People who don't know how to hop right ride suicide often and it makes me want to scream. I've had lots of friends lose limbs, die from/have slack action fuck their lives forever, etc. I don't think he was hopping though, just following tracks. psa for anyone who wants to ride manifest: use grainers, don't jump into gondolas without looking, don't even think of getting on tankers, never ride a car without a porch, stay away from box car doors, don't ride piggybacks if you're not experienced, always have 3 points of contact and hold tf on because slack action is no joke. Stay down and away from bridge snitches, and never hop out while the train is still moving (on the fly) over 5mph. If a grainer has a cubby hole (owl hole) with a floor and it's at least 20 cars back then THAT is the car you want. Never hop out in the yard, stay away from train enthusiasts/foamers because they hate us. If the conductor has seen you then ask if you can ride in the sleeper, be respectful of the equipment, stay away from the knuckle, stay off the roofs of cars. There's lots more but just be respectful and smart.
I remember showing my ex the Down the Rabbit Hole video about Terry. She couldn’t stop focusing on how he was “just some racist computer nerd”. The man is probably the best example of tortured genius. He was seriously affected by schizophrenia and mental illness. You can tell he really was a kind hearted dude, but his brain put up all these barriers that he managed to overcome in whatever way he could. I’ve worked as a behavioral tech and worked with with people like terry. Everybody writes them off as “crazy”. I’m telling you, these “crazy” people can have the most profound insights that our “normal” brains won’t even allow us to see. Yea the dude was bat shit, but he’s an example of the US healthcare system completely casting aside those that need it most
I'm 2 years late, but I couldn't help but add: people with severe thought disorders like Terry are indeed an unsolvable problem. We can't forget that, in Terry's case, he actually had family that cared about him. He actively refused help because his delusions made him suffer _more_ mental anguish being pushed into a controlled environment than getting drunk on the streets until it came to a grizzly end. Would it really have be "helping" him if they more forcefully protected him from himself, so to speak? And of course, people without family or friends that care about them are even less likely to want such help, because in their minds, it's essentially strangers chaining them up and making them slaves. The US absolutely needs to improve its healthcare system, especially for mental health, but this is not a good example to point to: it's a matter of philosophy, not medicine.
I agree to be honest i feel the DTRH video wasnt very kind towards terry we can outwardly say he was just a racist which he may of been but it was almost entirely caused by his mental disabilitys being that his parents seemed to not show any racist tendancies however the only thing he should be remembered for is what mutahar said his legacy will now last for as long as we are here to remember him RIP KING TERRY

It’s a real shame that 99% of people have absolutely no idea the sheer gravity of this achievement. It would have to run both DOS/NT and UNIX executables. They're labeled completely differently (if you tried to open a .exe on UNIX, it would either think it's a folder or try to open it as text, and if you tried to run a UNIX binary on Windows, it would ask what program is supposed to open it), which means the OS would have to detect both file flags and extensions, or everything would have to be made to open as a binary from a menu.

He was capable of so much more and we'll never be graced with someone like him ever again. It's a tragedy and a sin what happened. It should be looked at as a point of shame for us all.
He didn't have multiple mental illnesses. Schizophrenia being misdiagnosed is sadly normal. I had a bipolar 1 w/ psychotic symptoms diagnosis at 15, which changed to schizoaffective disorder at 21(approx) and undifferentiated schizophrenia at 26(approx). In fact, it has made getting help very difficult. Figuring out disability is essentially impossible coz of symptoms, and there is only assistance (with the application and follow up process) for people who have more obvious disabilities for some reason (like blindness, mental retardation, etc). There's also confusion coz they say oh, you only had this disability since you were 26, when no, I've had the same issue all along and they just labeled it something else. I had to get a letter advocating for this fact from my old doctor, and they still resist it, even though this is a well known thing in the medical community (diagnosis changing with more info, I mean). Sucks. Also, he is not racist. No, really. I'm glad you pointed out that it was coz he was ill. Makes me sad when people don't understand. Schizophrenia really is like being in another world, and a confusing & scary one at that. Judging someone by normal standards when they are just gone mentally isn't helpful. Gotta get people help, not judge... even though it's understandably difficult to separate the two. Anyway, nice video. Have a good one.
You did a solid in capturing the essence of terry and showcasing his os. I’ve seen a lot of video’s either bashing him or overlooking the os he created. You covered a lot, well. 👏
4:13 as a PhD student for Engeniering Software, i can atest to this statement for non programmers. Its hard on its own to install and configurate a virtual machine if you are new to programming and computing, Let alone Creating your own OS, is not only hard, but real stress inducing, not to mention time consuming since for an experienced programmer to do this, you would need the bare mininum of around 6 months working 8 hours a day, 6 days a week [free sunday]. And if you are not into programming and coding, or if you like to have a social life, Then don't even try because you wouldn't finish it 3 years min. Muta although i have to say, for someone who works on VAX 32 (allegedly), he might have enough capacity to do this. Although let's be real no one working on a close 45 year old hardware will in no way create its own OS by root.

Yea the dude was bat shit, but he’s an example of the US healthcare system completely casting aside those that need it most
As someone living outside the US, this kind of problem is nearly unsolvable. They end up in the streets.

How could you ask that
He didn't have multiple mental illnesses.
