Hey Michael. Thanks for the video. Im trying to get my hi band board to work, and you got me going in the right direction. Im 35.1 miles @ 284° from you. (Aprs) Think I'll try the aspirin trick.73 John

I usually burn the coating off with the soldering iron. When the wire is too thick I use a carpet knife. Mine ran on rx right away. However, the swr was huge. After much fiddling with the swr cores I finally found out that my load was not 50 Ohms and the bad swr was correct. The pcb material is excellent. What surprised me most was the harmonic suppression. On 80m about -48dB and then from band to band lower down to -55dB on 20m, my highest band in this rig. Thanks for your video!

Hi! Just a quick tip that does not involve scraping: Take one aspirin pill (Aspirin, also known as acetylsalicylic acid) and put the copper wire on top of it; then hit it with the solder iron tip; The tip of the iron must be saturated with solder and flux; the heat will melt the aspirin pill surface and that in turn will dissolve the enamel and in the same time will wet the copper wire with solder. Some fumes will be created and you really really really don't want to breath those toxic fumes. For thicker copper wire you can also try folded sandpaper cause you do two sides at once, but thinner than 0.2 mm , do the aspirin tablet.

Thanks for the "Using things out side of their intended purpose" hack!
This will come in handy one day lol

them little dinky wire cutters make good scrapers. Altho, I shall confess, fire doth burn that enamel when hot enough!

Yeah, I purposely didn't mention fire, but yes it will work, but then sometimes the "soot" left behind will hinder soldering. Make sure to clean good after that with alcohol. 72 Michael

    How about a pencil torch?

If you clean it well. But it will leave soot and cause a bad solder joint.

      Sound reasonable.
Good advice. Thank you. I just received my "Classic" kit today.
Messed up my order and only purchased half the kit! 😄.
Looking forward to burning some rosin.
