Excellent plan Jason! That Tri pier will serve you well! Probably best to keep on the right side of the wife by not putting a hole through the pool deck🤣The CEM70 is a mount that I considered before I got the EQ6 R pro, that’ll work nicely with that tripod! Look forward to seeing that all in action mate👍 Clear skies!
Congrats. Looks like a great option if you can't put in a pier. Stability is definitely something to pursue, it DOES make a difference with guiding! CS!
Hi Jason, NICE Pier! Looks extremely sturdy. Yep, those clouds were a given. I didn't buy any new equipment but I still got the clouds ... oh wait, the comet is passing Mars tonight and tomorrow night ... ... so that's why I got the clouds... Ha. Good luck with your affiliate program. I found something else you might want to look into ... it's called "Buy Me A Coffee" Another way to perhaps, to gather a bit more pocket change. Looks like your solar panels were having a good day generating clean and quiet electricity.
yes Pat, it is very sturdy. I'll look into the coffee option, seem like a nice way to get drinks!! Hope the clouds stay away for your area and hope all is well in the Heavenly backyard. CS
Good purchase! I have a Tri-Pier underneath my GEM45G, also in a SkyShed Pod. I think it works better than a permanent pier, since you can slide it North or South of center, allowing you to reach zenith in either direction.
@@AZ4Runner I actually have had three partial clear nights which was fantastic. But now we have a Category 3 Cyclone on course to hit us Monday so we are still in a state of emergency here. 😬
good eye David! so this bolt actually came out of my Atlas pier extension. I was not using it and it fit and worked perfecty. Orion no longer sells this item and I just called Skywatcher, but they do not sell the bolt seperately. I'm looking to get another, so if you find one somewhere let me know. Skywatcher recommended checking at Ace Hardware or Grainger. but I have yet to find one. CS
@@AZ4Runner Ok. Just be careful with CEM70. On PHD2 forum, many-many people complain about it. I returned my. CEM60 is much better. Probably, it is their best mount. I don’t understand why IOptron discontinued it.
@@anata5127 yes I've seen not so great things about the cem70. but know some ppl that got it dialed in. I've been seening. alot of Cem60 for cloudy nights for sale too.
@@AZ4Runner There are really good CEM70. You just need to be very selective to get good one. I tried to dial my. It improved but still was well behind promised specs.

"My wife would disown me" - I learned a new english phrase.. (non-ntaive english-speaking) 😄 Really nice & interesting video Jason! cs
Thanks Tully! that phrase goes right along with "being in the dog house" at least for me. 😁 which I am always trying to get out of. CS

yes! that was what I was thinking. Very stable but still mobile.
That’s a nice pier. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! So far I am very happy with it.
Nice sturdy looking pier Jason, I've actually considered one of these myself.
just an FYI since you have a HEQ5.. it does not fit on the mentioned adapter without another adapter from Geoptik. that I have since ordered too. CS!
@@AZ4Runner good to know cheers
That looks great! I hope you will enjoy using it. CS!
definately! Clear skies my friend.
Wow. Really nice this pier! Hope you'll enjoy it
so far so good.
Looks great! Those have a good reputation. CS!
Thanks James! very solid.
Nice sturdy setup there Jason. I have been using my iOptron Tri-pier with my CEM60 since 2019 and it's great. Would go nicely with your new CEM70 😉
It sure will. I gotta take baby steps, so I don't hurt the pocket book. Hope the skies are clearing up for you southern boys!

very nice mate. I am really liking my CEM26 all but the tripod so am considering options for it. Look forward to seeing future use mate.
Thanks Glenn. and I'm pretty sure they make an adapter for the CEM26.

SOLID indeed. Bummed I missed the last livestream. CS
Where did you get the screw and bearing to attach your mount to the adapter?

@david, look up "thrust ball bearings" on amazon. That is part of the screw and bearing setup on the Atlas system.
Best option? I bet AP and ATS piers will have iOpton pier for breakfast.
maybe so.. I think it was the best option for me because my ultimate goal is to get a CEM60 or 70 for the OBS. CS
