Recently I remembered an old tale from the days of Bravely Second, a cursed method that allowed one to completely destroy a certain superboss' AI and turn the fight into a breeze. So today, I figured we'd all have a nice sit down and chat about this one ability that ruined the Adventurer boss fight.

i think it was originally an oversight that they eventually found and either didnt care about as they though it would be fun for the players to experiment with or didn't have enough time to patch
Seems like an oversight to me. I don't mind Winter Storm preventing Comrade from coming back (that's just clever spell use), but the Adventurer should stop trying to bring them back for a few turns if it fails and probably have some sort of berserk state as long as Comrade is down so Winter Storm doesn't trivialize the fight. Winter Storm should be a boon, but not an "I win" button.

About the AI some I disliked from BD2 is when bosses has 0 mp and instead of using some "desperate" attacks they trying to use their abilities losing their turn, even in default when bosses run out mp they use 'attack' command, is very anticlimatic see bosses trying to use abilities and failing

That's pretty cool. Bravely Second is a really nice game.
I'm going through again and trying some challenge runs. The first run I'm doing is 1. No consecutive battles 2. No running from battles 3. No adjusting encounter rate 4. Only 1 moon population 5. No intentional level grinding (no running back and forth). All that on ng+ with jobs carried over. So it's basically a low level run.
The other challenge I want to try and see if it's possible is: level cap 1 on everybody, but carry over all jobs and ALL abilities (all job levels carried over at 11). I can adjust the encounter rate for this one. So it'll essentially be a boss rush mode, with grinding some areas for money and steals.

This is a bit unrelated to the video topic, but I wish Deneb was in Bravely Default II. I was a bit bummed that saving the game was done through a menu instead of talking with her, especially since she had been with the Bravely series even before it was the Bravely series all the way back in Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light.
More to the point, I had heard about this ability before. I don't believe it's an intended strategy simply because it breaks the fight too hard. Even the Phantom/Salve-maker combo with its broken applications in BD2 doesn't shut down EVERY single boss in the game.
They should've added a script that detects if the fox is dead for a consecutive turn, that the adventurer does like a piercing attack or something, that way you can use winter storm to stall and get some free hits, but overrelying on the skill will get you punished. Older square enix games did that with a lot of super bosses. I did see though that they probably weren't too focused on the final boss because bravely second's japanese release was cursed with bad ideas.

Came back to the game again a while back and found this video. I kinda bullied him using the Ghost/Spellrain trick with Auto-Undo on my 4th party member while defaulting and healing through Defaults to keep them alive. I felt cheap for doing so but hey, shouldn't give me the option if I wasn't supposed to use it xD

I was kind of disapointed that Kaisar is a support class. Not some selfish tyrant, and buff bot.

...this sounds very similar to the 3d remake of ff4, with the second phase of Dr. Lugae. His entire gimmick was his ability to cast reversal gas, a blue mage that basically inflicts a reversal of healing or damage. Damage magic heals, healing magic damages. See his entire gimmick is built around this ability, being able to hit very high party cast curaga and heavy magic skills. Every three turns, he'll cast reversal gas again and if you cast a heavy hitting magic spell, that's a party Wipeout right there.
...here's the thing though. In the original and only the original ds version, rydia had access to an exclusive eidolon summon, which is dubbed "whitey." You can customize it to whatever you want so you basically make an ultimate 5th party member.
The reason why he specifically breaks this fights is because while he is on lugae, _he_ is the one affected by reversal gas, not rydia.
Once all other party members are down, cast a bio spell from whitey and a regen spell from rosa. Kill rosa and from there, just keep swapping between him and rydia. For some bizarre reason bio is one of few spells that slipped through the cracks so it is not affected by reversal gas, therefore you found a massive loophole where lugae will just keep spamming reversal gas unable to neutralize rydia.
And since that skill costs absolutely no mp...
While interesting I don't bother giving that blasted fight so much as the time of day. He uses reversal gas? I slap him with an elixir and watch him fall over. Screw 3D Lugae
To be fair, I played this game couple days ago and fought with buffing\debuffing using templar\holy magic, dark knight\patissier, wizard\astrologian and Hawkeye\swordmaster. Basically, i tried my best to keep my party alive by negating statuses and the templar's rampart, while the DK and Hawkeye gave damage with dark element. My fault was that mid-battle (1st phase), my itens from patissier ran out, so i had to change weapons to activate against beast to unlock the special attack (and when i had the chance to do so, i changed weapons to rejuvenation). It was pretty rough, but in the end i managed to win (just to be surprised with a second phase x.x); But i kept the strategy and won again, but boy, that was lenghty. Didn't even think about Winter Storm until this video, pretty nuts!

Maybe this boss is something the author of Tate no Yuusha used for certain boss fight yet to be seen in anime
That is the thing i did as soon as i seen boss summoning it back in the days. However games that came later (octopath traveler and others) did fight this type of Ai breaks tho.
