Hey Martin!! Just wanted to send you some good vibes and say thank you for your video's! I have a 2000 Dak' with a 4.7L so your new Dak' series is all awesome stuff to watch!!! 💪🔥💪 I'm happy you're getting better and proving that no matter what, you gotta keep moving forward!! 👍
Martin! Great video! Thank you for teaching us how to master the 4.7L! Idk before this was into tech. But watching and replicating the videos helped me find my true passion! ✌️
I got the KYB for my 04 Durango for only $60 a piece after my discount. Def love them. I need to do the rear yet but I also have been looking at bump stops to improve the travel back.
Hey Martin. Glad you’re ok. I worked on my Dakota a bunch when I had COVID too! I went a little the opposite way with the suspension tho. New shocks up front and shocks with added coil overs in the rear, not lowered not lifted but gives it that leaning forward look. Front driveshaft, steering shaft, rack, and rods while I was at it. Painted my rusty frame the best I could too. Stay well!
@@martinbuilt Cant wait to see em. Nice to see what other people pick to put on the same vehicle you have sometimes. I personally like simple, typically some version of flat 5 spokes for me. At some point id like to get a second set myself so I can go summer/winter tire but I'm not going out of my way to do it, tires are good enough for winter for now.
I’m not interested in lowering my truck but this will help for off-roading I like more travel and flex for the rough terrain. I’d like to know how it’s holding up. Thanks again for the great content you have really thorough ideas.
Matin been watching all your vids and you are a very knowledgeable person when it comes to these engines. Out of curiosity what state are you in. If close maybe you could do some work on my engines....
@@martinbuilt Thanks for the quick reply. Well I guess your just gonna have to move to Illinois😁. Thank you once again for all the great informative video's!!
With that metal cup that holds the original bumpstop in place that is taking away from the travel amount so by removing that and then replacing it with the bumpstop I used I added travel. So had I cut the original bumpstop down it would have given you very little cushion when you do bottom out.
Good choice swapping that nut out. Much better. That Ny-loc nut would have melted out the plastic when welding rendering it useless anyway. Any clearance issues on the back axle to the frame?
I feel that even though the ny-loc nut would have melted the nut it self would have still worked but glad I used that flange nut, that made it much easier to weld into place. On the rear I have about 2 inches of clearness to the bump stop. I still have some work to do on the rear like getting the parking cable hooked up and I'm also going to install a Durango sway bar. I also need to move the rear axle back 3/4 of a inch to center it in the wheel well.
@@martinbuilt i thought you might have. my 2001 crewcab 4x4 came with the 3.9 v6 but getting changed this year for a 1997 5.2 v8 computer and all tell i find a 5.9 v8.
Hi Martin, I need your advice. I have a Mitsubishi Raider (AKA Dakota) 06 3.7L V6 and It has 195k on it. It run like a champ. Now, is it worth to replace timing chain and lifters? I'm big fan of yours, keep up the good work.
That is a fair amount of miles but I feel if you're the kind of guy that change the oil consistently and uses a high quality oil like synthetic and runs like a champ, I would just keep driving it and enjoy 😉
Nice job Martin.Im sorry you got sick my friend,I sure am glad you are back at it.Thank GOD..👍👍
Thanks 👍 Dan

great job Martin, and wishing you good health my friend.
Thank you, I'm getting a little better each day.
Looks good, glad to hear you are feeling better.

Thank you, sounds like you got a lot more done than I did during Covid. I do have new wheels for the Dak coming tomorrow.

Great video Martin! So glad you’re feeling better! 😊💫🤩🙌🏻
Thank you Joan, glad you liked the video. And thank you for the well wishes.😊
glad you're on the mend.
Thank you, Rick, that Covid is no joke.
Good idea. My bump stops are rusted out on my 02 Dakota, so this will help with mine.
Glad you liked it and found it helpful.
How do you do a rear axle flip?I'd like to lower my Dakota.Would I need shorter shocks and would I have to reset the pinion angle.

Thank you, I appreciate that, live in southern Nevada
@@martinbuilt Thanks for the quick reply. Well I guess your just gonna have to move to Illinois😁. Thank you once again for all the great informative video's!!
Yeah I'm from Iowa but there is no way I would ever move back I've had enough of the cold winters the humid summers, the mosquitoes and the rust.
Couldn’t you cut the old bump stop? To the same size?
With that metal cup that holds the original bumpstop in place that is taking away from the travel amount so by removing that and then replacing it with the bumpstop I used I added travel.

do you think JB weld would be enough to hold the nut on? the load is in compression on to the nut flange.
I am a big fan of JB weld if you use the flange nut and clean the hole in the frame to bare steel I think the JB weld would hold.
@@martinbuilt thank you for the reply, I really admire your craftsmanship.
@@arthurdolle5257 Thank you, Authur, I appreciate that.
Where's all the rust? I'm in CT and the cups on my 99 rusted off.... Brake job turned into hoses and lines and bump stops...ugh
Yeah here in Southern Nevada we definitely don't have a rust issue.
One of the reasons I don't miss Iowa.
Hi Martin That flange nut looked like a cable tray slice nut.. did you find it on your electrical jobs in the past.. very glad your getting better.
You know it very well could be a cable tray nut. I never throw anything away and eventually it comes in handy.
Get well my friend ❤️😁👍
Thank you, Dave, getting a little better each day.🤗
How come you weld a nut on instead of just putting a nut and fender washer on the other side
because you can't get to the other side. It is totally in closed.
What size tires are you running front and rear? Thank you.
245/70x17
