  • Please excuse the driving, it's been soooo long since I've fired Dirt up. I'm glad I did because now I remember why I love it so much!
    Here is the updated actuators in action. The difference is outstanding!! OMFG! Enjoy.
    Testing out ZEN's profile, although I did some tweaking but boy it rattles your soul! :D Monitors seems to hold up great too so that's a massive plus! Most of the noise is basically the frame and monitors and peripherals shaking themselves into oblivion haha.

    You are losing the immersion because your eyes and brain are still fully aware of your surroundings.. throw a headset on and you will be shocked at how much more immersive that becomes 👍
    Nice rig either way 😉

      Yeah i got VR and I love it but its been sidelined for a bit while i get everything back up and running. screens are much better for tweaking profiles and settings and for when you have friends over and also less anoyance with motion cancellation and just playing nice with 1000 other things chewing up usb ports haha. Once everythings tuned and good i'll bust out the headset again. :) Maybe i'll add a canopy at least for the time being.. it'll help with immersion on the screen side of things

    Lol I’m getting close to finishing the first build you show cased which I can’t wait for maybe 2-3 more months. now I’m sold on upgrading for sure 😂 that seams quiet as a mouse and very smooth, nice work. I’m not the best on computers and stuff so iv really appreciated all your videos and info on your builds cheers 👍 if the videos where vhs they would be burnt out by now lol. Are you going to be releasing any 3d print files of your new actuator build? I like the looks of your print for your quick release to the motor aswell, looks sturdy, Do you like the quick release you have attached to it, I’m looking at getting one of those type?. Loving your new upgrades bro the frame looks a lot better now✌️

    • @peacemakermotion3949
      @peacemakermotion3949  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate! Cheers, yes the new system is super smooth and quiet. But I also think if you have a good quality ballscrew in either system you'll be doing yourself a massive favour in the noise department straight away. Especially with a 1610. If you are almost done with V1. Just get that up amd running first for sure. The new actuator can easily be implemented. I just took one off at a time and converted them :)
      As for the cheap quick releases.. dont do it! They are absolute garbage I was lucky to get one good one without play. I have some new ones arrive so I'll do a video on the cheap ones and the new qr1 style ones I got.

      Much love man! I'll update my xsimulator post to reflect new design and with the STL files etc when I'm back from holiday. I'm quite happy with the performance so far so I think its passed enough testing :D. Went a little quiet because I was getting bombarded with people asking for my new design when I was still designing amd testing lol. Think it's at a stage where I can share now.
      As for the build. It's exactly the same as my v2 but with different top hat to incorporate bigger linear bearings rather than sleeves. The video showing off the design for the top hat with the new bearings will fill in those blanks. :)
      Thanks,

    1. Do you have to use two separate 120v power out lets or just one is enough to run the whole system?

      The 6 motors are capable of 4500w max though.. just shows that we aren't utilising them anywhere near their full potential.

    Impressive! Are you using flypt mover? And how are you able to have that much road detail without the rig going crazy when you crash?

    • @peacemakermotion3949
      @peacemakermotion3949  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry missed this one man! The tuning profile has filters. In these filters you can filter out the small fast bumps (which I need to do more of here) and it also filters out larger spikes like when you crash hard. There's a bit of a fine line where you can filter out too much and not feel crashes hardly at all. This is good for the rigs life and mechanical properties of course but takes away from immersion and it doesn't punish you for your mistakes so I like to still feel an impact but not the full impact. Other people like to filter impacts even more but it's personal preference. It can get sore after a fairly rough race haha. With no filters at all you can't even drive of the road onto the grass the rig is bouncing around that much, I would hate to experience a full crash without filtering!! Haha

    • @peacemakermotion3949
      @peacemakermotion3949  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I don't use spike filter. I have actuator filtering on the rig edymp or whatever is called set to 1. Pulse filter in thanos set to 1. I usually do 2 for dirt which helps. I might just increase emalp on heave as it's on only on 50.. I found setting spike filter up for each game on thanos a bit tedious so just use ptmover. I see thanos is all in mm now so maybe I'll revisit it one of these days. Maybe it's easier to dial in.
      We need to hit up some racing soon mate!

    Nice work.. How much the rig cost? .. Only motion parts.. Not wheel or wheel base or monitor

  • @alphastratus6623
    @alphastratus6623 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Two things:
    1. For an macro for instant resent directly on a button on your wheel you can use the 'free' software (donate if you want) 'Joytokey'. It can map inputs of a controller to a keyboard and includes a very good macro tool.
    2. What did you map on the movement? Just the basic movement ?
    I don't have motion yet and I only use bass shakers. They are quite good for the small stuff like road texture, engine sound, ... It would also smooth the basic movement a lot to change the high frequencies away of the motion and reduce wear in the actuators. Do you have any long time experience with this small and fast movements you use?

    • @peacemakermotion3949
      @peacemakermotion3949  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate, yeah if you look carefully on the shelf to the left I have 2 bass shakers ready to go on. I am going to use for engine sound and try take some of the road texture too exactly for this reason to remove stress not only from the actuators but also the peripherals like monitors and stuff like that :) next thing on the long list of things to do 😂
      I also have a stream deck on my left for macros. I just haven't set anything up for dirt yet. I also usually have my keyboard there as well but haven't found a place to mount it since I put on the triple screens :)

    mhh does these actuators only work with stepper/servo Motors or can i use standard motors from my rotary/worm gear rig + Hall Sensor ?

    • @peacemakermotion3949
      @peacemakermotion3949  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are they AC or DC. I know thanos old controller could do DC motors with hall sensors and this controller can still do them with some modifications. But you would be better off getting a hold of his old amc1280 controller as that's what it was meant for. The next thing is speed. These motors are 3000rpm so with 5mm and 10mm pitch ballscrews that 250mm and 500mm/s travel speed respectively. If your motors only 1000rpm then it won't be travelling faster enough. You could then look at a 25mm pitch screw I guess.. but then it need enough torque to drive it as well.

      @hanswurst3811 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@peacemakermotion3949 i have DC Motors 24V with 1800rpm (120Watts) i have arduinos and sabertooth for a rotary worm gear driven leverarm rig. i think i dont need high lifts with the rig. 10 cm up and 10 cm down from the center should be fine, because i want to use it in VR. less is more in this case :D just want to know it its possible to build someting with the ballscrews.

    • @peacemakermotion3949
      @peacemakermotion3949  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ZEN is another guy in the motion sim scene. He also has a 6dof hexapod. In the FlyPT software there is now an option for people to upload their tuned profiles they have made for certain games so you can browse what people have done and and download and then apply those profiles to your rig. You will have to make some minor adjustments to suit your rigs dimensions and travel etc but tit can be a good starting point when starting out or it's also good to see what others have spent hours dialing in and what filters they use etc. Everyone has their own taste and understanding of the software or how the motion should be interpreted. He has made a fair few profiles for other games too. They all seem pretty good so far.

    • @peacemakermotion3949
      @peacemakermotion3949  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it's not the best but 3 or 4 years ago when making the frame it was for a totally different wheel and seat combo. This is the reason i got the Trakracer wheel mount you see in the video.. so i can change the angle and use extensions etc.. but then it was too far forward so i had to reverse it and it wont angle up.. more modifications for another day. One day i'll get around to building a whole new frame that will incorporate it's evolution properly. This is just making best of a bad situation lol.
