I don't know how anyone could dislike it, it's basically a really OP version of Time Stopper that lets you shoot while it's active.
sure it doesn't work on any other boss besides Pharaoh Man but the fact that it just stops the entire screen is nice in general

Good lord, man. At least learn how the weapons work before dissing them! Pharaoh shot can go diagonally based on your own dang input... It's this game's closest equivalent to Metal Man. It's EXACTLY (sorta) what you complain that you're missing :D

The wire's such an awesome power-up. I think the TV show The Wire was named after it. Like, they were gonna call it "Baltimore Bonanza" or something and then one of the producers was all "remember how awesome the wire weapon from MM4 was, we need to call the show that" and the other producer was like "'h'okay lol".

Toad, Bright, Pharaoh, Ring, Dust, Skull, Dive, Drill, i still remember the order crystal clear, 25 years later. The music here is second only to Mega Man 2, as the best on NES/Famicom.
I grew up with this one! I know most prefer mega man 2 or some others but this one is close to my heart.

To Mike: Emulators emulate original hardware. Doesn't matter how fast the host is. All the rom sees is "NES". If the NES emulator was rewritten to take advantage of the host, it would eliminate the slowdown and flickering. Has nothing to do with the rom.
Mike, you were too reliant on the metal blades in Mega Man 2...so now every other weapon seems weak and useless to you by comparison. The problem is, the metal blades were a flaw that broke the game and made it too easy if they were overused. They should have been more balanced, by not being as powerful and using up more weapon energy to prevent players from relying on them all the time.
+RetroGamerAaron I sort of agree, but the game honestly only plays "more conveniently" with the Metal Blades, I don't feel like it makes the game much easier though, if that makes any sense. I didn't realize just how awesome they were until recently though, I used to only use them on certain bosses, but discovered how great they were very recently.

Mike, I hope you figured this out while playing, but Pharaoh Man's weapon is like Metal Blades, only you can charge it and use the charged ball as a secondary weapon. You get two shots for one, AND you can control the shot in all directions when you release it (except straight up and down).
In other words, it's arguably superior to Metal Blades, except it uses up its power quicker and is a bit harder to master, considering you wanna use the charged ball as a secondary weapon and get more hits in. For bosses not demanding Pharaoh Shot, which is anyone but Ring Man, you can use Pharaoh throughout the stages to do diagonal shots.
something funny: They could've easily fixed the lag issues with the PC port, or the 3DS one, or whatever. They didn't. They left it in on purpose. Ive played these games on emaulators with the lag gone... I kept dying. Its amazing. We are so used to that lag being there that we don't even think about it most of the time.
Until its gone, then we lose. Spent so much time adapting that its second nature.

I like Mike alot more in these Live Streams, he seems alot more sincere and honest then in all the pre-recorded stuff he does with James.
Only slight complaint is that Mike seems to acknowledge almost every dumb/silly/dirty comment, which inevitably leads to more of those and less somewhat worthwile ones.
Apparently I'm the only person who always thought the "P" stood for "plain". I haven't heard anybody else say that on these streams. I'm not saying it's right, but to me it makes the most sense. Sure, calling it "plain" instead of "standard" or "normal" sounds odd, but Japanese to English can be odd. Since they all mean the same thing, I could easily see the Japanese devs writing "P" for plain not realizing it would sound a tad bit off in English speaking countries. But, yeah, plain always made the most sense to me.

Those old papers you wrote the tips on, became an article in someone else's "strategy guide". It's amazing the lengths one would go to, in those days, to get ahead in their favorite games.
Mike, the slowdown is due the NES and is as you said yourself, too much shit on screen NES to handle. This collection is about one to one emulation, so if it had slowdown on NES it will have the same slowdown on even the world's most powerful PC. The game still thinks it's running on NES. This is not a port, this is emulation of NES.

The Pharaoh weapon charges up and shoots multiple directions, sort of like Metal Blades. I'm not sure if it shoots downward any direction, or straight upward, so it might be just horizontally and diagonally upward. You were shooting diagonally by accident, Mike. Also, if the enemy hits the glowing ball that is hovering over your head while you charge it, or runs into you while you're charging it, he will get hit.

Yeah, the weapons totally suck. Who would ever want a screen nuke (Toad), or to be able to freeze an enemy in place and keep shooting them (Bright, which is better than Flashman's weapon because you can shoot while the enemies are frozen), or the ability to shoot in every direction except up and down (Pharaoh)? All those things totally suck.

sun studios is excellent. i went there a few years back bc i loved walk the line so much but anyone who loves music should check it out. i luv mega man 4 but of course part 2 is my fave ever since i was 9. and i DO think the new star wars will b great. i know people hate it but episode 3 was very entertaining. but thats just my opinion. lol .

Mega Man IV was definitely the most difficult of all the NES Mega Man games.

If you take a shot every time mike complains about not having the metal blade, or about how the MM4 weapons suck (which he does because they aren't the metal blade) you will die of alcohol poisoning.

I recently purchased the Legacy Collection on PS4 and was able to beat 1-3. Now I'm pushing 40 years old so I played these games as a kid but I had never played 4-6 till now. For some reason Mega Man 4, 5, and 6 are really hard for me. It's such a pain just to finish the "easiest" boss to begin with. I can plow through Mega Man 2 over and over again but 4-6 are NOT easy at all for me.
Hm, mike. What if you think of the Pharao change as a shield item position above you. I think it can be effective against enemies above you or with a pattern jumping above you. But instead of trying to hit enemies with it's BS angle, get them to walk into it, or jump the shield into them.

Megaman's weapon was originally known as the "Power Cannon" thus P did stand for power until it was changed to Mega Buster. Hope that puts the debate to rest. ^_-

For me personally, the Mega Man games ranked from hardest to easiest: 4, 1, 3, 5, 2, and 6.

Elec Man being his favourite robot master shows how poor taste he generally has with games/media, literally one of the most generic robot masters visually that looks like a bomberman character, im actually pretty sure super bomberman 2 or something had a similar looking boss design with one of the worst looking weapons visually aswell, that looks like your game is about to glitch or something when elec man uses it with that weird animation.

I like the hypocrisy. You said so many times that you don't like emulators because you want to play the games legit. The legacy collection is nothing but a glorified emulator that can only do the mega man games for 15 bucks :D
