    Great video as always. I’m not usually a big fan of PVD watches, but the RRII is the only one in the family with a color matched day/date wheel - I realize it was not one of the original choices. So, it is a difficult decision. But after going back and forth between the Mako and the Ray, I would ultimately go with the RayII, same as you did.

    On dimensions, style and value proposition the Ray II for sure. This is the new SKX.

    I bought the Ray 2 as well for the following reasons. 1) I wanted to pay with taxes less than $200 USD so was deciding between the Ray 2 and the Mako 2. 2) Between those two as you noted the Ray 2 has a nicer band. 3) I like the style of Ray 2 netter than the Mako 2 as I prefer the watch face without numbers instead of a big 12, 9, 6 on the face of the Mako 2. 4) I like the hour and minute hands on the Ray 2 bettter. Both are awesome values for the money it’s just a matter of preference. The Ray 2 at under $200 is actually a nicer watch than a different automatic diver style watch from a different brand that I previously purchased for $275. For an automatic diver watch with 200 meters water resistant that looks and feels more expensive the Ray 2 is near impossible to beat. It is an awesome watch.

    I also picked the Ray 2 blue dial. As I said in your Bali holiday video, I think it's the best holiday watch. It's cheap so I don't have to worry about losing it. It's also very versatile, I took it snorkeling all day in Thailand, and at night, I can still rock it with a smart casual outfit.
    That said, I am going to pick up the red dial Kamasu since it's my favourite colour and I've been looking for a red dial watch. It'll come in handy when Chinese New year arrives and everyone in the family dress in red. 😆

    Have had the Ray II with orange Dial for a few months now & it's a good value. Less reflections with that color. Also better lume than the Mako. Wears small tho & the 👑 Crown is to small with minimal knurling which is very hard to operate around those guards. Have to find a solution for that or flip it. Lol 😁

    I have the ray with the two crowns (black), the III with the red bezel on a leather strap (I like it so much, I ordered yesterday the blue version w/ss steel bracelet) and the diver I like the most and you did not mention it, the Triton (blue). Since I have larger hands out of the three the watch that gets the most time is the Kano (Ray III). My favorite though is the Triton; great design but a little heavy for daily wear.

    • @PerthWAtch
      @PerthWAtch  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are more divers in their range... I was focusing more on the budget non-ISO compliant models, as opposed to the Triton which is a proper ISO 6425 Diver's watch, and of course, more expensive.

I prefer to go AD even on lower priced items as Orients, and just buy AD local. Can use LIW or Orient USA.

      Thanks for those thoughts Michael - the Ray Raven II is popular it seems but I just never tend to prefer black PVD over plain steel whenever I have the choice. Not sure what it is, but partly is that plain steel is more versatile, can dress it up more than black PVD which tends to be more casual/sport. Also depending on the model PVD can make it look cheap. For low priced items like this if there is a good local proper eBay seller then that's likely the best way to get the best price for us here in Australia. As long as it's a legit dealer the warranty will be stamped and valid. I have bought from overseas too but we get hit with 10% GST these days which can break the deal. Thanks for that - the Mako XL is too large for my preference (and my wrist), but I think it's also rather popular.

      It’s variable labelled the Ray III, Mako III or Kamasu, depending on country being marketed in (it seems). I thought I explained that.
