    I called Samsung support this week. I told the guy his speech was muffled/low quality and it was hard to understand him. He said I was the only customer who said this and everyone else was fine. Glad to see that every Samsung rep Arun spoke to was also indecipherable. Small things like that matter - it made the whole experience much more frustrating.

      I did call-centre work for a while and a lot of the internal policies of those out-sourced companies are utter crap. Despite me having some of the best studio-grade audio equipment on the market, they told me that it wouldn't work with their calling software, despite me using it throughout my training (which shocked them) and they sent me Amazon links to some £2 piece of shit USB mic+headphone combo and told me I HAD to use that, or I'd be breaking policy and would risk my job.
      It's no wonder a lot of these companies, especially ones that are still Work-From-Home, have the people on the other end sounding like they're talking through a bucket of muddy water.

      It's just fluff, who breaks their phone and then calls the manufacturer to repair it? unless you have a Care Plus replacement plan etc where they immediately ship you a replacement you would be crazy not to get it repaired locally for less money, better data privacy and substantially cheaper.
      It's actually amusing in this video when Arun says he knows he got his original S23 ultra back because of the rear glass, he was incorrect, samsung would have ripped the internals and put them into a new housing (pretty much a whole new S23) and then glued his original rear glass onto the back of the new Screen / housing.

    For clarifcation: Apple devices are sent to a Warehouse in Leicester and typically repaired the day they are received as they have a day to day turn around. The only time it takes longer is if they have to requote you for additional damage. It's very fast-paced considering the 100's of devices that get sent everyday

    I used to work in the industry in Australia, Samsung was notorious for being one of the worst companies to deal with when needing to get a device repaired. They'd make simple mistakes and try to pass the blame. They were the slowest out of all the manufacturers and were horrible to deal with. Apple was always expensive and a pain in the amount of detail they'd want but would get the devices back to us the quickest. This shows me that nothing has changed in all those years.

They sent a box, it arrived next day (or so), within a week i had it back in a "Hello again!" Box. That little touch of "Hello again!" had me absolutely smiling.

I waited 7 days and it was back with me, in that time they sent it from the uk to poland, "fixed" it and gave it back. However I think i did recieve an entirely different device as my broken device had its IMEI number on the sim tray and a few scratches and grooves in the plastic (pixel 4a with no case) and the one they sent me back had no IMEI number In the sim card tray and also no scratches and as a bonus the battery life was way better than my, at this point 18 month old phone. No need to stay on the phone or go through an auto-attendant first. That's what makes Apple's repair process great to me.

    I think the most familiar service type for Korean Galaxy users is to visit the Samsung Service Center and get it repaired. The reason is that the repair is usually completed within an hour except for the waiting time, and if you return the broken display to Samsung, the repair cost will be lower.(It costs about $185 to return the S23 Ultra display, but it costs about $62 to sign up for Samsung Care Plus.) So it was a big shot for me to get my phone repaired and wait for almost a week to a month to fix it.

    I learned a little bit about phone repair at an old job that refurbished iphones and other smart devices and what I've learned is that they've basically built a lot of technology into the screen. A lot more than used to be there. So replacing the screen is much more difficult than it used to be. Also the screen part is tied to the motherboard part on newer iPhones, in such a way that if for example you swapped the screen on two iphones, neither screen will work as it's not attached to ITS screen. Basically this is to prevent third party manufacturers from being able to make new screens for iphones.
    Let me tell you, it made repairs SUPER DIFFICULT, as a third party company.

    After seeing these prices I would still rather go my local tech repair and get this done for maybe a bit more but get my phone back in less than 3 days. Both samsung/apple processes are just too much of a hassle and frustrating to deal with in my experience. Thanks for the reassurance that I am taking the right path.

  • @benjamineaton5280
    @benjamineaton5280 ปีที่แล้ว +325

    Apple is more expensive but the experience is so much smoother as a result, plus if you get the AppleCare option when buying your device (or just activate it from your phone settings as a relatively affordable monthly payment) you almost certainly wouldn’t have the big outlay for the repair.
    Having said that, their packaging was unusually confusing. But the most concerning things in the video is where Samsung didn’t seem to have the correct tracking numbers, which could have ended up with your phone being lost, and you were right to call them out on their structural issues. Even with the second repair attempt actually going smoothly, you were without your phone for over ten days (if I understood the video right) which isn’t brilliant if you don’t have a backup device in the meantime.

    I have sent in two Samsung phones for repair here in Sweden and the experience was a lot better than what you have experienced. The first phone was a Samsung S10+. I just went to the Samsung repair store here in Stockholm. Brought it in around lunch time and some few hours later it was repaired. The second time it was a Samsung S21 Ultra. That process took a little bit longer. The process took some few days from me bringing it in to the actual repair because they had to order the screen. The process would probably take 1-2 days more if I had sent it by postal service though. But nonetheless I guess the Samsung costumer service is a lot better in Sweden than in the UK. :)

      Even though phone repairs are monopolised into one company here (TMX Solutions Kft.), you can definitely feel the difference between the quality of customer service between Apple and Android.
      And oh, boy, it’s quite the opposite of what people in more developed countries see. Apple’s customer service is horrible and overcomplicated, while Android manufacturers are fast, straight to the point and don’t charge a lot (or even anything) for the repair.
