. I noticed that the aircraft went in a complete circle, they had to have to have flown back over near the airport from that angle. I'm just wondering why the aircraft didn't just merge right after lift-off if that was the direction they were going to go anyway

Früher waren südlich der Terminals die beiden Runways 25R und 25L und hinter dem Cargocenter die 18. Und auf der 25R wurde in den 80er und 90er Jahren gestartet und auf der 25L gelandet. Und hin und wieder mal startete einer auf der 18.

Nope, they lifted of in a shorter distance, but there distance from the ground was low, which makes you feel they almost overran the runway :)

Nein. Der A380 ist für den Einsatz auf der Runway25R (Landebahn Nord) nicht zugelassen. RW25R ist zudem eine reine Landebahn.
