a few days from now. It's absolutely awesome. I like taking the Henry out with a .357 revolver and being able to only need one caliber of ammo. As you know, actually .38 or .357 and that's what makes it even better. You can plink with cheaper .38 target ammo and then use .357 when you want to hit bigger stuff.
The rifle is great and I have had no problems whatsoever. The fit and finish is excellent, just like most Henry's. I definitely recommend this rifle for anyone interested in a lever gun. Make sure you shop around because a lot of places are taking advantage of its popularity and they were jacking up the prices when I was looking for one. I got mine at Sportsmans Warehouse and the price was really good. It was worth the short wait. Good luck.

I think they only come in one length. I just checked the website and the barrel is 17.4 inches and the rifle has an overall length of 36.3 inches. It weighs a little over 7 pounds and has no real recoil to speak of.
Sorry to hear you're in a communist state but you might want to start looking for one now because I just checked Sportsmans website and they are out of stock again. Do a lot of shopping around so you don't overpay. By the time you get your license, it might be the same time that the rifle comes in. I think you'll really enjoy this rifle. Best of luck. 👍

The .357/.38 special version is definitely the way to go if you want to shoot a lot. Even if you're hand loading most of your ammo .38 special will still be cheaper. And you can also shoot .38 Long colt if you really want to in them. Another alternative if you do go with the .44 version would be low pressure .44 magnum loads. They tend not to be that expensive and don't have very bad recoil especially out of a rifle.
