Great setup and video. I have never made the trip to San Angelo, but see that we're around 3.5 hours apart. I primarily operate from K-3503 (Government Canyon) in San Antonio. This has absolutely been a hot summer...and into the fall. Have a great day and great activations with your (tr)uSDX. vy 73 de David AE4LH
Thank you for the comment. Yes, I was visiting San Angelo and figured I'd get a POTA activation in before noon. It's a nice community with fine people. Hopefully will run into you here in South TX, 73!
Great video, thanks for sharing. The San Angelo area should be pretty quiet RF wise.
Great video! de W2CSI
Thank you for the comment & 73!
Great vid. Im a youth operator and got this kit for my first hf rig. Not too hard to build
Thank you for the comment. The (tr)uSDX is a great rig but be aware that it's a QRP rig, so with 5W breaking into a pileup could be challenging. Having said that, you can make some amazingly distant contacts w/this radio. My suggestion would be to design/implement a good antenna and you're good to go! Best of luck and 73!
@@quantumradio I heard that. Seems like Parking on a frequency works better. I'm going to use a quarterwave vertical wire antenna
@@quantumradioFinally finished. Hopefully getting my general in a week
@@chipweather Best of luck! You got this. 73!
@@quantumradioCan't wait to start using it. I'm scared of breaking it with a bad swr. Shouldn't be impossible to fix though as the bs170 just blows. 73
Pfff some CW-Operators on the other end should know that CW is a skill and not like chopping wood.
I somehow like your swiper, still i only can handle a straight key, a squeezer confuses me.
Thanks for the comment. You are right, CW is a skill and I think that it's fun when you can communicate in code. The swiper is a $25 paddle, the N6ARA tiny paddle. I only use it for POTA, I too use the straight key at home on the count of I end up sending with less errors than with a paddle.
This is great, thanks for taking the time and effort to film. I'm right on the cusp of activating CW and this video encourages me to just do it. KA5TXN
Thanks for the comment. I did the same thing for my first CW activation & just figured I'd go out and get it done. I sent a lot of question marks (..--..) and folks slowed down & replied. I guess they figured you gotta start somewhere. Best of luck & 73!
