My three step program to enjoying gaming:
    1. Do what you enjoy.
    2. If you're not enjoying it, change what you're doing.
    3. There is no step three.

Not sure what you did with the camera/post production, but the whole video made me feel like my glasses were dirty. I do love this kind of positive video.

      Haha thanks Seb!
I have a lens that makes a Vaseline-y soft look. I have been trying to push the bokeh, but 2 of my sets have limited depth. I’m working on it for next time!

@@CornerCase If you want that blurry look then adjust your camera aperture, it just looks like it affects the whole thing which does not look good at all. Still, I enjoyed the video and agreed with a lot of what you said!

I just found you and I subbed not because I like Warhammer, not because you have an friggin' awesome jacket, not because of your stupid sick microphone, not because of your advice.
But only because of your dope Carhartt beanie. Awesome video.

First of all, skin lookin GUUUUUUUUDT, Dek! Glowing, flourishing, thriving~
Second of all, this video brings up a lot of problems that can make one feel fatigue for any hobby. You know how I feel about fanfiction, etc, and when getting into a new fandom, I (like others) tend to over-consume fanfic for that fandom (like how you discuss collecting). Then the creation aspect, as well, can cause fatigue, because of pressure to create something other people will enjoy, while also being grammatically correct, while also being original.
Great video to cause reflection and to discover what triggers burnout for all types of hobbies 💖

I feel that collection pressure so much. I've ended up with Chalnath, Octarius, and Into the Dark - all of which are sitting on the shelf still in pristine condition. Pile of shame or future video content?
    Also - *first* 🤪
Also also - I love the fuzzy filter footage, it looks so gooood.

I highly agree: don't feel bad for buying mini that you just want to paint, with no playing in mind. But also: don't buy when FOMO...
    Great video!

second watch while I was painting my Morats and you are right on all the points! I am changing up my order to work on a passion project just because I want to work on it. May or may not see the table, but I want to get it done to see it thru?

    • I've collected stuff I won't use and don't want to paint.
    • Haven't wanted to paint for fun in awhile I'm definitely burnt out
    • keep getting stuff for the games I play and for upcoming events but still don't paint em..
    • I like SM Reavers 😭 they're cool I don't care if they *suck* they're so cool

Great video once again, Dek, thank you for sharing!
One thing I think is worth expanding on but was worth glossing over for this specific vid: you said that games are more fun when you're winning, and while this is broadly true, I don't think I'm alone in finding games fun as long as I've always got a chance of winning. Personally, I can enjoyably lose five games in a row if victory was a close-cut thing and both players had a chance of winning throughout, but I get miserable if I lose just one game on the first or second turn and feel like I wasted my time even setting up. Likewise, on the rare occasions that I secure a one-sided victory for myself, it's definitely more fun than a one-side defeat, but I'm left with a bitter taste in my mouth knowing that my opponent probably had a miserable time (I do try not to put the boot in if I can but it's also good not to deliberately and obviously play worse, I think, as I know when that happens to me it makes me feel condescended and even more miserable).

I hate being in a rut, I feel that overwhelming pressure of not getting things done. Especially after big purchases or after starting a big build.
I have a large piece of terrain I started in March 2022. It's in a box in the craft room. At night I can hear it calling to me.
In November I picked up the nightmare crew for Lady Justice in m3e, December I picked up Scrapyard too. All are waiting, but I have no motivation to start our complete anything.
Thing is I'm not good at gaming. It's taken a couple decades to accept and acknowledge. Currently I'm deciding on whether to continue or sell it all off.

      Thanks for sharing Krux!
I’m sorry about that! Sounds like you’re in a lot of emotional debt to your projects!
I think I’d take a page out of Uncle Atom’s book and say-you don’t have to be the best at the hobby or at gaming to enjoy it!
I hope you are able to find excitement in the hobby again! If you need a fresh start, then follow your heart! We’ll always be here for you!

When I moved several states away from the group I played 40K with I feel like I became more of a collector. I think I played a few games of 8th. Still have not played a game of 9th. Same with other games. I would love to learn more about TTS.

    • @CornerCase
      @CornerCase  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Brian!
My buddy and I gave OPR a try via TTS, and TBH it was pretty fun. Almost like the real thing. It's definitely a learning curve, but if you just wanna get in reps, or hangout with a buddy, it's really not a bad option if you're stuck at home or too far.
We're working on a TTS video.

Honestly play the game you want to play and dont just follow the group.
I folowed the community last year and played conquest. I got burn out because I had to paint huge régiment, play competitive match weekly, lore qwsnt attractive and so on.
I decided to play what I wanted and not following the gaming group. Best thing ever.
I might not have game every week but I hobby every day since the last 2 week, I'm excited about the lore, building terrain, learning new and original games.

Haha yeah! Super relatable. You know part of what pushed me into Infinity was I played a narrative 40K league for a month, and even though I liked the guys a lot, it was just super not fun for me XD. Even getting my ass whooped in Infinity every week, I'm still super happy playing and painting it

I feel that! I have Moonstone, but I’d have to teach friends if I want to play it! I’ve come to terms that sometimes, the models are their own joy. It’s ok to just be happy with them.
