- Hello guys and gals, it's me Mutahar again! Wubuntu is a level of fraud I thought would have been taken down by the time this was uploaded. As someone who preaches Linux, software like this literally does nothing but draw negative attention and potentially puts people at risk. Wubuntu is but one of many dodgy distros and should be avoided. Thanks for watching!

For those who are wondering why this didnt get taken down sooner, the answer is that it was taken down sooner. From what I have learned, this is a case of a repeat offender resorting to sock puppeting the same system under different names. They will just keep bringing it back via rebranding. The only way for it to stop would be to arrest these developers and charge them with conspiracy to commit fraud using copyrighted aesthetics, as well as false advertisement.

Of course you have to say you use linux as stated in the beginning
@@vectrex2195 Just Ubuntu with cinnamon skin.
For my daily needs I only need to run a web browser, play audio, casually play some games, edit text documents and draw some shitty rectangles.
Can you do this on Linux? Yes, mostly out of the box. You will need to install Steam and an art program of choice.
Can you do this on Windows? Yes, mostly out of the box. You will need to install Steam and an art program of choice.
But on Windows you can't just get comfy and use what you need to use. The very first thing it does, is trying to get you to create a Microsoft account, and buy the Office Suite. I don't want an account or pay for an office suite. I want the most basic functionality. No, I don't want Cortana, I know what I need. Thanks for the audio player, I guess, but I prefer VLC. Oh, I can't get rid of the Windows media player. Guess I have 2 of them now, but one the system "recommends". I don't want to update, I have everything I need set up just fine. Oh, it forces the update on me. It just installed "3D paint" as well. Why is Teams booting up by default again, I thought I disabled that. Why is AI.exe making my fans make this noise? I just want to type in some funny numbers and edit my shitty rectangles.
Now Mint is my daily driver. Once you learn "I actually get say in what my system is doing, and I should not have to conform to a specific way of doing things" it's very hard going back to big company systems. I'm not even that tech literate, but it's clear the system is meant to actually be used, instead of it feeling like they are using you, somehow.
I could as well, but unfortunately there are some games which I play sometimes and they don't run very good on Linux or don't run at all, so I have to use Windows...

@jayyh_01 Linux mint is probably the best choice for you, very user-friendly, easy to maintain and with a good software selection
@@jayyh_01Don't be afraid to do some distro hopping. Most distros are distributed as live images. You can boot those and have a look. The benefit is that your system won't be touched. If you have a machine at hand which is not your daily driver, then its a very nice opportunity to use that to do some installs. You can play with it without having to worry about backups. Virtual machines are also an option.
As for distro's, there are many. I would start with one of the main stream ones. Mint is indeed very good. But you are the only person who can truly decide which is best. Its all about personal preference.
The best advice I can give you is to look at which desktop environment you like best. That's what you will be using every day. KDE Plasma is the swiss army knive, default its very nice already but you can tweak just about everything, Gnome is also very popular. And there are more light weight alternatives. Worth considering.
Second piece of advice: try to find open source alternatives for the software you use most. If its open source, those applications can most likely be installed directly from the software center. No need to go to websites to download installers.

If i didn't play pc games I'd switch to mac or linux the next second.
So, the worst of two worlds in a single distro:
- Close source (unless they release the source code later on)
- Not having the degree of compatibility with Windows applications (Wine has been improving over the years, still not close to deal with the likes of Visual Studio and other Windows API reliant programs).
But why.
I think they might also be potentially violating the GPL, by not even providing the source of the kernel.
BTW, about wine, I was recently in the same group as "Wine is okay but it won't run many programs I need". But recently I had the opportunity to setup wine properly and I was amazed beyond words. The things it ran, I was betting on it not running and it f**king ran.

Iamus is right, most windows games do ship for Linux as well because it really isn't that hard to recompile for Linux. The only distros that don't follow this are source only distros, which you should never use as a normal user. However Linux is currently undergoing a big change in graphics so I'd give it a year or two for Wayland to be more mature, and maybe take a good look at the pros and cons if you plan on using an NVIDIA graphics card (Linus Torvalds has a famous quote because of this reoccurring issue with NVIDIA, however it's not a complete reject though, I use proprietary NVIDIA drivers and am fine with the issues it presents).

But just use something like WSL on 10 or 11 if u want a windows vibe and just tryna dip ur toes in linux like what this os' target market seems to be. Lotta this stuff can easily be done on vanilla ubuntu out the box tho or a couple installs (e.g., powershell which i sometimes use for stuff like csproj files made by plebeians) start icon and system tray could be more like windows. I like their touch of including current, default windows backgrounds. I will say that's some cool asci for the windows terminal icon tho. imo windows is comparatively masochistic once u get accustomed to the benefits of linux

Hey Muta, since you are so big in to Linux and specifically gaming on Linux. Could you do a video for people who want to join the Holy Linuxland explaining what and how you use it?
Now I'm curious about using Linux. Can you convert a windows machine to Linux, or do you have to start from scratch with an empty hd?
There are a few ways it can be done. One way is to create separate partitions on your internal hard drive or SSD, for your Windows and Linux OS.
The second way is to install Linux on a completely separate drive either internal or external (Linux distributions can run on external storage).
The third way is to completely install Linux over your existing Windows install, but I wouldn't recommend this unless you want to remove Windows completely. Some distros of Linux can be run live without installing them first, so I would recommend you doing that and trying them before doing a complete install.
Nomatter which way you create a dual boot machine you might need to change the boot order in your computers BIOS or select the partition with the operating system when your computer boots.
The other thing to remember too, Windows and Linux both use separate file systems so if you want to transfer files between each OS, make sure you format some storage to a system that both operating systems can recognise, such as NTFS.

Mutah, , if I remember right, you are using KDE with a 4090. How broken the install got on the update to Plasma 6 (steam related issues)?
I reskinned and reworked most of my windows 10 to resemble windows XP so I can have the classic system with the modern support. Am I apart of the problem?
The newest wine-dows I voluntarily installed on a machine I use was w7. That was a long time ago though. Nowadays everything I use is linux-based. Including my gaming setup (consisting of a docked steamdick).
At first, going by the thumbnail and the video title, I thought, you were referring to the former dual boot installer, that was provided by canonical themselves( the developers of ubuntu), which was also called wubuntu. If I remember correctly, it was discontinued almost 10 years ago, around the time windows xp support was going to end.( I don't remember why it got discontinued though)
I assumed there was some supply chain attack involved with it, or something like that.
Just curious what kinux distro you use in this video?
The perfect "tell me you use windows without using windows" answer.
Is Linux mint easy in terms of usage/ installing apps
Or are there easier ones
Mint comes with a 'software manager' which has pretty much everything you need avalible (even non-free/proprietary apps), and once you have Mint installed it helps you through the basics.
It's recommended to just put Mint on a live USB before you install it, so you can try it out without changing your actual system. Mint also runs great on VMs.
I cannot imagine wanting things like one drive if I was installing linux
Im a main Windows user but I want to familiarize myself with Linux since Im thinking of switching to it entirely in time. What do I do? I just make a VM with Ubuntu(seems like the most user friendly at this time for me) and fuck around with it. I will probably try different Linux OS before switching to see whats best for me. Having so many is a bit of a stopper for me.
Look for distros that can be booted just off of a live USB (Mint the goat IMO), and just try and mess with them before installing. It'll be slower but it will leave your current install completely intact. And if you do somehow mess something up, rebooting will fix it all, since nothing gets saved. (the installed version would still be making backups etc. so nothing to worry about)
the ammount of times iv seen mutah get ready for goatsies this month is insane
I actually remember once when I had a laptop that kept crashing and wouldn't behave unless I turned it off entirely and turned it back on again... that was when it run on Windows 10.
I changed the OS from Windows to a Linux OS, specifically Kubuntu I think it was called(I have a younger sibling who had all the startup stuff saved on a memory stick so it was installed by them, that way)... and it worked like a dream until it died because of a battery issue at seven or eight years old. Unfortunately the new laptop runs on a Chrome OS, but I'm going to see if I can get it changed to Kubuntu or another Linux system.
Thanks Muta, I am getting my first PC this month and I was seriously considering on using Wubuntu as my main OS. Speaking on which, which is better for a first-time user switching to Linux, Ubuntu or Mint?
Honestly, both are pretty solid choices. You won't go wrong with either option.
Both have a very strong community and are well documented in case you need to fix something. It really only boils down to the out-of-the-box experience you prefer between the two. Ubuntu mimics something akin to MacOS while Mint mimics something akin to Windows.
Of course, you can pretty much install any DE you want on either and Ubuntu has a KDE spin (Kubuntu) that will get you closer to that Windows feel if that's what you're shooting for.
@@thatonefurry Thank you very much! 🤝🏻
I was going to install Wubuntu a few days back, but I passed it up. Thank God I did. Also, I'm a Windows and Linux person. I dual boot both together. For different tasks. Windows for gaming, work, and Ren'Py. Linux for USB formatting, testing, and playing around with.

my linux desktop environment also looks like windows (7), it's not hard to do with themes and widgets people already made for for instance kde or other DE's
I would like to try Linux but which distribution did you recommend? I was thinking MINT or ZORIN
Mint is a bit behind now and zorin is slow and dosent have a large community backing it (which is important) I would recommend looking for an arch based kde distro if you are just coming for windows. It will take time to get used to it but after you watch enough videos and mess around with stuff it becomes an easier and better experience than windows.

I figured why change what works? I've also gotten an A+ certification that needs to be updated by now 15 years
I really want to make the switch to Linux but I love the Microsoft Office suite and have heard it has issues on most main versions of Linux. I am an accountant and access to Excel is the single most important program on my pc.
LibreOffice exists and is quite good.
The moment he said "Wine" I huge PTSD and the sense of satisfaction all hit me at once from suffering through confused downloading and finally getting it ...
I do really wanna try mint or arch I see a dual boot in my future or maybe just a vm but I don't get as immersed with a vm.
i wanna get into linux and still play games like siege, cod, and fivem is it possible? even with virtual machines?
The whole point of me using Linux to get away from Windows and customize it. I wouldn't want it looking like Windows again.
I have tried Linux Mint a number of times over the years and in different machines because it was supposed to be the most user friendly distro. But I’ve never had any luck at having a smooth experience with it. Problems with drivers always seem to be the issue on one way or another. My most recent try was a month ago and I kept having graphic driver issues that would hard freeze the system and no matter how much I looked around and how many instructions I read to put commands on the terminal the issue was never solved. And those instructions weren’t easy to understand sometimes because it wasn’t explained properly and I had to look for instructions in order to understand other instructions… 😔
I'm pretty sure I saw this a while ago but never got around to sticking it on a VM to test. I probably won't even bother now.
