One of my favorite moments in modern TV is when Shatner is on 3rd Rock and Lithgow asks him (and I'm paraphrasing here) 'How was your flight?'' and Shatner says something like 'Oh, terrible! There was someting on the wing!' And Lithgow says. "The same thing happened to me!' Help me out if I'm getting this a little wrong, but that's my best recollection. Hilarious!
@philarmstrong For those who don't get the reference (i would say you do of course ) it was an homage to Shatner's appearance in the old Twilight Zone episode Nightmare at 20, ooo feet . John Lithgow would appear in the '83 Twilight Zone film that re imagined it with Lithgow in the same role and yes it was a brilliant joke .😂
HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT... I have been wracking my brain for DECADES about the movie "Q!" It was playing on the TV in my grandpa's room when I was over there as a kid, and all I could remember of it was the beheading and person being skinned alive, because that was the only part I saw at the time. NOTHING since. Never had a clue as to what the hell the movie was. This has been SUCH a cathartic experience!! It's like having every popcorn hull that has ever become lodged in your gums finally removed all at once! THANK YOU, JAMES!! Sincerely, Me, ever since about 1985 until right fucking now.
I don't know how much this speaks to the iconic status of Monster Madness or the intro, but I haven't seen this series in many years, and when that intro hit I was right back there "Word to your Mummy, you know what time it is" So glad to have these supercuts, I'm sure they're gonna get a lot of replays from me
Rewatching these now makes me think about coming home from school excited to watch the new monster madness, these videos put me on to so many movies I would have never thought of watching
There was a lot of shit sure but it was PRACTICAL shit. Before CGI it's all they had, and the 80s had Practical Effects on par with the 90s with the right director because it was such a familiar concept vs early CGI. Practical effects just, always make a movie better!
This was the year i really started to watch avgn and binged all the monster madness episodes repeatedly... Which I'm doing now for over a year again 😂.
Great video! Loved the title headers - that gremlin always stuck out to me too with his little twitch! Home sick and this cheered me up a bit. Thanks Mr AVGN.
This was the best year for some parts of entertainment (horror mainly) during that decade and you discussed movies from the best decade of horror . Spookies is my fave segment thanks to you! 😂
My favorite in this video are Pumpkinhead, The Gate, Twilight Zone, Puppet Master, and Killer Clowns. I remember my mom would watch Pumpkinhead a lot when i was a kid and i actually liked it once i was able to watch it.
This is really cool. I'm not much of a fan of monster movies but i really enjoyed this video. The gate was a movie me and my friends loved as kids and watched alot. Thanks for the video
OMG. Galaxy of Terror. I watched that at like 5 at my grandparents house. It perma-scarred me. The fly larvae on the arm, and then the one that grows. I still can’t say the world, or stand to see them. I dry heave.
I'd love for him to do another Monster Madness in this style, meaning also written by him. He said he wanted to review Night of the Creeps. That would be a perfect film to include in "80's-A-Thon 2."
Fun GoT Fact, that 2nd actress was supposed to have a nude scene, but renegotiated to have a really gory death instead, also I think she was on Happy Days.
And a ware-cat comes along and buries him alive??? ... and no comment, James? So the ware-cat buries him alive.. like a normal cat burying a rancid turd? And you have nothing to say? *shakes head*, missed opportunity, man.
I love this james im named after kyle reese off of terminator i have your book when i opened the random page 27 it showed july 29 1992 thats when i was born! Its about your live action disaster piece spirit 1992.
I was going to say that the Kick the Can episode reminds me of cocoon or something like that but Spielberg was into the producer or director of cocoon it was Howard. I found out and I didn't know this before that Spielberg had a lot to do with the movie Goonies

It's Halloween!
@hater2764 I see what you did there...but I'm pretty sure valentine's day is the most evil of all holidays.
Holy shit I’ve seen Q the winged serpent before
Rich actor died too

3rd rock was one of my favorite shows
"Modern TV"
I luv Third Rock ❤
@philarmstrong For those who don't get the reference (i would say you do of course ) it was an homage to Shatner's appearance in the old Twilight Zone episode Nightmare at 20, ooo feet .
John Lithgow would appear in the '83 Twilight Zone film that re imagined it with Lithgow in the same role and yes it was a brilliant joke .😂
That was a memorable moment ! 😅

This was a damn good Monster Madness and its near impossible to believe it was 11 years ago already.
Can you imagine if James hadn’t been so overwhelmed this year and we got a full 31 episodes? What a shame.
@@leeartlee915”overwhelmed” LOL
favorite intro of the whole series
Rewatching these now makes me think about coming home from school excited to watch the new monster madness, these videos put me on to so many movies I would have never thought of watching
RIP Sid Haig he really was all about the fans. I still miss Captain Spaulding
Word to your mummy
You know what time it is
So dont go anywhere
Finally. The one with the Toxic Avenger review.
The fight scene from They Live is a Masterpiece 🤟🏻🤟🏻
I remember watching this Cinemassacre Monster Madness, love 80s horror movies.
Was just watching this over the past week! This is one of my favorite MMs from James!
R.I.P. Roger Corman. 1926-2024
the 80s had the best horror movies hands down.
Every Halloween, I start my annual tradition of rewatching MM… and then Oct. 31st passes and I just keep on rewatching them. It becomes an addiction.
"Word to your mummy" 💀
Word to YOUR mummy!
You know what time it is
It's close, but this is my favorite Monster Madness.
The fight scene from They Live doesn't just look like a masterpiece. It IS a masterpiece
Exactly what I was waiting for! Thanks for reuploading these, James 🎃😎
Just gotta say Ef you Nerd! The fight scene in They Live is a masterpiece!!!
The length of that fight, and choreography was satired in the “cripple fight” in South Park.
Watching this video put me in a good mood. Thank you.
Hate Biff! everyone loves Biff! I want to see a mini series of Biff just picking on little kids BIFF-CO baby!
80-a-thon. That is good one.
My favorite of the Monster Madness years!
Crazy that I remember watching these MM videos when they came out. Where does the time go?
The best thing about these movies is that even when they're not that great, the practical effects are always top notch!
Still preferable to all the crappy cgi overload we get today
Just learned that Roger Corman was alive until May 2024. He reached 98 years.
Great video! Loved the title headers - that gremlin always stuck out to me too with his little twitch! Home sick and this cheered me up a bit. Thanks Mr AVGN.
"We'll never get a Ghostbusters 3" Oh James... you beautiful, sweet, summer child.
October 2024! Monster madness time!
This was the best year for some parts of entertainment (horror mainly) during that decade and you discussed movies from the best decade of horror .
Spookies is my fave segment thanks to you! 😂
Yeah!!! Word to your mummy!❤
I do like your long videos the best.
this is one SICK Nightbeast
Now I wanna see The Stuff vs Staypuff Marshmallow Man movie!
I wonder if they will bother with monster madness 2017-2022 lol
Ah perfect timing! A great rewatch!
My favorite in this video are Pumpkinhead, The Gate, Twilight Zone, Puppet Master, and Killer Clowns. I remember my mom would watch Pumpkinhead a lot when i was a kid and i actually liked it once i was able to watch it.
The 80s was the best decade for horror movies
70s was good too. I'd like to think 70s ended and 80s began with 2 films:
Phantasm in 1979
Friday The 13th & The Shining in 1980
I live and die by the crystals
I choked up when I saw David Carradine.
Another great Monster Madness! Would love to see other decades given the deep dive.
This is really cool. I'm not much of a fan of monster movies but i really enjoyed this video. The gate was a movie me and my friends loved as kids and watched alot. Thanks for the video
Probably the best of all the monster madnesses
Another great episode
OMG. Galaxy of Terror. I watched that at like 5 at my grandparents house. It perma-scarred me. The fly larvae on the arm, and then the one that grows. I still can’t say the world, or stand to see them. I dry heave.
This might be my favorite monster madness but the current one on tv episodes is getting there because I love a good tv show
Crazy I been watching AVGN/James for soooo long lol I think about 2006 a year out of high school
pumpkinhead is actually my favorite movie monster because of how he looks i love it
James Cameron WAS eating alot of McDonalds back then. He apparently lived on big macs while making some of his early films. 🤣
the funniest thing is..... That IS how I describe Galaxy of Terror as well when asked about it 😂
Awesome!
I agree. Nobody would be suddenly be cool with a werewolf just because he is good at basketball.
Bro! That WAWA reference aged extremely well!
HALLOWEEN MCNUGGETS!!!
Any chance we could get 80's-A-Thon Part II one of these years? There's still a ton of 80's horror movies that are worth talking about.
1:17 James Cameron said when he did Terminator he was so broke his mom was sending him BOGO Big mac Cupons. Makes sense.
you should cover H.P. Lovecraft’s “the unnamable.” The creature effects in it are really good.
I know I'm biased because I grew up in the 80's,but for me that decade is the best when it comes to pop culture, and esp. horror movies.
I like the joke about Wawa because they're everywhere in my area now.
To this day when I buy a sundae from Dairy Queen. I request their marshmallow topping. And I think of the “The Stuff”.
The Galaxy of Terror spaceship seatbelts are Built Ford Tough.
wow, this is too much fun! Keep it up!
Please make a Rambo vs Pumpkinhead!!
I think James was going through a Star Trek phase while making this
I wonder if he knew anything about Monster Dog??
"I live and I die by the crystals." 😉🤘
Hollywood from the movie mannequin with Kim catrel
I never understand how the giant maggot actually killed the women. She just sort of randomly died for no discernible reason.
And a ware-cat comes along and buries him alive??? ... and no comment, James? So the ware-cat buries him alive.. like a normal cat burying a rancid turd? And you have nothing to say? *shakes head*, missed opportunity, man.
34:43
Nows theres a Ghostbusters 4 coming up
>Implying I don't know what a WaWa is
How did you not mention the product placement of all the brands in “The Stuff”?
True they didn't make ONE Ghostbusters 3, they attempted it twice.
The all female one isn't ghostbusters 3 it's a complete reboot. Afterlife is ghostbusters 3
The real ghostbusters 3
Is the video game
Have you covered Raw Head Rex?
it's absolutely terrible btw, but I remember it well!
"...third GHOSTBUSTERS film that will never happen.'
Hmmmmmmmmm
Never say never James!
Ask Kramer about clowns.
one of the greatest cmm
Man we are eating good this October 🤘
Gaht dahm James wtf are ya fucking doing?...thanks for the vids. It fuckin halllllllooooweeeen!
The WaWa line is kind of dated lmao
The 80s were so RAD man!
So, Galaxy of Terror has the same basic plot as "Manos: the Hand of Fate?"
23:04
As a kid I watched teen wolf a lot
I love this james im named after kyle reese off of terminator i have your book when i opened the random page 27 it showed july 29 1992 thats when i was born! Its about your live action disaster piece spirit 1992.
I'm surprised Rawhead Rex didn't make it on here.
sweet happy hallowenXD
I was going to say that the Kick the Can episode reminds me of cocoon or something like that but Spielberg was into the producer or director of cocoon it was Howard. I found out and I didn't know this before that Spielberg had a lot to do with the movie Goonies
Spielberg does a very similar story in the series Amazing Stories from the early eighties.
Lol the wawa bit
34:45 Oh yes they did... they didn't _call_ it "3" but nevertheless; 2016 came around.
We definitely need Alien va Pumpkinhead or Predator vs Pumpkinhead and I'm still waiting for Chucky vs Puppet Master.
Angry nerd said WaWa
My : sleepy cabin
I’ve seen Q, The Gate and The Curse before
If a spaceship crashed in front of a WaWa's it was because the aliens were trying to rush so that they could catch Hoogie Fest !!!😂
23:57 am i the only one who sees Eddie from iron maiden on panel 3?
Pumpkinhead vs Rawhead Rex
Did this inspire Dead Space?
