I wonder how many young players look to play this wonderful music today? Of course their teachers should be revealing the beauty of this music to their youthful ears!
Does anybody name of 4. 5. and 8. piece ? They are unknown and not listed in Galilei/Chilesotti collection. 1. Prelude, 2. Bianco Fioré (Volta), 3. Danza, 4. ??, 5. ??, 6. Canzone, 7. Saltarello, 8. ??. I have sheet at all that I named. :-)
I enjoy this particular guitar more than the lattice jobbies he used in his later recorded work but there is no way one can come to that conclusion from listening to this clip on TH-cam. It is dreadfully distorted.
There is a Segovia version of these pieces. I think Schotts (Karl Scheidt?) have published a version and some of them appear in various renaissance anthologies
Make a search wiht "Six lute pieces of the renaissance" and you get Oscar Chilesotti's version on PDF However, Williams has added some extra ornamentation .... most of it is exactly the same stuff and Williams plays some other peaces too.
Wonderful and peaceful music for the soul

When you hear that static hum of the 70s, you know it’s gonna be good. Well it’s John, of course it’s gonna be good
This is very beautiful thank you for sharing
Note the monster ganglion on his right hand wrist at this stage of his career.
Nice to see him read from the score!!
Brilliant, surprising audio a bit weak in mid range, great strings and a fine guitar, and the maestro,, remarkable !
I like renaissance.
Grandioso John Williams

One piece has a very long name. first part of the title is ' Si io m'accorgo dun altro ........? Its the slow, measured piece.
This Fleta in John's hands is the best guitar I've ever heard ...
Undoubtedly
Y tal vez en otras manos también.
I hear that too, I'm thinking Jason Waldron own this guitar now?

His old recording show, the fullness of tone but it's subjective,
Wondrous !
Does anyone know where I can get written music to these pieces? Some titles would already be a nice start.
Maybe here? s9.imslp.org/files/imglnks/usimg/d/d6/IMSLP478678-PMLP776103-Michelangelo_Galilei_Lute_tablature_transcribed_and_transposed_to_staff_notation_Joost_Witte.pdf

The description says Galilei, I assume Vincenzo Galilei is the composer?
I know one sheet music site but the system deletes my link , why ?
