  • how to hook up a harbor fright v twin compressor head to a compressor that gone bad. how to deal with the crazy wackado fitting no one can find. the good news the actual heads are standard 3/4 inch pluming parts and you can

    Half a decade later still humdinging along just fine to all the smooth monkees complaining about cooling fins and copper blah blah blah.

    That pipe you removed was an inter cooler circuit. Why remove?

    Yeah I had no problem at all finding a 3/4 copper fitting to fit without modifying anything and though I like your tip about removing the fittings from the cylinder head and putting the standard pipe fittings in I personally would not do away with the finned cross pipe that comes with the pump because though it may work just fine the way you have it the finned cross pipe that comes on it is to reduce heat and to reduce the moisture that builds up and goes into your tank now how much of a difference it may make I don’t know and can’t say if it is enough of a difference to even be worth the hassle of making it work with it but in my own personal opinion if keeping moisture out of your air supply is something that you want then regardless of how much of difference it makes I would keep that but again that is personal opinion though regardless of the brand or where it was manufactured at every duel head compressor pump I have ever seen has the same finned line for reducing heat and that alone would be enough to tell me that it must make some kind of measurable difference

      Good point. Dude is an idiot. Hard piping that would e difficult. you might have 2 threads in length to play with. Even with that said. Once you fit it up if the union isn't seated, Tightening it op will seat it and pull the heads together, plus carry the vibrations with it. Numb Nut probably use it as a lifting nut.

      5 years on..still going strong insignificant worrys
      Use heavy to paint cars sand body work run high volume are tools no significant moisture in take I have a dryer on my outlet line for keeping moisture out of paint guns
      No problems a half a decade in its pride for itself 100 times over it could total screw the pooch tommorow and I would go get another one and set it up on my tank exactly the same way

    Hard piping will cut the life cycles . The heads need to freely move ,coppers used for heat -pipe expansion and contraction.
    It's works that way . Don't overthink it

    I just cut the flare off and a regular 3/4 npt fit right on.

    • @phiksit
      @phiksit 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, if you get the pump with the flare connection the treads are pretty close to 3/4" npt. His had compression fitting thread and those are no where near pipe thread size.

    I don't think the loss of the finned tube is as significant as it might seem. Both heads are the same, as far as I can see, so this is not an intercooler (between stages) instead it just cools the air from *one* of the two heads. (Having a second finned tube between the tee & the tank itself would be an improvement). While reducing temperature should mean that a somewhat larger mass of air will be stored it will not reduce the moisture content (moisture has nowhere else to go but into the tank), so that is a non-issue.

    That crazy nut is called Japanese industrial metric , I had a Hydrolic hose company put a line on it for mine they charged $25.00 , but it was on the correct side for my horizontal 80 gal tank , so didn't have to be very long .

    Hello dear. I want to inquire about the per anum liters we can get from checkered giants. Are they same like as other rabbits or have some different routine? I am from pakistan. Will they survive there and how many clutches we can get yearly from checkered giant rabbits.

    That solid tube between cylinders will expand due to heat and will break the cylinder neck

    I have the same compressor and to best of my knowledge the fins cool down 160% comparing to cooper . Now if you’re running steel pipe l, you should pray for your safety .
    Always check the temperature of the pipes and fittings before deciding to make it this way

      Muraf sukkar- I HAVE THE SAME SET UP (STEEL WATER PIPE) FOR OVER A YEAR,HAVE NO ISSUES, IM A TRAILER MECHANIC, SO I USE MY 60 GALLON COMPRESSOR 5 DAYS A WEEK
      ALL DAY,WITH 5 HP HARBORFREIGHT HEAD PUMP, BY THE WAY, MY COMPTESSOR IS SET UP TO 190 PSI AND AS I SAID WORKS LIKE A CHAMP !!!

    • @Benbear2022

      Not on this since it is a two cylinder single stage pump. If this was a two stage compressor pump then it would matter, but it is not.

    Well, I done the same thing he did. I have an aftercooler on my setup. I also noticed the inside diameter of the cooling tube Finn is way smaller then 3/4".
    Go copper if you don't have a aftercooler.

    • @williamallen7836
      @williamallen7836 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pully size will depend on the RPM of your motor. The manual has the very simple formula to figured the pully size you need to not exceed it's designed operating RPM.

    You did totally the same circuit, but worse, no cooling! What was the point? The fins were scratching your eyes? If so then there was a reson to redo it your way, but that is the only reason. FYI, the HF way is a better way.
    I can't believe you did what you did, there was no physics justification of any kind to do what you did!!!
