Some time please explain the conversion to 24 or 48 volt advantage and is doing so really necessary

Great videos always and even better my two favs in one video, can I do my top charge with a battery charger that connects directly to the battery periodically? And if so how often should I do it.

I will periodically fully charge with an external lithium batt charger, in addition to the on board Solar charger, till I get around to swap Converter. Unless that is a no-no!,

If you've got a small capacity lithium battery (100ah), with a 100 watt solar panel on the roof, the solar can top off the battery beyond the 13.6v you'll get from your lead acid charger/converter.
This isn't the best solution. But it's a budget-friendly way to covert over to lithium (if you've already got a solar panel on the roof).

Just same here my solar would charge the lithium batteries to 100% but sometimes it won't charge to 100% when my RV is stored under a awning at a storage faculty, it only gets indirect sun light. On a cloudy day when my solar isn't getting enough sun m y batteries are not getting fully charge driving sown the road with our 12v fridge on. After a year of using my old existing acid battery controller I upgraded to a Lithium charger for around $150. I use 120v outside power to keep the batteries 100% before we hit the road.

If you have a correct solar charger it should bring the charge level up over the 80 percent.

The acid battery charge controller will bring the lithium batteries to about 75%-80% and then the solar will take it from there and charge the batteries to 100% assuming you have clear sunny day. In my situation I have to run a power cord across the sidewalk in front of my house and go 30 feet to a porch 120v 15ampo power receptacle on the house. My HOA don't like cables going across the side walk for safety reasons. I have to put up orange safety cones and light up the area like a airport runway.

If I have an older inverter/charger that does not have the ability to charge lithium, can I put in a DC to DC charger to increase the voltage for lithium charging? I guess I'd also need a second DC to DC charger for alternator charging. Is this a possible scenario?

A DC-DC charger is certainly capable of charging the batteries in your RV, but you need (1) wiring of an appropriate gauge, probably around 6-8 AWG and (2) with a stock alternator, 30-40 amps is probably the most that you can safely draw from your tow vehicle without risking damage to your alternator.
But for possibly less than the price of all that, just upgrade your converter/charger to one that can properly charge lithium batteries.
Now, if you actually do have an inverter/charger, there's a good chance that it can be programmed to charge lithium batteries correctly.

@@calledtojourney This is on 1995 Class A diesel pusher with a 160 amp alternator. The inverter charger is so old that all it has are DIP switch settings for LeadAcid or AGM only. Yeah, I'm shopping for an inverter upgrade, but if there's less costly way to do it for now, I'd like to explore that too.

@@sammysnit1688 Well, if you got 30 years of use out of it, you're already ahead of the game!
