  • got the harbor freight air compressor pump and got it hooked up. the Gardner Denver pump needed a crank and rods and rings but the parts are obsolete. hopefully this chineesium compressor lasts me one fifth the time of the Gardner Denver.

Using the water heater copper tubing make adapting the line easy. Thanks for the tip 👍👍

It was supposed to be a temporary solution lol but it's holding. Something i had laying around.

Good stuff.. I guess it’s louder than the old pump. I gotta get my compressor put back together.. not sure what pressure it should turn off at.

The old one was louder with the rod knock, We did a temporary fix with some shims but it only lasted a few months. This pressure switch is 120 on and 150 off, a bit high, today i'll see how much lower than 120 and 150 it will adjust too, the pump is supposed to be 145 psi max. 100/130 is probably a better choice for a pressure switch

@@lincolnmaniac True on the rod knock being louder..lol I think my cousins compressor kicks off at 150 , but his is newer 2007 .. we used copper pipe 1/2” never had any issues.

sounds a lot better than it did. Prob just needs new compression fittings on that small copper line. The footballs get smashed or the line cracks around it most of the time.
nut in the pressure switch should be counter-clock to drop I think.

The Valve on the bottom of that cast iron cylinder thingy is leaking. the packing is probably worn out, tried to tighten the screw and nothing happened. going to need to replace it. thought it was leaking at the compression fittings.

What size pulley did you put on the motor? 8” ??

Air filters must be checked and change pretty often if out side but inside not so much

which way is your pulleys rotating when you facing them from the wall side?

  • @mrmotofy

You may be overdriving the pump. Should be about a 4.5" pulley for a 3450 rpm motor. Pump pulley diameter x pump rpm= X then divide by motor rpm and thats motor pulley size

little late at the game but, you went from a two stage compressor (the gardener denver) to a china junk single stage compressor ! single stage pumps should not go over 125 P.S.I.

the gardner denver compressor was no good. it needed a crankshaft and two rods and other stuff and the parts were obsolete and no longer available. the harbor freight compressor works fine for my needs.
