The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

@@marknewbold2583 Well, if you mean England/The U.K., obviously not since they declared themselves independent of "Mother England" and started their own country & government. If you mean what would eventually become the U.S.A., I'd say yes, especially since they were willing to fight so hard against almost insurmountable odds in order to have their own country where they could live as they wished w/o being ruled by a tyrant on the other side of The Atlantic!!

Interesting to see Roy try to be current for the times by performing the Merle Haggard song "The Fightin' Side of Me," the lyrics of which pretty effectively illustrate the deep division in this country during the Viet Nam War. No question which side of the issue Roy was on...

Happy 4th of July! What do you think of? Picnics, watermelon, hot dogs, fun, friends, family, and laughter. And at the end of the day... fireworks! How spectacular to watch... opening like a million sparkling jewels dancing in the night. It's still one of those wondrous things that takes my breath away. Don't forget what the true celebration is all about... "Freedom". We are still celebrating our freedom 246 years later. Many wars have been fought, and many lives have been lost for you and me. What a heroic sacrifice those men made, for us to remain Free. There is no greater Love than that! Pray for continued freedom, peace, and acceptance for all! Happy 246th Birthday America! You can sing these songs when your guy is president. But what do you say when the other guy is in charge?
The subtitles don't go with the songs. Can someone fix that?
Can someone take off the unrelated subtitles? The songs are so great but the subtitles take away interest.
