Gray Hybrid Egg - Wood turning a dragon egg

Welcome back!
I know this piece is a bit past due! It is a hybrid egg that was cast in dog wood and decided to give it some turning! But some projects kinda just get pushed aside until one day you decide to finish a few old things. So here we are!
The wood is spalted dogwood dogwood root ball. I salvaged it from the woods from a tree that had been blown over a while back given the spalting that was already on it. I cast it in I believe the Alumilite Clear Slow.
The base was from a buckeye burl that was from another project that didn't get used. It was stabilized in Shed Life 3.0 blend and cured in the oven for 10 hours to make sure it was up to temp through the center.
Both pieces were finished with two coats of danish oil. The egg was buffed on the Beall buffing system (tripoli, white diamond, wax or buffing compound on epoxy). The base was left with just a flat danish oil finish to help set off the rock look the buckeye has.

Multipurpose art. I like it. Lol. Na, I’ve just always seen the regular egg shape needing more to it. So I make mine a little more on the reptile side of eggs.
