    Very informative. Thanks. Just a note. The M8 screws in the list are 1.25 thread pitch. If someone does their own tap make sure the the tap thread count matches the the screws bought. I'm using 1.0.

    I hope eventually to be able to buy all the parts from your site in ONE place! I am building an actuator, but not for a motion platform. I know how to program, but I have zero experience with building anything like this, so the going is very slow.

    Great Video, i want to build the SFX-100 Actuators,.. and looking at this, i ask myself,
    wouldn´t a direct-drive like in the SFX-100 be less prone to failure and pull more torque
    than a pulley-belt system?
    Also, i love how you just used profiles for everything, great idea.

    That's really impressive. I currently run the PT-Actuator units, but I may just build these and test them to compare to. I get a lot of questions on where to get actuators for my rig. I may have just found where to send them to. Really nice job.

      My estimate is 1000-1500lbs (450-700kg). Each actuator can push up to 1000lbs/4500N (intermittent duty). The worst-case stress on the actuators is during a power failure where the sim drops and hits the hard stops

    Thanks for the detailed assembly video. I have been hesitant to try my own sfx100 build but this has me very interested. Do you plan to provide some dimensions of your cockpit aluminum profile attached to your actuators?

      Thanks for watching the video! I'm working on a cockpit design that would require some custom brackets that will be available for purchase on our store. My plan is to offer the kits with and without aluminum profiles. I've found that a design that uses all off-the-shelf brackets from a place like 8020 ends up being significantly more expensive than one that uses some custom parts

    Aren't ballscews slow? With the extended 10mm pitch it takes whopping 12 000 RPM to get measly 2m/s shaft velocity, it takes precisely 0.2 seconds to reach that speed at 1g of thrust. Acme screws are much of the same except way cheaper and less noisy. The only design I even consider for my own project is belt drive.

      Thanks for watching! The plans accommodate 80ST and 90ST frame size AC servo motors. This particular motor is an 80ST-M02430 which is 750W. They're easy to find for relatively low cost in China from places like AliExpress. There is parts list in the plans that have URL links to the parts I recommend

    Hi, I just found about you and your website through the Varjo Discord channel (motion Platforms).
    I have been looking for a DIY solution for a while, related to flight simulation (now MSFS2020) but too scared to get into it! This is the first time ever, after watching your vid that I feel it could finally be possible for me to get involved with such project and follow your lead.
    I have a few questions:
    1. Do you plan on maybe selling kits with all the parts required for 6 actuators assembly, chassis assembly?
    2. I do not have the capability of 3D printing, can I order those prints from you or a third party printing company?
    3. Would you provide tech support on how to set up the motors with the proper servos and all that is required to get to software setup part of things?
    4. Do you have a Discord channel, what is the best way to get in touch with you?

      Hey thanks for watching the video! Making your own motion rig is getting more and more accessible. I hope you decide to start your project!
      1. I do not plan on selling kits for the DIY actuator design but we do have line of actuators in our product roadmap. These will likely not be available for sale this year. My goal is to keep adding products and plans until a complete 6dof motion rig can be made from the products and plans on the store.
      2. If you're seriously considering spending $6-8k making a DIY 6dof motion rig, then I highly recommend buying an inexpensive (~$300) 3D printer to make as many parts as you can. Having a 3D printing service print the parts is an option but I have no experience using any of them. I would be surprised if you could buy the parts from a service for cheaper than buying a printer and printing the actuator parts yourself.
      3. Yes. There's also a few great communities dedicated to DIY motion rigs. I recommend joining the Thanos Motion discord here: discord.gg/bx4PxYR

I have been looking at several commercial and DIY solutions and today was a revelation to me! I now think it is a real possibility for me to do my own project, thanks to you and your parts list also including the different parts suppliers links (huge for me!)

      Hello! This is the 600mm travel actuator (400mm and 500mm travel versions are also documented in the plans) and the outer 4080 extrusion is 850mm, inner is 800mm long

    OK different question. From say where your butt touches the seat, how high does this thing go in total? I get that could set limits, but am thinking a worst case scenario where it ignores any software limit, last thing I want it to do is crack my head into the garage ceiling so I best measure up :)

      I've used an Ender 5 Plus and a Bambu P1P. Just about any FDM printer can print the parts

      I think you're asking if there's any advantage between the 80st or 90st motor options. They have the exact same performance but sometimes you can find one size slightly cheaper. I recommend looking for both and going with whichever is cheaper at the time

    how much weight can 6 actuators carry in weight / max platform weight?

      Each actuator has a peak thrust of around 4500N. Can easily support a 500kg weight (platform+rider)
